2008 Piaggio Mp3 500, Selling my 2008 Piaggio MP3 500. With other rides in the garage, she's getting less and less saddle time, so time to move on. She's got 22,264 miles on her, most of those highway miles. Engine professionally rebuilt by Thousand Oaks Vespa about 3,000 miles ago. It's basically a barely-broken-in ride at this point. And the tabs are good through August 2015 - so you have 4 months of worry-free riding! This is the big, bad boy of the Piaggio lineup (Piaggio is the parent company of Vespa, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi - much like GMC is the parent company of Chevy, Cadillac, Buick). A full 500cc of engine, it will easily speed you down the road and well-above-legal speeds. It has THREE wheels! Yes, two up front, and one in the rear. But the ones in the front are close together, and fully articulated. They lean together like a regular bike - you corner just like a regular bike! BUT, because of a loophole in California's laws, you do NOT need a motorcycle license or endorsement to drive this on the road. Just a normal driver's license and you're set. You cannot find a bigger displacement (500cc) leaning motorcycle that does not require a motorcycle license. It's either smaller engines or going to a fixed-axle trike (like the CanAms and TriGlides). You want the bike experience, the corners, the braking? This is for you! With the 500cc, it has plenty of power and torque to pull out in front of the pack, and plenty to go down any freeway. With three contact points on the ground, it's exceptionally sure-footed and comes to a halt quickly and predictably. It's size and suspension allow for a really comfortable ride for hours, even with a passenger. And the CVT transmission is simply "twist and go" - no clutch, no shifting - you are always in the perfect gear, automatically. The top case and underseat storage will easily swallow 6-7 bags of groceries. Holds two full-face helmets, gloves, kneepads, and jackets all internally - makes an afternoon run down the coast super convenient as you don't have to worry about where you're going to store everything.
