Panoz is one of those great exotic car companies that one day we will talk about in the same way we do now about the post-war coachbuilders of Europe. Only this story comes out of Georgia. The Panoz family takes their racing knowledge honed on the track and built it into a few select road cars like this Esperante roadster. The one part of this story that won't be like the small batch Europeans is build quality. While we often joke about how poorly those were built back in the day, Panoz really understands how to make uniform panels out of strong and lightweight SPF aluminum. The racer-grade alloy has been shaped into a unique and aggressive design. This is a low mileage babied exotic, and so the original blue paint still has an amazing luster that would make new cars jealous. This level of care is reflected in all the other components from the rear spoiler to the power folding roof. While this is a performance machine, it also was built to compete with the luxury exotics. You get a premium interior with tan leather bucket seats and plenty of wood on the dash. It has great features like an AM/FM/CD stereo, power locks, driver airbag, cruise control, tilt wheel, keyless entry, and ice cold air conditioning. Even with these added luxuries, you'll know this is a driver's vehicle the moment you grab the Momo performance steering wheel and turn the key to watch the white-faced gauges do their dance. The other great thing about turning the key is that it awakens the beast in the engine bay. When you take a look under the hood, you'll see that this is no ordinary Esperante. A handful were specially worked on by JRD Tuning. Think of the company in the same way that Dinan is to BMW or Roush to Ford. JRD takes the 4.6-liter V8 and supercharges it to a 525+ hp monster machine utilizing a Paxton NOVI supercharger amongst other upgrades. This is more than just bolting on power, the package also includes components like a new vented hood, stainless headers, new exhaust, high-performance clutch, six-speed transmission, and Brembo brakes. All of this is great for performance, but this Esperante RSr is also fine as a luxury cruiser. The overdrive transmission is connected to a limited slip rear end running a versatile 3.73 ratio. Plus, the Goodyear Eagle tires are perfect for performance and comfort. Best of all, the mileage has this one averaging barely over 1,000 miles per year, which is more evidence this Panoz was babied just like a cherished Mercedes or Ferrari. The Esperante is the kind of rare exotic that was built in low numbers, and of that small batch, even a smaller pool was given RSr treatment. This 1935 Graham Sedan Delivery was built with every luxury in mind, and the monster V8 motor is so fresh, you'll still be breaking it in. Graham is one of those independent automakers that focused on premium product, and so it wasn't able to survive in the post-WWII mass production environment. This makes the bodystyle extremely distinctive and something that may intrigue people to ask you more. So take this truly unique base and add in the amazing two-tone Royal Blue and pearlescent white paintwork, Moon hubcaps, and a beefy stance. In fact, the custom made chassis gives everything such an aggressive look that you know this one is fast just standing still. Just about every accessory that can be chromes was, except the door handles...because there are none. Like any good hot rod, the grabbers were deleted and you're utilizing remote door openers. When you do pop the doors, you'll see one of the coolest interiors ever. The dividing line for the blue and white paint on the outside continues seamlessly on the inside. The complete custom build includes leather bucket seats for two, but the comfort doesn't end there. This one has been outfitted with power windows, power locks, an AM/FM/CD stereo, and ice cold air conditioning running modern R-134a for easy maintenance. Some other neat touches include LED mood lighting throughout the interior, these are the kind of things you only see on a high dollar build such as this one. But as expected, this is a true driver's vehicle. You get a leather-wrapped Lecarra sports steering wheel and beyond that is a full set of Dolphin Gauges. With a custom build this wild and a motor open to the world, you better believe there is something quite special in the engine bay. This is a die-hard Chevy 350 small block that was built less than 650 miles ago and has been given a serious power boost. It starts with the 3x2 carburetors that feed the Offenhauser intake, and this creates plenty of go-juice for the professionally-built mild camshaft motor. The durability is in everything from the finned valve covers and oil pan to the braided steel tubing to the large electric fan. And when you go cruising at night, the whole engine bay is let up in blue neon. Even if all these dazzling effects don't make people see you coming, they'll hear you and fear you thanks to the dual exhaust that has very little restriction before it barks out the rear end. This monster motor is mated to a stout Muncie four-speed manual transmission that sends the power to a Ford nine-inch rear end. But all this power is nothing without control. That's why there is a I-beam front suspension, four-link coilover rear, four-wheel disc brakes, and wide modern tires masking as period-correct whitewalls. This 1928 Durant M2 is a great looking classic that will always give you a story to tell. The current title also indicates this car's 44,079 miles are original! This is the car you park right next to the '20s Chevrolets at the car shows to impress all the General Motors guys. After all, this car's namesake Billy Durant founded GM, and when he was asked to leave for a second time, there were plenty of other people willing to give this marketing mastermind a new car company. So Durants are the more interesting and more unique cousins to the GM products. This particular sedan could impress even without its interesting pedigree. The M2 line was only produced by Durant for one year. You can tell the burgundy and black two-tone paint was carefully applied at its last reaspray from all the intricate detail work. All the accessories from the black vinyl roof to the chrome on the grille look correct and are in great condition. The interior feels just as authentic as the exterior. The red fabric is a nice complementing shade to the exterior burgundy paint that also is used to trim the interior. It all looks exceptionally nice, and more importantly, its been restored so it all feels a bit fresher than 87 year-old fabric. The four-spoke steering wheel looks positively artistic today and the original gage package is always a nice touch. The glass looks good, and they roll down in all four of the wide opening doors. But for the best ventilation, the windshield tilts forward to creating a substantial breeze when needed. There is no radio, but the beautiful part of a classic like this is you'll create a mental soundtrack of a softly playing jazz trumpet. If you're not into making your own music, there is one other sound that never gets old. The combination of the 153 cubic-inch four-cylinder motor and three-speed manual transmission gives off an industrial symphony of simplicity. It is a rhythmic chug that feels like being in charge of a mini locomotive as the tempo increases with the acceleration. These cars were known for being quite comfortable with rubber engine mounts and four wheel brakes. You can also tell there's quality in the construction just by looking at the undercarriage photos. Everything from the yellow pine floorboards to the leaf springs are a great reminder of how sturdy things were built generations ago. Durants are not an unknown orphan car. They have an interesting history and a strong owner's club. So you can decide to be the most fascinating person at your local car show or join Durant fans at the larger gatherings. You even get the owner's manual with this one. So this classic offers a lot of opportunity for little money. A $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction's close. This deposit reserves the vehicle and removes it from the market. Acceptable payment types for deposit are: credit card, wire transfer, cashier's check, and money order. 5. If winning bidder does not contact Streetside Classic Cars and submit deposit within 48 hours of auction close, vehicle may be made available to the next highest bidder or another qualified buyer on a first come, first serve basis. 6.
