1968 Triumph Bonneville custom Bobber / Barhopper. Fresh build with many, many new parts. Bike has a stock wheelbase with old school 70s full loop hard tail. This bobber is comfortable and a blast to ride. Starts first kick. The details: 1968 Bonneville frame with looped hardtail, custom billet rear engine mount, TR6 4 gallon tank, ribbed rear fender, custom round oil tank properly plumbed for Triumphs. Stock rake, stock forks rebuilt with new seal holders and seals, boots and new chrome top nuts. New bonded bushes and hardware for the handlebar mount. Wide, comfortable leather seat with about 3 inches of seat travel on the coil springs. All new cables, throttle, alloy levers, and jackhammer grips. Foot peg, kick and shift rubbers- all new as well as the kick lever and shift lever. New rear 16 inch rim with chrome spokes, stock 19" Dunlop front rim with new polished stainless spokes. New sealed wheel bearings, new brake linings, new tubes and tires. Lots of new, chrome or re-cad hardware. New drive chain and 20 tooth countershaft sprocket for less RPM at cruise verses the standard 19. Stock gas tank mount and rubbers, new gas cap, and brass petcocks. Oil tank is rubber mounted at 3 points- no more cracked oil tank tabs. New oil lines. All new custom color coded wiring using British connecters- no lamp cord on this one. Sealed battery, positive ground, Tympanium voltage regulator, new coils, plug leads, points and condensers. Twin mini tail lights, LED license plate light as well as an LED under tank to light the motor. Ignition is by toggle switch cleverly concealed in the usual place under the seat. Accessible while riding. 6" Bates style quartz head light with a 3 position toggle- off, dim and bright. Engine is a 1971 4 speed that had an older + .030 rebuild with low miles. Solid bottom end, ran good with good oil pressure. Motor was gone through to replace every oil seal, gasket and O-ring. Nice and oil tight. New clutch plates. Head was in good condition, but knurled the guides, cut seats and lapped the valves to be sure. Engine side covers are free of nicks, scratches, dents or road rash. Dual Amal 930s were rebuilt with tight slides, new O-rings, needle jets, and alloy float needles. New style shielded ticklers installed. Exhaust is equal length drag pipes with new exhaust clown clamps, wrapped, with glas pak muffler inserts. Sounds good, but if you want more noise, the inserts are easily removed for that full Triumph sound. This bike was built with reliability and rideability in mind. A 50 mile trip doesn't have to be a torture session, that's why the seat, handlebars and riding position were made this way. On the other hand- can be modified the way you like it- that's the beauty and fun of a custom bike. Read the description and look at the pictures, almost everything is new or rebuilt. Very nice professional paint job. Have a clear Michigan title in my name. Title says 1969, but was probably sold in 69, thus titled in 69. Title and frame of course match. That was common back in the day. Those that are new to vintage British bikes be advised this is 47 years old, kick start only, no speedometer, tachometer, horn or turn signals. Does have a rear view mirror. Mileage is unknown, but had to put something in. Bike is located in Mason MI, 48854. Will assist the shipper of your choice, but please get your own quotes. Will ship anywhere. A Paypal deposit of $ 500.00 required within 48 hours of auction close, full payment within 7 days of auction close, or at pick up or shipping. If these terms aren't met or other arrangements made, bike will be relisted. I can store the bike for you if you send proof of insurance. You are bidding on a 1971 Triumph 650 Bonneville which has been converted over to a hardtail bobber in the classic sense. The bike has been gone through bottom to top,and end to end.Its now ready to put some miles on it,and is really fun to ride.Ready for those local bike nights,or cruising down the boulevard. Here are the details: I purchased the bike from the owner of Devil's Hand Productions last year, who was building it to highlight his custom paint work at shows & events. At that time,he was funding a new paint booth, and so I ended up with it.Check out his website to see his work,as you wont be disappointed. He had the hardtail rear frame jigged & welded up by a local shop that specializes in that work, and it tracks true. The original forward portion was retained, and the oil reservoir is in the upper frame backbone. The copper flake finish really stands out, especially in the sun.The gas tank & rear fender are finished in a bright blue flake finish, along with a bright white stripe down the top of the gas tank that really stands out-Must see it in person to appreciate it!I had the inside of the gas tank professionally sealed by Elizabeth Radiator to be on the safe side, and brand new petcocks with metal fittings are used on the gas lines. The rear fender was internally braced by the previous owner, and I also had a custom rear fender bracket fabricated in stainless steel, and then highly polished. The motor mounts are custom ribbed polished aluminum, and all motor mount bolts are brand new.The seat is from Biltwel, and the coil springs are matching copper flake.Handlebars are drag style with risers for a comfortable reach, along with the Triumph branded footpeg rubbers.I do have the original front fender for the bike, although it was never refinished to match, but the winning bidder can have it if they want. The motor was rebuilt from the bottom end up to the base gasket by the previous owner, and I had the top end redone by a local shop to .030 over, with new pistons & rings fitted, along with a clean bore. The bottom end was rechecked, and everything came back as within spec. The valvework was done by Wes White at Four Aces Cycle, and all work was performed correctly.A set of Webco "Starburst" rocker box caps top off the motor. All seals & gaskets were replaced at rebuild. The Mikuni carbs were also rebuilt at this time, and also synced to the motor with new "pancake" style filters.Brand new engine breathing system with one way check valve & filter was also installed to prevent "burping oil" all over the motor. The Joe Hunt mag was also setup correctly, and the bike was given its initial run on a Dyno to properly get everything setup correctly.Bike starts up on first or second kick when cold, and on first kick when warmed up. All ignition & electronics are handled by a brand new Joe Hunt magneto. There is no battery,so both the NOS Bates headlight and 1920s style glass "STOP" taillight work only when the bike is running. There is an ignition kill switch on the handlebar tied into the magneto also.Levers & grips are brand new,as are the drag style handlebars & risers. The beautiful 2 into 1 exhaust was sourced from Lowbrow Customs, and built in the UK-Sounds great too!A p-bracket was added to keep it tight, and a deflector was placed at the frame to protect the paint. Also new spark plugs & clear spark plug leads were installed during the rebuild. The wheels & hubs are original to the bike, and I would rate them an 8 out of 10 as far as the condition.Nice, but not mint.Brand new period correct tires & tubes.Front brake cable, clutch cable, speedo cable are new,as is the rear brake rod.The Smiths speedo is period correct, but not the original one.Front fork legs have been polished, and I also have a brand new set of Progressive Suspension fork springs, and new seals that will go with the bike.New sprockets front & rear,as well as the chain. Overall,a really cool bike, thats ready to roll, and a real head turner. Please contact me with any questions,as all sales are final.Make sure that your wife/girlfriend/mistress/kids & dogs are all good with you hitting the "Buy it Now" button before you do.I will also include a hard copy factory shop manual for reference.A $250 Paypal down payment is due within 48 hrs,and the full balance within 7 days. The bike can sit for up to 2 weeks if needed, but full payment is due within the 7 days.I can also give you the name of the shipper I use if needed,as he is reasonable & professional.
