1978 Lada 1200 (2101). Only 56,000 miles (90,881 KM). Soviet Red over Brown Leather. 4 Owners, mostly family owned. This was the car that started it all... the "People's car" of the Soviet Union. Also known as Vaz, Zhiguli and Kopeyka. Fiat 124. History: This Lada was gifted to a Soviet official in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1978. It was not uncommon for high ranking officials to receive Ladas as gifts for their service to the motherland. It was used as a spare car and mostly sat in a garage for decades. The original owner gave it to his grandson and it started to get driven more often. It was then sold to a gentleman who imported it to the United States 6 months ago, and I bought it from him. Upgrades: - Engine - The last owner had the engine fully rebuilt from the ground up while it was in Russia in 2014. It drives fantastic and has seen 5,000 miles since the rebuild. - Airbag Suspension - Allows you to raise up the vehicle or slam it to the ground. - Truck Horn - Lets people know your presence. - Alarm - Full security system with keyfob. - Stereo - Aftermarket deck and high quality stereo system (loud). - Interior Bits - Steering wheel, subtle red accents on dash, center console, etc. - Exterior - New red paint job, upgraded chrome vintage side mirrors, curb feelers. Other then that, the car is all original. Brakes, tires and clutch are all refreshed and work fantastic. I can't begin to explain all the thumbs up and smiles this car generates.... especially from Europeans, Russians and Cubans. Driving it in South Florida has been a treat and the car handles the heat great. You can turn the side windows to blow air at your face because Ladas didn't come with A/C. All the hard work has been done - simply register the car at your DMV like any normal US car. Clean title in hand with no liens.
