A Ford GT40 may not be for everyone, but if you have a taste for Motorsports history then it's a great choice. A little over 100 original Ford GT40s were produced in the 1960s, and each surviving example has become a extremely valuable car to collectors. In recent years, these period GT40s have been selling for multi-millions, which makes this Superformance GT40 a super bargain. Ford GT40 MK1.In terms of historical motorsports significance, there are few cars with a higher iconic status than the Ford GT 40. Most Motorsports enthusiast know the legendary story of Ford vs Ferrari, and how the Ford GT40 beat Ferrari in endurance racing. The Superformance Ford GT40 is a continuation of the original story. The Superformance factory, based in South Africa, has been manufacturing a low volume line of GT40s. Their GT40 is so realistic and faithful to the original design, that it's currently being evaluated for historic racing eligibility. These Superformance collectable GT40s are continuation versions of the legendary 1964-69 Le Mans GT40 (MKI and MKII), licensed by Safir GT40 Spares, carry the continuation serial numbers GT40 P 2XXX. In keeping things authentic, each new GT40 is built as close to original specs as possible, both dimensionally and in terms of construction methods. In fact, two-thirds of the suspension pieces will bolt right onto the original chassis. The rigid steel monocoque chassis has an all-steel covered center body section. In the interest of drivability, durability, safety, and weight savings, several other improvements or upgrades were made to the original design. Most notable differences are the optional left hand driving position (originally RHD), optional center mounted shifter, the addition of air conditioning, and modern performance brakes. Each Superformance GT40 is sold new without a power train, a strategy that circumvents emissions and crash regulations, which the GT40 does not meet. A variety of big or small block engines can be used in the GT40. If you are interested in this car, please call or email. Ask for Mike. EHRLICH MOTORWERKS [email protected]
