Here is a very rare T. Price Mercedes 540K Special Roadster replica. Florida antique plate and titled as a 1936 Mercedes; easy and inexpensive to insure as a classic car. Please do not confuse this masterpiece with the less accurate and cheaper Heritage version. This manufacturer, California Factory of Pomona, California, was active for only a few years in the mid-1980's. Probably less than 20 of the Special Roadsters were produced, and the price was $85,000 for a turn key example, a huge price for the time. Based on a 1978 Ford LTD frame which is cross braced and reinforced for stiffness, the car has a vintage 302 with single 2 barrel carburettor, C4 transmission, 9 inch Ford rear end, power steering, power brakes and air conditioning. Body is very substantial hand laid fiberglass with an excellent red and cream paint scheme. The bright work is in very good condition, with some small areas which would profit from a re-chrome. Wire wheels are in excellent condition. Interior is excellent, with red carpet and cream naughahide upholstery on authentic Mercedes seat frames. All gauges function. There is a very high quality canvas cloth top in like new condition, as I prefer driving in an open car and never use it. The car runs and drives extremely well, and I have spent many hours and dollars to bring this marvelous classic up to very high standards. As originals bring up to $14 million, this easy to care for, easy to find parts for replica is the perfect solution to the "best bang for the buck" syndrome.
