This is a Norton ES2 1951 British Motorcycle - first produced in 1927. It was a long stroke single, always 79mm x 100mm bore and stroke, originally launched as a sport bike but throughout its long life it was gradually overtaken by more powerful models. It remained popular due to its reliability and ease of maintenance, as well as the traditional design. From 1947 the ES2 had an innovative hydraulically damped telescopic front fork and race developed rear plunger suspension. Here is a very original and to the most part unrestored example of the famous Norton 500cc sporting single, the ES2. This old thumper starts easily and sounds great. It is an old unrestored bike and the engine probably hasn’t been touched for years but it sounds OK. It really is a pleasure to ride this big old single. It pulls like a train through all the gears and whilst it doesn’t accelerate like a big twin, it more than makes up for it in character and charm Just as you see in the photographs.
