This is an FX4, the model manufactured by Carbodies from the mid 50's through early 90's. A factory-made Left-hand drive, this car was imported to the US new in 1985, minus the engine and transmission, and was fitted with a new Ford 2300 cc gasoline engine and automatic transmission (from a Ranger) for use as a taxi in the US...the rest of the car is all original British parts and equipment. The meter is US made and does not have the sending unit, so it's decorative only. I bought the car at auction 5 years ago. After spending 2+ years cleaning it up, it's been my day to day in-city transportation for the last three years, though I didn't drive it in the winter. It did not require major work, but in the course of the clean-up, it got new brakes, new carb and distributor, hoses, belts, plugs, etc. The engine runs well and starts easily. I'm selling because I've taken a job overseas and cannot take the taxi with me. It's a really fun round-town car, fun to drive and makes a big splash wherever you go.
