It was donated to a local small lake town fire department in 1960 and has been barely used all that time while being cared for in a firehouse closed building. No rust and extremely straight body. None of the usual dings and dents on this guy. engine #: J188829 Starts right up and drives and brakes well. lights work. New military tires a few years back with nipples still on them. New gas tank and rebuilt carb. Windshield glass cracked and the tool box lid needs replaced, but other then that it is ready to finish. This is an excellent base cj2a to finish to a $20,000+ jeep. Was running when I started taking it apart for a restoration. Drivetrain/ Engine is stripped of rust/dirt and painted. I have old body that could be reused but is in rough shape. Here is a nice and mostly original example of the first year of the "CJ" (Civilian Jeep) produced in 1946. This one is in very restorable condition with the typical rust in the floor-pans that is easily repaired or it can be left "As Is"and used as a daily driver or for outdoor adventures. It runs and drives well, the brakes have been professionally replaced and the seats have also been recovered in heavy canvas that looks like the original. I originally intended to restore the Jeep when I bought it a few years ago but I just can't seem to find time to get to it.......so I'm going to let it go. I have a new exhaust system and a new carburetor that will be included with the sale. One thing that I should add is that the "Half Top" on this Jeep sets it apart from the others that were built in '46. Here's your chance to own a very rare willys fire truck and they don't come up for sale often. This willys fire engine is in almost new condition with only 3300 miles on it. This truck was bought new and was the only fire engine the town had until it was replaced in 1972 then it sat in the fire hall un till march of 2015 when I bought it :) Since I have brought it home I gave her a new 6 volt battery and a bit of a tune up. The water tank in the back leaked so I removed it and repaired it and in the process I damaged some of the pipe fittings to the pump so there is a few new 1" fittings that don't take away from its quality and curb appeal. What also makes this fire truck stand out is it was not built in the USA it was built by the Sterling machine and manufacturing co. right here in Canada if your a Willys jeep kinda guy you may have heard of them they also made trailers and pto type accessories.
