These rare and highly sought after tractors were driven with reins just like a horse. Incredible examples of American ingenuity these tractors were built to bridge the gap between traditional horse drawn farming and the modern combustion engine farm tractors that came into the market in the 1920s and 30s. The Power Horse allowed farmers to use their horse drawn farming implements along with a modern tractor thus making the transition from Horse to Tractor easier and more cost effective. The exact number of Power Horses that were made is unknown but it believed there are only 50 are in existence today. Of those 50 it is estimated that 20 are in running condition and less than half that amount are restored. Built in Clinton, Utah and later in Salt Lake City Utah the Power Horse used the Model B Allis Chalmers power plant, gas tank, sheet metal, and transmission mated to a proprietary fixed four wheel drive system that operates just like modern tractors today. In fact, the Power Horse Patent for its fixed four wheel drive was purchased by EIMCO and was later the inspiration for the Bobcat Tractor. This 1940 Power Horse was restored by Probasco Family in Huntsville, Utah who are noted Power Horse authorities and have restored 5 Power Horses to date. This Tractor was completely disassembled and gone through. The body, the engine, four wheel drive section, and wheels were all sandblasted, primed, and finish coated. Four new tires were also added. The Tractor uses a hand crank for starting and starts easily on the 2nd or 3rd turn. The tractor moves easily into gear and idles without creeping. The controls operate via horse reins and the tractor moves into forward, reverse as well as turns left and right without issues. Featured in parades and tractor shows the Power Horse is always the star of the show. Add this unique machine to your collection today.
