Hello, this is a very clean 90% + restored Ariel 500 single. (restored to its road racing days). The bike was originally raced back in the 1950's / 60's, and then again in the vintage class in the 1980's. The bike has many of the modifications common to a bike like this. It also has a completely rebuilt engine and trans with zero miles on them. The bike was completely disassembled in 2012 and everything was inspected / cleaned / refinished in addition to any machine work needed. The engine has a new sleeve, piston, rings, cam, crank brgs. The head is a big valve alloy unit with new valves and guides. It has a rebuilt lucas racing magneto with a super hot spark. Frame and girder fork are original Ariel units, frame number BP1878. Girder has a gas shock mod in place of the original spring. Wheels are newly built with alloy rims and stainless spokes. New Avon tires. Bike has alloy fenders. Gas tank is nice, oil pressure gauge and tach on gauge are present but not hooked up (tach needs 90 degree drive from cable to clock). The bike is wired with a working headlight and tail / brake light, and runs off battery. Bike has a clean Colorado title, bill of sale will be included. This bike has oil in it and I regularly kick it over by hand to circulate the oil. I am selling for health reasons. This bike has not been started since all the work was done as I'm not able to kick it over due to knee problems. There has been no gas in the tank since being cleaned and lined. This is an easy finish for someone, I'd just like it to go to someone who will finish it and appreciate it. This bike took first place in the British bike show here in Denver last year. Other than taking it to that show no one has ever seen it. Shipping costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. I will help any way I can from this end. This is a 1952 Ariel Square Four 1000cc British motorcycle project - motor was rebuilt and never run. Many new and spare parts. My husband purchased this bike and added the new parts like new wire harness and various gauges and decorative plates. It doesnt have a tank that is the only thing I can see is missing. But it does have a title! I k ow they are not an easy bike to come by - but this is a good project for the enthusiast. Just as you see in the photographs. 1962 Ariel Leader This sporty little 1962 Ariel Leader is a nice example of the British made 250cc two stroke vertical twin model produced between 1958 and 1965. This bike sports an earlier and somewhat amateur restoration which was intended for daily rider and not for concourse judging. The motorcycle starts and runs well and would be a lot of fun at any event or for a Sunday rider. Engine has new rods, rod bearings, main bearings including new babbit timing side bearing, re-bore with new pistons, camshaft replaced, head completely refreshed, and crank was serviced. New Morgo oil pump and Ariel club heavy duty sump plate with drain plug. First re-torque done, valves adjusted. Red dot ammeter (All post 1949 to 1958 Square Fours came with a Red Dot ammeter) and other electrics work properly. Proper Lucas lenses, new exhaust from Armours in England. New wiring harness from England. Any repop parts like grips, foot peg rubbers, cables sourced from specialists in England. Rare original factory dip switch mount with wires internally routed though bar as is proper from the factory. New tires, original fenders, head light nacelle (head light nacelles were fitted on all 1956 to the end of production Square Fours) and dashboard from factory. Proper fuel lines as from factory. Original ignition switch and key as from factory. New 19 amp hour battery installed. Chrome is very nice to excellent. Correct Lucas lenses front and rear - not re-pop. Offered for your vintage riding pleasure is a classic British single Ariel. The bike was sold new in Ft. Collins Colorado and spent its entire life in the state. Only two owners before we obtained it. The former owner owned it since 1976. He operated an independent motorcycle repair shop until his retirement. About 6 years ago he went thru the motor completely. For years this was his ride to and from work and used to explore the back roads in the mountains west of his city on Sundays. It is not stock as he modified it over the years to suit his needs. According to him the motor renovation included a new piston, valves and guides. A rod kit along with new pinion and sprocket shaft bearings were also installed at that time. It then received sparse usage after this work occurred. Alas, like a lot of us who have got a few years on us he found kick starting a large single wasn’t the fun it once was. It has new alloy fenders front and rear. The seat is a Bates style scrambler seat. The rubber is Dunlop K 70 universals. The frame isn’t modified as near as I can tell and it has a head light, no tail light. The bike has a clear Colorado title. It starts with a bit of effort and has tremendous compression. I can generally get it going in 5-6 kicks on a warm day. It could use some general cleaning up and probably would respond to some tuning to make it an easier starter. There are no other parts. What you see in the pictured is what is for sale. It is being sold as is and no warranty is offered as it is a 56 year old motorcycle. Please ask questions early to give me time to respond Please read and understand. This is our terms.
