Founded in 1926 by Ulrich Maistch as Maistch & Co, the company originally manufactured 98 and 123 cc Ilo two stroke engines. After Worls War II, they began producing their own unit construction two-stroke engines, selling complete motorcycles. Maico made a brief foray into the automobile business with their own line of microcars in the late 1950s. Maico have also made go kart engines. The road motorcycles were named after winds... 'Blizzard', 'Typhoon' etc., but the company was better known for its purpose-built Motocross and Enduro machines, and for its 'Maicoletta' motor scooter, both of which sold in higher numbers than the road motorcycles. Maico Racing Motorcycles: Maico motocross (MC) and enduro (GS) racing models proved very successful in both European and American competition throughout the 1970s. While lacking the financial capital and big money race-team backing like that of the Japanese factories of Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki, Maico riders such as Adolf Weil, Ake Jonsson, and Willy Bauer proved to be a serious challenge to the Japanese factories and produced numerous top three finishes in the Motocross World Championships. The firm also experienced some success in Grand Prix road racing competitions with rider Borje Jansson winning three 125cc Grand Prix races between1972 and 1973. American publication Motocross Action called the 1981 Maico Mega 2 - 490cc the greatest open-class motocross bike of all time. The 1974.5 400cc and 440cc GP, 1978/79 250cc Magnum and 1981 490cc models along with any year 501cc motocross bike are also some of the most sought-after vintage MX and twin-shock motorcycles to this day. One of the visual modernizations of the Maico off-road motorcycles was the move from a "coffin" style tank in 1974 to a "teardrop" style tank in 1978/79 on bikes like the 250 Magnum. The bikes later moved to plastic tanks in 1980 with the Mega 490. One of the largest contributions to the world of motocross suspension technology came in the 1974 season when the Wheelsmith Motorcycles team in the USA and the Gunther Schier teams in Europe forward-mounted the rear shocks on the Maico factory-backed motorcycles, immediately increasing the travel and ability to trump the competition. This initiated a frantic effort on the part of factory teams and privateers alike; chopping up their frames in a desperate attempt to remain competitive. Maicowerk AG filed for bankruptcy in 1983, but continued to produce small numbers of motocross and enduro models (re-badged as M-Stars in the United States due to legal issues) up through 1986. Subsequent manufacturers have purchased the brand name and applied it to their own limited production motorcycles. Modern open-class dirt-bikes are still being produced under the Maico brandname. The ATK Intimidator dirt-bike (reportedly the most powerful production 2 stroke motorcycle available aside from Maico's own motorcycles) features a Maico motor. After the company went out of business in 1986, its assets were taken over by a Dutch company, but to this day retains a strong cult following. Many riders restore vintage Maicos for display or to take back to the track.

SURREALMOBILE-ART VAN STEAMPUNK OUTSIDER ART SCULPTURE VEHICLEThis is a one of a kind Art Car made by me: Sir Robert Buchholz : local artist,sculptor / musician / spiritual eccentric / friend to the homeless and man about town.This van came to me in 2003 from my friend Sir Steve Philips (Guitar player from my band-The Sir Knights)Steve and I did much art together and he started the painting on the van and sold it to me. I was inspired to do a rolling sculpture of found objects and ready-made items after visiting Tyree Guyton in Detroit in the early 80's.He created the Heidelberg Project and is a world famous artist. I have been making found object assemblages since the early 80's and have done many art shows in the Chicago land area. The Dada and Surrealist movement is a main flux for my work. I owe tribute to Salvador Dali , Max Ernst , Marcel DuChamp , Man Ray , Andy Warhol and countless others as showcased on the Surrealmobile. After several years of work and hundreds of hours of work my machine was complete. I was invited to attend Art Car shows in Louisville,Kentucky and Eureka Springs, Arkansas in 2006-2008. In 2009 there was an art car show in Berwyn ,Illinois and the Surrealmobile was photographed by the famous car spindle and was hosted by local horror show host Son Of Svengoolie ! I hope that my creation will have a new place of honor for the next owner.Clear title / Starts / Stops / SteersThe vehicle is located in Illinois and up until a few weeks ago had not been started or ran for a few years. I put a battery in the car this past week and cranked it over and the motor started. The vehicle moves and drives but it is sold as not being road worthy until everything can be checked out on it, especially the brake system. Currently the brakes seem like they are working but after being stored for a long time, the mechanics of the vehicle will need some attention to be sure that everything is safe and reliable. The previous owner spent over $1,500 on the light kit and it look incredible when on, each LED flashing in red white and blue. The rear piece of the stakeback bed kit is missing and there are 2 small cracks on the stakeback post locations(rear). We didnt see a need to repair them but you could easily fix them. 2008 Smart fortwo passion. Car has been well taken care of and i have had ZERO mechanical issues with it what so ever. The only issues with the vehicle are minor cosmetic flaws. Most of which can be fixed fairly easily. Additional Features/Add ons/Options include: 6 CD ChangerAuxiliary Cord/Ipod or MP3 HookupHeated Suade SeatsTachometer & Clock on Dash The bad, are only minor cosmetic flaws. Which I will do the best to list below, and include photo's of. There is a few deep scratches on the front drivers side bumper.These were here when i purchased the car (See photo). It's as if previous owner scrapped a curb or such. There is a small scratch on the passenger side door. This is a minor scratch, and only visible when dirt gets in. There is a long scratch across the back gate/door. Across where your license plate mounts.(Both of these appear to be "Key" scratches, and can be fixed fairly easily. Also. See pictures) I believe these can be cleaned up, fixed, filled and repaired very easily. As they are not deep at all. Back passenger rim has dent. Holds air, no issues with it. (See picture)Occurred when driving in Chicago and a very large pothole came out of nowhere. Driver side latch for front hood/maintenance flap needs to be replaced.The small hood on front houses the radiator and fluids (Engine is in the trunk)A small latch/lock part had broken. I have the replacement part to do so and attempted to yesterday. I was on a time crunch and couldn't figure out how to properly get where I needed to. The front right latch is currently locked in just fine and there is a small amount of clear packing tape on the right left side. (Just as a temporary precation for the hood to stay down, due to the locking part). I've driven this at 75+ on the highway as it sits, on an everyday basis with no problem. (usually a steady 65mph though) I have the part, and can replace prior to sale. The passenger seat has some stains, rings in the fabric. (Which previous owner had done.) I'm sure they can be shampoo'd and cleaned out. Passenger side seatbelt has some tear/damage.(Previous owner as well) It is not weakened, by any means and functions as intended. Would also be easy to replace. I drive this car daily. In no rush to sell.Just think it's time for something new. Previous owner worked for Mercedes and went over vehicle. I was told that they require oil change every 10-12k miles (I think) or once a year. He also mentioned that the car would tell you when it was time to be serviced for an oil change. It takes premium, more expensive oil. Of which I believe I have enough quarts for 2 full oil changes. The vehicle is an automatic/Manual transmission. I drive the car solely in Automatic. Yet you have the option to drive in manual. It will be a clutchless manual. The Tachometer on the Dash also makes it easier to drive in manual. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Intro: For your consideration is this nice condition and complete 1974 Jensen Healey that has traveled 63,000 miles. It runs and drives very nicely and is ready to be enjoyed as it is. This is a great example for someone wanting an example to drive quite a bit. It still retains its proper, strong running Lotus 907 engine mated to the original manual transmission. The finish is believed to be the original color and is presentable as is the interior. These vehicles are an excellent value right now compared to other British classics. The all-aluminum, dual overhead cam, 145 horsepower, exotic Lotus engine is a delight, quite bulletproof, and has more horsepower than many of its competitors. Exterior: The finish on this Jensen Healey overall is presentable. It received a repaint at some point of its existence in what must be the original blue color. The color is very attractive and fits the personality of the car. The re-finishing must have been professionally done as it is quite smooth, has good reflection, is the same shade on all of the panels, and lack amateur type issues like runs and overspray. For whatever reason, the passenger side’s finish looks absolutely beautiful with limited wear and the driver side shows some more nicks and wear, which might have been due to how the car was parked or stored. Other aging includes a couple contained/limited spots of “crazing” which are very shallow-not-through-the paint stretching and contracting marks. There are just a couple of these areas, the most significant ones are pictured, and they are about the diameter of a softball. Pictured is a spot on the hood and one on the trunk. This IS NOT occurring over the whole car, again there are just a couple limited spots. The finish would be considered more of a driver quality but is definitely presentable enough to take this vehicle to British car shows and club events, and presentable enough to still admire this vehicle. This shade of blue looks very nice and the panels still do have a nice reflection too them. Note the photos with the book next to the car showing the reflections and also the video clips show the reflection well. The body on this Jensen Healey is quite straight. The gaps are where they should be and when kneeling down and looking down the sides of the car, it is very straight, not wavy. There is no evidence I can find of accidents. The body is presentable and should stay this way for quite some time. The most important chassis areas are solid, like suspension mounting points. There are a few areas that exhibit rust repair. While the passenger floor looks to be original and overall pretty solid, parts of the driver side floor pan have been replaced. Other rust repair work looks to include the driver rocker and I cannot tell if the passenger rocker has been repaired as well. I am not quite sure why there are like screw holes in the bottom lip of the rocker. At the front corner of the driver door jamb and back corner there are some minor cracks in the finish. Luckily though, the rockers, door jambs, and other areas, do not have big rust blisters, bubbles, or holes. Right now, it just looks like some prior body work is starting to show some aging. It looks like it will at least stay this good for quite some time to come and it does not distract from the presentation of the car. The doors open and close nicely and easily. The trunk floor is great. The engine bay is overall nice, very complete, and in original spec. The bumpers, trim, lenses, badges, and etc. are present and are presentable. The convertible top is very nice without rips or cuts and the plastic window is very clear and in great shape as well. This is a very complete vehicle and as it sits it is presentable. Again, this would make a great driver for someone. Interior: The interior on this Jensen Healey is in nice condition and in original spec. The interior presents how it should for a vehicle that has been well taken care of and traveled only 63,000 miles. There would be nothing that would be considered excessive or distracting wear, just typical use is shown. There are some minor scuffs on the bottom of the driver door panel and a tiny bit of rubbing wear on the driver seat bolster but again, not bad at all. The most significant spot of wear is one typical, but yet small, hairline crack in the dash about an inch long and is pictured. The dash though for the age is great and does not exhibit significant shrinkage like I have seen on others. The passenger side door panel has a couple minor splits towards the top of it. The carpet is good throughout but the floor mats could use a minor cleaning. The seats are comfortable and are in great condition front and back. The gauges look fine. The steering wheel is good. The center console is very nice. The top cover is in nice shape. An aftermarket tape deck is installed but the original is included with the car. This is an interior that could be enjoyed as it currently is and aids in the presentation of this vehicle. Mechanical: The most important mechanical aspects of this Jensen Healey are in very good condition, allowing this vehicle to be driven and enjoyed. This Jensen starts up nicely. The Lotus engine runs nice and smooth and idles on its own without throttle modulation. It does not blow smoke out the back. It keeps a proper temperature. It does not spit, back fire, feel low on power, or any other goofiness. It sounds very healthy and goes through the RPM range as it should. These engines are great and like to be revved. It is a typical British car with typical minor amounts of fluids working their way out but nothing significant or needing to be addressed. The exhaust is overall quiet and in nice condition. The clutch feels great and operates without issue. The transmission shifts very nicely and is the 4 speed unit. Absolutely no grinding, no popping out of gear, no funny business. The differential does not exhibit any issues. The brakes operate as they should. The suspension seems fine. The rack and pinion steering feels good. The tires are older but are matching and have much tread left. The passenger rear has a slow leak, which is really the main thing mechanically to address, which in the grand scheme of classic automobiles, is pretty insignificant! The gauges work, headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and etc. also work. Again, this vehicle would make a great driver and should only need regular maintenance for years to come! Conclusion: The Lotus 907 engine is a treat. Other British classics of the same era like the TR6 (100 horsepower) and the MGB (85 horsepower) currently cost thousands more in similar condition, are much more numerous, AND offer a less sporting drive compared to the 145 horsepower Lotus engined Jensen. The 900 series Lotus engine is actually quite reliable and solid. The Lotus 900 engine was around from 1972 to the mid 1990’s ending with the 4 cylinder Esprit Turbo. Parts are still available for these cars and engines (ex: http://www.jhps.com/), including performance upgrades even. Austin Healey/Jensen Healey Club and online forum support is out there for these cars as well. This Jensen Healey is a very complete and well sorted vehicle for the owner that is looking for a presentable classic drive around. This example should only need regular maintenance for the foreseeable future. Enjoy this Jensen Healey as it is. Exterior: The finish on this Jensen Healey is extremely presentable. The car looks very attractive due to the glossiness and quality of the dark green paint. It was stripped to bare steel and repainted within the last three of four years. It was repainted because it still had its original paint that was aged. The quality of the finish is definitely higher than average compared to other Jensen Healeys and other sub-$10,00 British classics. The finish is quite smooth. It is not Concours due to some difficult to notice small details here and there. The finish is absent of significant defects and wear like cracking, peeling, orange peel texture, runs, significant overspray, and etc. The vehicle has been driven less than 500 miles since being re-finished so stone chips and use type wear is absent. The most significant paint wear is on the passenger rear wheel well lip where from moving the car out of the garage part of that area got scraped. Luckily the area is not dented, it is just paint chipped off. It does not stand out or distract from the car. Some color matched touch up would help it even further. The shade of green matches on all of the body panels and the engine bay. It is a base-clear finish. The quality of reflections emitted from the finish is excellent. Watch in the video how glossy it is. Again, the finish is extremely presentable and aids in the enjoyment of this classic sports car. The dark green of course suits it very well!The body on this Jensen Healey is IMPRESSIVE! It was obviously taken care of and kept out of bad driving weather. The sheet metal is original to this car, including the floors which have not been repaired at all. The tops and the bottoms of the floors are pictured. Please note the top of the passenger floor is solid. The oxidation residue that is pictured was from some water getting on there and could be just wiped up. The rockers are rock solid and straight. The sub-frame is incredibly dry and impressive with its original textured protective coating still present. The bottoms of the doors, door jambs, lips of the hood, trunk lips, trunk jamb, truck floor, etc. are all extremely nice. There is also no evidence of accidents or accident repair. The body gaps are very good and where they should be for this type of car. The doors open and close very nicely and are not saggy. When kneeling down and looking down the side of the body, it looks excellent, very straight, absent of dings, and very glossy. The rear bumper is not present but the brackets are. It looks much better without the bumper and would look great with something like black rubber bumperettes where the bracket holes are. The front bumper could be sanded and re-sprayed to match the quality of the rest of the car. The trim piece that sits on top of the front bumper is included. The soft top frame is included without a top on it. The cover that goes over the convertible top when it is down is included. The tail lights, other lenses, trim, glass, and wheels also are all presentable and in nice condition. The engine bay is very clean. The engine bay was painted as the same time as the rest of the car so it matches very well in terms of quality, tint, and glossiness. The engine and other components themselves look appropriate for the mileage and age. An aftermarket hard top is included with the car. As listed, there are a couple minor exterior finishing items but as the car sits, it is extremely presentable as it is and can be enjoyed and driven as it is. This is an example that will look this good for quite some time due to the recent paint and how solid the body is. Interior:The interior on this Jensen Healey is also extremely presentable and in impressive condition. Much of it has been refurbished but is of the design of how it was originally. The very front of the dash where it is under the windshield has some very typical shrinkage that can be noticed when standing outside of the car looking down on it. That is probably the most notable wear item. The dash though does look very nice and is absent of typical cracks and splits. The glovebox is great too. Door panels are excellent as well as the trim and handles on them. The seat covers and foam are new and are excellent! The carpet is a new kit and is excellent. The steering wheel is good showing typical but minimal wear. Since the fuel tank was replaced with a stainless steel unit, a new fuel gauge was installed but matches well with the other gauges. The center console looks great as well. The roll bar gives the Jensen a very purposeful and sporty type look. The interior does not really need any attention. The interior aids in the driving enjoyment of this Jensen Healey. Mechanical:The most important mechanical aspects of this Jensen Healey are in very good condition, allowing this vehicle to be driven and enjoyed. The most significant mechanical aspect that should receive attention is proper mounting of the rear section of the exhaust. Currently it is held in position with thick wire. This Jensen starts up extremely nicely and quite easily. The Lotus engine runs nice and smooth and idles on its own without throttle modulation. It keeps a proper temperature. It does not smoke, spit, or any other goofiness. It sounds very healthy and goes through the RPM range as it should. Note there is a minor amount of coolant collecting on the bottom of a radiator hose in one of the pictures, which needed a hose clamp slightly tightened. It is a typical British car with typical minor amounts of fluids working their way out but nothing significant or needing to be addressed. The exhaust is an upgraded Monza system that sounds aggressive. As stated, it could use proper mounting. The clutch feels great and operates without issue. The transmission is the nicer 5 speed unit and shifts excellently without grinding. The differential does not exhibit any issues. The brakes operate as they should. The suspension is quite compliant. The rack and pinion steering is good. The tires are older but are matching and have much tread left. The gauges work, headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and etc. also work. Conclusion:Many Jensen Healeys had some rough existences. This is one was very well taken care of. The body is incredibly solid. The finish is very presentable with the dark green being very fitting for a classic British sports car. The Lotus 907 engine is a treat. Other British classics of the same era like the TR6 (100 horsepower) and the MGB (85 horsepower) currently cost thousands more in similar conditoin, are much more numerous, AND offer a less sporting drive compared to the 145 horsepower Lotus engined Jensen. The 900 series Lotus engine is actually quite reliable and solid. This example should only need basic maintenance in the future. The Lotus 900 engine was around from 1972 to the mid 1990’s ending with the 4 cylinder Esprit Turbo. Parts are still available for these cars and engines (ex: http://www.jhps.com/), including performance upgrades even. Austin Healey/Jense Healey Club and online forum support is out there for these cars as well. This Jensen Healey is a great vehicle for the owner that is looking exclusively for an extremely nice example to drive around. This Pantera is an original California BLUE PLATE car and is true NUMBERS MATCHING. The car was built in July of 1973 and sold through Peyton Lincoln Mercury in Harbor City, California. It spent its entire life on the west coast until we purchased it in February of 2014. 1973 was a great year for the Pantera as the Monocoque frames were finally properly built and coated to ensure a rust proof life. It was such a solid car that one day, Elvis Presley actually shot his Pantera with a gun. 1973 was also the same year that a group of Mangusta and Pantera owners began holding regular meetings at Peyton Lincoln Mercury (where this car was purchased from)......what emerged was the Pantero Owners Club of America. The Marti Report gave us some good insight into the history of the car showing us that its port of entry was also California. Having only produced a total of 1,258 cars in 1973, this was 1 of ONLY 178 in red. This example has its original, numbers matching, Ford 351C block #05119. The ZF Gearbox is a -2 series #007100. We rebuilt the heads on the car as we knew it had been sitting for sometime, and we thoroughly serviced all the cooling lines and radiators. The car runs and drives magnificently. It produces strong power and the wide rear tires provide a lot of forward bite on acceleration. The transmission/Gearbox is nice, quiet and shifts crisp and smooth. The exhaust is loud and throaty, so the car produces substantial noise coming down the street. The car has power mirrors which fits the car very nice. The wheels are in excellent condition as are the Bridgestone Potenza tires (new condition) that wrap them. The car stops nice and straight and tracks straight down the road. The interior has been left mostly original. The previous owner did replace the original seats with a nice set of Recaros which are much more comfortable and look correct in the car. We decided to take things one step further and completely repainted the exterior at our body shop, as we noticed some burn marks from years of buffing on the car. The cars body was disassembled in its entirety. We removed the doors, hood, engine cover, all trim and moldings, bumpers, and glass. The car was taken down to its original primer and metals. We have pictures of the entire project which can be provided upon request. There was no rust or replaced metal anywhere on the car. The car is extremely straight and showed no signs of any prior accident repair, which is always pleasing. The car was hand blocked through the entire painting process. We sprayed the car back into its original red color using Standox (DuPont) primer, base, and clears. Our techs are all I-Car certified so we hold our work to the highest standards. The car was then color sanded, buffed and reassembled. The finished product, as you can see, is outstanding! The body lines are all even and the panel fit is close to perfection. This car was undercoated from the dealer so all inner panels, wells, and engine bay panels are in excellent condition, free of rust. We heated and removed the undercoating from the engine bay so that we could respray it black. Additionally, the bumpers were reconditioned and look fantastic. This is hands down the finest example of a '73 Pantera that we have seen. The paint work is show quality and the entire package is stunning.
