PURCHASING THIS BIKE IS LIKE MAKING AN INVESTMENT IN THE FUTURE THIS LISTING PRESENTS A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE A RARE BRIDGESTONE GTR 350, STILL IN FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION. THE 350 GTR IS A HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER COLLECTIBLE MOTORCYCLE. MANUFACTURED BY BRIDGESTONE OF JAPAN. THE GTR WAS THEIR TOP OF THE LINE RIDE. THIS BIKE HAS BEEN PART OF OUR COLLECTION, FOR TWENTY YEARS. PURCHASED FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND GARAGED EVER SINCE. THE POWERFUL TWO STROKE ENGINE IS COMPLETE WITH ALL ALLOY COVERS. THE MOTOR KICKS THROUGH WITH COMPRESSION. THE POWERFUL TWO CYCLE OIL INJECTED ENGINE RENDERS THIS BIKE A TRUE BACK IN THE DAY CROTCH ROCKET. A STOCK GTR 350 WILL TACH BETWEEN 6500-8000 RPM. AND SOUNDS LIKE TWO CHAIN SAWS PULLING AT FULL THROTTLE. WHEELIES ARE THE NORM, BUT NOT RECOMMENDED. A STOCK BIKE HAS A TOP SPEED OF CLOSE TO ONE-HUNDRED MPH. THE 350 GTR IS BEST KNOWN FOR ITS' STRAIGHT LINE ACCELERATION. A WELL TUNED STOCK 350cc MOTOR CAN CRANK OUT A HEALTHY 40 + HORSE POWER. A HOPPED UP MOTOR CAN BE TUNED TO CRANK 60+ HP. BRIDGESTONE REPAIR PARTS ARE GENERALLY AVAILABLE ON LINE AND PRICED WITHIN REASON. THERE IS NO DENYING THAT THIS BIKE WILL NEED SOME TLC FROM ITS' NEW OWNER AFTER THE MANY YEARS SPENT IN STORAGE. 1917 LOCOMOBILE PROJECT (THAT IS LOCO AS IN LOCOMOTIVE) THIS WAS ORIGINALLY A CALIFORNIA CAR, DURING THE 1970-80 PERIOD. IT WAS PAINTED CANARY YELLOW, AND DRIVEN IN SANTA ROSA , CA. PARADES BY ITS' THEN PHYSICIAN OWNER. IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE A SHOW CAR, BUT IT WAS FEATURED IN THE MOVIE " THE AMELIA EARHART STORY" DURING THE 1980S. THE PHYSICIAN PASSED , AND THE CARI CHANGED HANDS. THE MOTOR WAS REBUILT AND THE CAR WAS DRIVEN IN SEVERAL GREAT AMERICAN ROAD RACE EVENTS DURING THE EARLY 90S IT IS UNKNOWN WHEN THE CAR WAS REFITTED WITH THE SPEEDSTER BODY, BUT WE KNOW IT HAD BEEN FASHIONED OUT OF THE REAR SECTION OF A TOURING CAR. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT BACK EAST AND HAS BEEN IN STORAGE SINCE THEN. I RECENTLY REMOVED THE SPEEDSTER BODY IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE ROTTED WOOD FRAMING. ( IT IS OFF THE CAR NOW, ALONG WITH THE TWO DOORS WHICH WERE FITTED TO IT. IT WILL ALL GO WITH THE CAR IF DESIRED. THE DASH PLATE READS MODEL 38 LOT 2. NUMBER 13252.CAR - 139 1/4 INCH WHEEL BASE.- THE YEAR 1916 IS CAST INTO MOTOR BLOCK 523 CI SIX CYLINDER PRODUCES 43,5 HP AND MASSIVE TORQUE. HAS TWIN DISTRIBUTOR, TWIN SPARK PLUGS PER CYLINDER . WATER COOLED. IT HAS MANUAL TRANSMISSION WITH STANDARD. "H" PATTERN SHIFTER. ( LOCO DESIGN INNOVATION ) MANY YEARS AGO THE CLUTCH WAS REMOVED TO CLEAN THE PLATES, LININGS, BUT WAS NEVER RE-INSTALLED. ALL THE PARTS NECESSARY TO RE-INSTALL GO WITH THE CAR. I NEVER GOT IT BACK TOGETHER DUE TO MY JOB WORKING OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY FOR TEN YEARS. THE OVERDRIVE WILL PROPEL THIS CAR TO A TOP SPEED OF 78 MPH LOCOMOBILE WAS ONCE CONSIDERED THE MOST FASHIONABLE AND EXPENSIVE CAR BUILT IN THE AMERICA TOTALLY RARE NOW AS FEW WERE SOLD, PRE 1922 LOCOMOBILE HAD A PRODUCTION RATE OF FOUR PER DAY. BASICALLY THIS WAS A HAND MADE CAR WITH HAND PICKED PARTS. IT COST MORE THAN A ROLLS ROYCE OR A MODEST HOUSE AT THE TIME. .. AFTER TWENTY THREE YEARS OF OWNERSHIP, I NO LONGER HAVE TIME TO WORK ON THIS CAR AND IT jUST TAKES UP MY GARAGE SPACE. ( the new car sits outside) MY SONS WANT THE CAR, BUT THEY JUST SEE DOLLAR SIGNS. SO IT IS NOT IN THE CARDS. I AM PASSING IT ALONG AS A PROJECT/PARTS CAR TO BE SOLD "ÄS IS" "WHERE IS" IT HAS BEEN CRANKED REGULARLY BY HAND TO KEEP THE MOTOR LOOSE, BUT IS NOT A CURRENTLY RUNNING VEHICLE, NO FUEL TANK INSTALLED OR BATTERY. USED TIRES HAVE TREAD AND WILL HOLD AIR, BUT ROT CRACKING IS APPARENT. CAR CAN BE SAFELY TOWED./DOLLIED/ SHIPPED OR FLAT BEDDED. CAR IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN WATERTOWN, NEW YORK, 13601 ( UPSTATE, NY ONE HOUR NORTH OF SYRACUSE). THIS CAR IS TITRLESD AS A 1916, BUT I CAN ONLY FIND A PHOTO COPY OF THE ORIGINAL AND MY BILL OF SALE. IN NEW YORK A BILL OF SALE SUFFICES TO TRANSFER OWNERSHIP OF HISTORIC OLDER CARS, BUT I WILL SEE ABOUT OBTAINING A STANDARD DUPLICATE. THIS PROJECT CONSISTS OF RELATIVELY COMPLETE RUNNABLE ORIGINAL MOTOR, COMPLETE DRIVE TRAIN, BASICALLY COMPLETE RUST FREE CHASSIS WITH ORIGINAL 34" INCH TIRES ARE VERY OLD. BUT ON SOLID WOOD WHEELS, THE RADIATOR HAS A SMALL PUNCTURE THAT NEEDS REPAIR. COWL IS THERE BUT WAS MODIFIED FOR THE SPEEDSTER BODY, I BELIEVE THE BRASS WINDSHIELD FRAMING, IS ORIGINAL. BUT CHOPPED, AND NO GLASS. READIATOR HAS A LOCOMOBILE SCRIPT BOYCE RADIATOR CAP. T HERE ARE SOME LOCOMOBILE BRAND OR OTHERWISE PERIOD GAUGES AND SWITCHES INSTALLED IN THE DASHBOARD, MOSTLY FOR COSMETICS. MECHANICAL BRAKES OPERATE REAR WHEELS. HAND BRAKE IS COMPLETE AND OPERATES. WIRING IS QUESTIONABLE. THE STEERING WHEEL COULD USE SOME TLC. HEADLAMPS HAVE A FEW DINGS. THE CAR HAS BEEN GARAGED SINCE I PURCHASED IT. THE MOTOR TURNS OVER FREELY AND HAS COMPRESSION, I TEST RAN THE MOTOR S HORTLY AFTER MY PURCHASE IN 1993. AND NO NOTICEABLE ISSUES OR NOISES WERE DETECTED, I BELIEVE THE MOTOR WILL START WITH A NEW BATTERY, FUEL. AND A TOUCH OF TLC IT HAS A BOTH A HAND CRANK AND ELECTRIC STARTER. IT WAS PREVIOUSLY CONVERTED TO ALTERNATOR CHARGING SYSTEM. I HAVE A FUEL TANK FOR IT, BUT IT IS NOT THE ORIGINAL. THIS CAR BEGS TO BE RE-BODIED. IT IS A FULL CCCA CLASSICS AND COULD POSSIBLY END UP IN A HIGH END AUCTION. I NEITHER HAVE THE MONEY, TIME OR INCLINATION FINISH IT. WHAT YOU SEE IN PHOTOS IS WHAT YOU WILL GET, ( MAYBE A LITTLE MORE, BUT NO LESS). NOTE THAT THE LOCOMOBILE COMPANY OF AMERICA FURNISHED ONLY THE CHASSIS TO ITS'' CUSTOMERS, AND WOULD SENT OUT A TEAM OF SIX MEN TO A CONTRACTED COACH BUILDER. TO HAVE IT FITTED TO THE CUSTOMER SPECS.. SO, EACH LOCOMOBILE BODY IS BASICALLY A VARIATION OF A STANDARD LOCO FACTORY DESIGN. THIS MAKES THE CHASSIS IS TECHNICALLY CORRECT FOR FITMENT OF ANY VARIETY OF BODY STYLES. LOCOMOBILE BODIES WERE FABRICATED USING ALUMINUM ALLOY OVER WOODEN FRAMING. PRE- 1922 OCOMOBILE CHASSIS INCORPORATED MANY PATENTED DESIGN FEATURES DEVELOPED BY THE STANLEY BROTHERS (STANLEY STEAMER). AS FAR AS I KNOW, EVERY MODEL AND VARIATION OF LOCOMOBILES MANUFACTURED PRIOR TO 1922 HAVE BEEN DESIGNATED AS CCCA FULL CLASSIC CARS... THIS IS NOT A BARN FIND. I PURCHASED IT FOR BIG BUCK IT IN A MASSIVE CAR WHICH MOST PEOPLE THINK IS A FIRE ENGINE. I'M GUESSING ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BODY STYLE, BUT MOST LIKELY THE CAR BEGAN LIFE AS A FOUR DOOR CAR. I THINK A PROFESSIONAL FABRICATION SHOP COULD TURN THIS CAR INTO A BEAUTY IN VERY LITTLE TIME THE POTNTIAL IS FOR LOCOMOBILE CARS CARS TO SELL INTO SIX FIGURES.
