Willys Jeep 1953 Jeep A Patriotic Old Friend 1953 Willys M38A1 Military Jeep Presented for your consideration is a nice old Military Jeep, manufactured by Willys. It is an authentic military version (M38A1). It has not been restored, but maintained through the years and kept in mostly stock condition. The Jeep runs great. The engine always fires right up and purrs like a kitten. Owning this Jeep will bring you much pleasure, fun, and good memories. It will need paint of course, but the body and underside are solid. All the gears work good. It does occasionally pop out of second when coasting in that gear. It seems better when under load, or if the gas is being applied. Others are fine. This Jeep features an after-market Warns Overdrive unit. It works good and allows the Jeep to be driven at higher speeds, which is nice. I've even had it on the freeway. All the gauges work (with favorable readings), except for the fuel gauge. The signals and brake lights also don't work. I haven't looked into why. The headlights and tail lights work fine. The original black-out lights near the grill are still intact. This Jeep is a blast to own and drive. The mechanicals don't get much easier to work on. It's economical to run and there is a huge following, if you're looking for help or to purchase accessories. Own a piece of American History! 1953 was the first year to introduce the familiar rounded fenders. Previous years were referred to as "flat fendered" Jeeps. This Jeep still wears its vintage California Black Plates - both front and rear. Another neat feature of the Jeep is the fold-down windshield. Driving with the wind in your face definitely adds to the fun experience. Glass is good; no rust underneath. Bed is solid, even in corners Original drab green color shows through on inner fender well Heavy-duty tow bar will also be included with the sale. All you have to do is hook it up to your rig and you're on your way! In the time I've owned this Jeep, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. It's fun going to the local hardware store or loading up with plants at the nursery. People always want to talk to you about it and it's always a crowd pleaser. An iconic Jeep like this was built to last.
