2002 Suzuki V-Strom 1000, Tried and True Alaska Adventure Bike - this fully loaded motorcycle has gone back and forth from Alaska three times and criss-crossed the lower 48. Sadly its rider has neither the time nor the inclination to take it back home to Anchorage. It is currently garaged at my mother-in-laws in Iowa City and looking for someone to love it. This is the Big VStrom, with plenty of grunt to haul all the gear you'll need for cross-country driving at highway speeds, yet nimble and balanced enough for gravel and fire road adventures. 35 mpg highway on average at load. The bike has about 34,000 miles on it and has had its 25,000+ major maintenance check-up performed at Loudoun Motorsports in Fairfax Co., Virginia while passing through a few years ago. No valve adjustment was needed, but the VEE got new sprockets and a chain. The Michelin rubber has 1500 miles on them, so plenty of tread life left. It has been dirt-ridden and has been down on occasion at slow speed -- some rash on the right side adds character! The Vee comes with hard-wired TomTom GPS, Givi locking hard cases top and sides, and a custom made wooden cargo plate for self-supported 3,000+ mile adventures. I have lots of little accessories and supplies that I can't get back to Alaska, so they are yours. ASKING: $3,000 but will entertain offers.
