The Burgman 650 ABS model also offers an antilock braking system (ABS)* that helps to maximize the rider s control by preventing the wheels from locking during hard brake application. The ABS unit weighs 55% less than the previous model. *Depending on road surface conditions, such as wet, loose, or uneven roads, braking distance for an ABS-equipped vehicle may be longer than for a vehicle not equipped with ABS. ABS cannot prevent wheel skidding caused by braking while cornering. Please drive carefully and do not overly rely on ABS. Features May Include The front brakes have an updated design with floating discs for more consistent braking performance. The new exhaust system features a triangular section muffler and is engineered to keep emissions so low that the Burgman 650 satisfies the most stringent regulations. Superlative control comes from a Suzuki Electronically-controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (SECVT). The SECVT s updated design includes new clutch plates that cause 35% less drag. Tubular frame and aluminum-alloy swingarm allow the engine to be mounted in a forward position for excellent balance and agility. The underseat compartment can hold two full-face helmets and has a light for nighttime convenience. Big, easy-to-read analogue dials for the speedometer and tachometer flank a digital display that shows an odometer, twin trip meters, a fuel consumption meter, a fuel meter, a coolant temperature indicator, a thermometer, a clock, an oil level indicator, an oil change indicator, a drive mode indicator (for drive mode and power mode), and a gear position indicator (for manual mode). The windscreen is shaped to give great wind protection and a clear view of the road. It s electrically adjustable to suit the rider s height. For convenience in tight parking spaces, the rearview mirrors can be retracted electrically at the touch of a button. Two fully automatic modes (Drive and Power) and Manual. Drive mode heightens efficiency at normal road speeds and gives smooth, linear, almost shock-free power delivery for easy riding. Power mode gives more punch when you twist the throttle. Features may include: Powering the Bandit S is a 1,255cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, DOHC, four-cylinder engine delivering a wide spread of power for relaxed cruising or sport riding. Engineered for smooth operation, the engine has an effective secondary balancer shaft. Power is transmitted through a 6-speed transmission using gear ratios chosen for impressive accelerations as well as smooth highway use. Clutch operation is low effort and smooth, with low maintenance, thanks to a hydraulic clutch actuation system. The state-of-the-art Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) digital closed-loop EFI system also delivers improved mileage and reduced emissions. The 4-into-2-into-1 exhaust system is built of steel and stainless steel and is equipped with a catalyzer and HO2 sensor. The large silencer controls sounds while permitting excellent flow to maximize torque and overall engine power. To shed heat from the high torque, large displacement engine, a high capacity radiator is employed. Cooling air is directed to the radiator via the front fender and directed away by the outer fairing shroud. Additional engine cooling comes from a liquid-cooled oil cooler, similar to the type used on the GSX-R750.
