Description 1968 Intermeccanica Torino / Italia Coupe. Offered for sale, by KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this exceptionally rare and stunning Italia Coupe for restoration. The Intermeccanica company has a very interesting history. This exotic Italian/American hybrid was produced in very limited numbers during the late 60's, with approximately 425-450 units worldwide in both coupe and convertible body styles combined. The car was produced in Turin and mechanical components were sourced from Ford. Far less than half are believed to exist today. This car is early Torino coupe #28 ( VIN # 40028) that was originally painted in a blueish-green exterior color with still it's highly original black interior trim. Original J-code 302ci Ford V-8 (removed and needs rebuilding) with T-10 Four-speed manual gearbox. Ford 9-inch rear end with 4-wheel disc brakes. Car has only 21k original miles on it from new. It had an engine fire early on in it's life which removed it from road use. The hood has been replaced. Excellent straight body and chassis overall with very little rust. No modifications to the bodywork. Newer windshield and tires. All mechanical parts interchange with other components from car manufacturers of the period. Overall, an exciting and incredibly rare discovery, fresh to the market. A highly preserved very early coupe with matching, correct mechanicals. Completely unaltered original bodywork.
