MERZ ENGINEERING SPECIAL THE CAR THE BODY Chassis and body are Kurtis. The front end is a cross spring set by Milt Marion. International front spindles. Hubs made by Conde, rear axle is quick change, with Halibrand rear end. Ford shocks front and rear. Norden steering, brakes are Catton disc, with four Dayton Wire Wheels and hubs. Ford three speed transmission. Kurtis Torsion bar rear suspension. Length of Body 150 inches, Height of Tail 49 inches. Front tread 60 inches, Rear tread 52 inches. Wheelbase 98 inches THE ENGINE The engine is the Original Horning GMC 270 C.I.D. with 12 Port Iron Heads. The engine was developed for the Don Lee Bonneville Streamliner. All the Front Ancillary Drive is original. Roller Cams were developed by Chet Herbert. The Fuel Injection is Hilborn.Race History: Other than Indy Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in August 1950 when Neal Carter was its driver. In 1954, its last year, Eddie Sachs used it to take his driver’s test, unsuccessfully for the second time. OWNERSHIP HISTORY: Chassis #326-49. This KK2000, built in 1949, went to Milt Marion, of Mineola, New York . Milt Marion owned the car from 1949 to 1955. After that it was sold to Otto and Adolph Stoye, of Freeport, New York. The Stoye Brothers installed the Horning GMC in 1955 to enhance the low end power curve for short tracks and dirt tracts. The Horning GMC was developed for the Don - Lee Bonneville Streamliner car. In 1956, running as the Slick Airways #85, Gig Stephens could not get it up to qualifying speed. I have a reliable cool looking honda shadow 1100 with sidecar. Dont need a motorcycle license to ride it because of sidecar. Atleast thats the California law.Whats nice is it gets up and goes with the sidecar, and its comfortable. Doesnt leak anything. Tags are current. call me 760 688 5848
