A no-holds-barred professional build, it is full of amazing details and simply awe-inspiring workmanship, making it one of the most spectacular cars we've ever represented. Willys coupes are iconic pieces of hot rodding history, whether they be gassers or brutal pro-street machines like this. Based on a fiberglass body, of course, this spectacular 1941 shows off what you get when cost is no object. The surfaces of the body were painstakingly smoothed by the guys at TNT in Detroit, and if anyone knows about getting cars to look amazing, it's these guys up in the Motor City. Then there's a ton of time wrapped up in getting the gaps right, the doors fitting just so, and all the other little stuff that separates the great rods from the merely interesting ones. The hood was modified to clear the scoop on the big blower and those headlights are from an Indian motorcycle, matching the Willys' original teardrop design but giving them a more high-tech look. Two strips of LEDs form the taillight and upper brake light, located just below the split rear window that's a big part of the Willys' appeal. Two stage urethane paint looks stunning with a color shift that seems to make it glow from within. Green and red flames lick across the hood and fenders, seeming to originate within the custom two-piece grille, and it's all buried under the clear for a truly seamless look. The leather-lined interior (and when we say leather-lined, we mean it: even the floor is leather!)is every bit as dramatic as the exterior. With custom-crafted seats, beautifully stitched upholstery, and details that delight the eye everywhere you look, THIS is what pro-built rods look like. There's not a single piece inside this car that wasn't tweaked or massaged in some way, including the custom painted tilt column, the leather-wrapped billet steering wheel, and even the Auto Meter instruments, which have custom-painted bezels inside a trick instrument pod. A hand-fabricated center console houses the auxiliary gauges and T-handle shifter for the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission, but no other switches or knobs mar its sleek, smooth look. You'll also note that the graphics wrap around into the door jambs, that even the brake pedal lever is painted to match the body, and every square inch of the trunk is finished in matching tan hides. Wow. The engine is a crate 502, but since leaving it stock is what everyone does, they slapped a set of aluminum heads and a giant 8-71 blower on top and feed it with a slick Kinsler fuel injection setup. Custom paint is everywhere you look, including the valve covers with airbrushed graphics, and anything that wasn't painted got polished or plated. This goes double underneath, where it was finished to win trophies, and the frame, suspension, and even the custom-built 9-inch rear end are treated to the same exceptional detailing, right down to filled welds and custom-painted green flames. Coil-overs, disc brakes, and a polished stainless exhaust system all mean that it's totally street legal, but with only shake-down miles on the clock, it's never been there. Giant billet wheels wear a big-n-little tire combination that truly defines the pro-street look. Show quality in every way, you will not find a nicer Willys anywhere. You couldn't build one yourself that's this nice, and certainly not for the price. We don't use the word "perfect" to describe cars, but we truly can't see how this one could be any closer to it. You can love the look and the build quality, but until you experience all 502 horsepower trying to rip up the pavement under those rear tires, you just don't know if you're man enough to drive it. But if you are, there definitely aren't many rides that are more entertaining than this one. With 1941 Willys coupes becoming as scarce as dinosaurs, it's a good thing that Show Me Rods stepped up to put fresh fiberglass replicas into circulation. This one was professionally finished, smoothed, and modified with shaved door handles and a pair of LED taillights, essentially boiling the Willys down to its bare essence. Once everything was in order, multiple coats of the stunning Sunburst Orange paint went on. Then there was more sanding and buffing, and the result is a spectacular finish that seems to glow from within and emphasizes the coupe's many complex curves. Up front, that pointed hood sits above a Willys "electric shaver" grille and the split rear window is a Willys design cue that dates back to the '30s. It shows almost no signs of use (it shows just over 9300 miles), and if there's a car that will draw a crowd at the local cruise night, this is it. Fortunately, it's also got the stones to back up the wicked look, but we'll get to that in a moment. You'd think that the interior would be small, but you'd be wrong. There's actually plenty of stretch-out space for two, thanks to wide, comfortable buckets with beautifully stitched leather hides. The tan upholstery is a low-key alternative to the flashy bodywork, and it makes it easy to spend a lot of time behind the wheel. A custom fabricated center console is the highlight of the entire passenger compartment, accented with a trick shifter for the 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. Upgrades include power windows, remote door poppers, Vintage Air heat and A/C, and an overhead console with the AM/FM/CD stereo head unit neatly installed. VDO supplied the beautiful white-faced gauges and there's a polished tilt steering column that makes it easy to get comfortable. In back, despite the massive wheel tubs, there's a fairly spacious trunk with custom upholstery that matches the interior. The massive powerplant under the hood is a GM crate 502, which is legendary for both durability and prodigious power output. In the relatively lightweight Willys, performance is explosive, although the full potential of this car has never been explored; as it has never been raced. It's a tight fit in the pointed engine bay, but they added plenty of flash in the form of a chrome air cleaner, polished valve covers with '502' emblems, and a block painted to match the bodywork. As you undoubtedly already know, these are easy-running powerplants with good street manners and it never gets cranky thanks to a giant radiator up front. The engine is backed by a fresh 700R4 4-speed automatic feeding a 9-inch Ford rear end that was also painted to match the body. Tubular A-arms with rack-and-pinion steering make up the front suspension, while the rear is a 4-link with coil-over shocks all around. Beautiful aluminum wheels have a vintage Torque Thrust look and wear massive 20-inch Dunlop radials that give it that wicked stance. When you take this car out for a drive, just make sure it's pointed where you want it to go before stomping the loud pedal. Just because this Willys is pretty, that doesn't mean that it isn't also nasty fast. If you're in the market for a fully capable modern street rod guaranteed to attract a crowd every time it sits still, settle in and learn a bit more about this incredible '41 Willys. BODYWORK/TRIM If this example is any indication, the crew at Kenny Davis Hot Rods certainly know how to get the best out of a Willys. Starting with an Outlaw fiberglass shell, the hood was first lowered and narrowed approximately two inches. Though a subtle modification, it does a great job accentuating the cars raked stance. All body seams were also smoothed for a sleek refined look. Panel fitment is excellent with even gaps all around. The overall build quality is notable throughout with a hood, trunk lid and doors that open smoothly and shut effortlessly. With the fiberglass body as straight as humanly possible, it was then topped with a union of House of Kolor Sunset Pearl and Cinnamon Pearl. Dividing those colors is a custom graphic that does a convincing job replicating the texture of brushed aluminum. The paintwork is brilliant and rich, reflecting the countless hours invested in making it look that way. While trim remains minimal, every piece is well chosen and executed on the highest level. Up front, a small chrome grille with vertical bars is centered underneath the pointe of the hood. Behind that grille, amber turn signals remain functional but out of sight. At either side, Mini Cooper headlights are seamlessly integrated into the Willys' bulging front fenders. As a nice-weather-only type of vehicle, there are no windshield wipers present to break up the flow of the front end. There are, however, small rear view mirrors that provide an adequate amount of rear visibility for normal road conditions. At the sides, door handles have been scrapped in favor of a cleaner look. All glass is show quality with a light layer of tiny gracing the side windows and signature split rear window. Out back, the sloping rear leads to a chrome license plate bracket with a thin chrome strip on either side leading to the small round taillights. Visually, this Willys is a show stopper from every angle. ENGINE Somewhere along the line, street rodding deities handed down a decree that all Willys must have the largest engines their builders can find. This sleek coupe follows those orders well with nothing less than a 555 cubic inch V8 built by Pro Modified legend Jim Oddy planted in the sub frame. Under the custom body color air cleaner cover, a FAST fuel injection system sends juice through body color Edelbrock intake manifold into ported aluminum heads dressed in hand built aluminum valve covers. Up front, a Meziere billet water pump, polished alternator, billet crank pulley and air conditioning compressor with a billet pulley hide function beneath form. The core of this mill is a Dart block fitted with Eagle rods, JE pistons, and a 0.720 lift Comp camshaft. Ignited by a MSD Pro-Billet distributor and 6AL ignition system, the car fires immediately, idles well and sounds capable of sending the average big block home with a bloody nose. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Backing that thunderous big block is a Jerry Lovell-built TH400 automatic transmission governed by a 3,200 stall converter and Derale Cooling Products HeatSink cooler. From there, power is sent to the wheels through a smoothed and painted Ford 9-inch rear end. The drivetrain's surroundings are impressive with painted, polished and fully detailed pieces around every corner. Spent gases float through large-diameter pipes, which center polished Magnaflow mufflers between an H-shaped crossover, 2.5-inch Jim Duggan headers and chrome-tipped, side-exit pipes. The front end is supported by a body color Heidts subframe which hosts polished double A-arms and manual rack-and-pinion steering. Out back, a polished, adjustable 4-link keeps the rear end planted. This Willys' aggressive stance comes courtesy of adjustable coil-overs installed in all four corners. When it comes time to reign in that 555, four-wheel disc brakes by Wilwood get the job done effortlessly. At the corners, Budnik wheels in sizes 18"x7.5" and 20"x13" fill the wheel wells perfectly with the help of Michelin rubber. INTERIOR Behind the shaved doors, a thoughtfully customized interior features the kind of quality usually reserved for high end luxury cars. Seating is provided by a pair of bucket seats covered in caramel-colored Ultraleather. Between them, a full-length console flows from the custom dash to beneath the rear window. Housing a B&M shifter and switches for the power windows, the console does a great job at anchoring the rich interior. At either side, the door panels feature an upward sweeping design covered in a mixture of caramel Ultraleather and flattened orange suede. Slick billet door handles fit the design perfectly, once again concealing function within form. From the driver's seat, a Billet Specialties steering wheel wrapped in matching leather sits atop a polished tilt steering column. Behind the wheel, a set of silver-faced Classic Instruments gauges keep tabs on voltage, oil pressure, speed, revs, fuel and temperature. In the center, an Eclipse head unit sends signal to speakers throughout the cabin including a 10" Diamond Audio subwoofer housed in a custom enclosure in the neatly finished trunk. BODYWORK/TRIM For over 25 years, Outlaw Performance in Avonmore, Pennsylvania has been a leading supplier of custom fiberglass bodies, and this spectacular '41 Willys coupe is a testament to just how well they've honed their craft. Purchased as one of their full body and chassis packages, it benefits from a hand-laminated, one piece construction technique which combines an embedded Poplar floorpan with a sturdy, unitized steel structure. Once that structure was in place, and the surrounding resin was completely dry, the body was carefully shipped to a small shop by the name of Rod Crafters in Welcome, North Carolina to receive a complete top to bottom shakedown. The build began with a highly detailed prep process that massaged all the cars fiberglass into a slick canvas which perfectly complements its exceptional build quality. Then a thick coat of PPG Fire Engine Red urethane was professionally applied under a sinister set of silver ghost flames. And finally, every panel was sealed in a glossy clearcoat shell that has been wet sanded and buffed to a fantastic shine. Today, with super smooth surfaces, exceptionally narrow gaps and solid sealing moving parts, this evil looking Willys coupe is a badass combination of hair raising performance and sizzling good looks! It's hard to find any well-done '41 Willys coupe that doesn't turn heads and inspire stares. But this car, with its excellent stance, hot rod paint job and simple, but professionally executed details, blows the conservative look of most 'once in a lifetime builds' right out of the water! Up front, a fresh chrome grille is centered between original style chrome trimmed halogen headlights. At the top of the car, a contoured hood, which fits around the big engine's shotgun hood scoop like a well-tailored glove, leads the eye to a full array of smoked glass that is sealed in fresh black weatherstripping. At the sides of the car, polished side-exit exhaust pipes look almost as good as they sound. And out back, a flush mounted LED tail light and a manually retractable license plate add a healthy dose of modern function to some of the best automotive form ever created. There's certainly no mistaking a Willys. And this coupe, with its great combination of superb craftsmanship and hot rod attitude, is the very definition of a street rod dream machine. ENGINE Though it manages to present a relatively simple and attractive appearance on the outside, everything about this super cool Willys is big; big time, big budget, big labor, and big appeal! Nowhere is that theme more evident than under the fiberglass hood where you'll find a completely detailed 502 cubic inch Jack Sprague sourced V8 that makes roughly 800 horsepower. At the top of that big engine, a pair of chrome Holley 4-barrel carburetors mix air from a polished shotgun intake with a steady stream of 100 octane racing fuel which travels through pristine stainless fuel lines that are equipped with a chrome Holley fuel pressure gauge. At the base of those carburetors, a chrome Weiand 8-71 blower sits between polished aluminum heads that are fitted with high quality chrome valve covers, and an MSD billet distributor that's fitted with Taylor premium plug wires. Cooling is provided by a heavy duty radiator which is sandwiched between a chrome cowl cover, chrome water tubes, dual nine inch pusher fans and a large diameter puller fan. Exhaust is handled by a pair of ceramic coated long tube headers which look great next to the big silver block. And charging is provided by a chrome alternator that, along with a chrome AC compressor and a polished water pump, spins between a nice set of chrome pulleys and sturdy chrome brackets. Aesthetically, this Willys tight engine bay is a virtually flawless piece of street rod art that literally contains no unfinished or un-plated pieces from its polished hood and chrome Tilton Engineering master cylinder to its chrome oil pan and braided hoses. And it displays a first-rate level of workmanship which requires multiple looks in order to really appreciate the car's high level of detail. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Behind that killer big block engine, a new Tilton Engineering hydraulic clutch engages a new Richmond 5-speed transmission which, like the motor itself, was sourced from Jack Sprague. Power from that proven transmission flows to a Ford nine inch rear end which spins tall 3.72 gears inside of a high performance Richard Childress Racing center section. That first class drivetrain is held off the ground by a boxed Outlaw chassis which, along with the suspension, has been bathed in a pleasant shade of gray paint that provides a perfect contrast to the car's Fire Engine Red floors. And speaking of suspension, the front of the car utilizes a familiar Mustang II set up that's equipped with traditional manual steering and modern coil over shocks to provide a pleasant ride with a vintage feel. And the back of the car combines a traditional four link system with two more modern coil over shocks to provide drag strip worthy launches. Serious stops to counter the car's serious power are provided by a four wheel disc brake system which is equipped with a brake proportioning valve, drilled and slotted front rotors and braided brake lines. Exhaust duties are handled by neatly packaged stainless side pipes which growl through high quality Dynatech high flow race mufflers. And keeping all this muscle rolling down the road is a slick set of 15 inch polished aluminum Billet Specialties wheels which wear 26x7.50 Hoosier Pro Street radials up front and 33x21.50 Hoosier Pro Street radials in the rear. With a beefy drivetrain that's been reliably built to be both tough and fun to drive, this '41 Willys is the real deal. And with its clean floors and super impressive hardware, it will fare well at any show you chose to attend! INTERIOR Naturally, no expense was spared on bringing this cars cozy cabin up to par with the rest of the build. The custom tan leather interior looks fantastic; and its fully power adjustable Corvette seats are comfortable, stylish and safe thanks to a sturdy pair of Simpson race harnesses. At the front of the car, a Fire Engine Red dash centers an MP3 compatible, and satellite capable, Pioneer CD player between slick, black-faced Classic Instruments gauges and hidden billet knobs that operate the cars accessories. Below that dash a Fire Engine Red console, which flows from the front of the cockpit to the front of the seats, props a billet control panel for the cars Vintage Air climate system and chrome switches for the cars power windows in front of a brake bias controller and a standard chrome shifter that is complete with a wicked skull shift knob. Below that console like-new tan carpet, which is protected by thick, color keyed floor mats, rides under a chrome emergency brake handle and chrome Tilton Engineering foot pedals. At the sides of that console, custom leather door panels hang stylish chrome door handles above sculpting which loosely mirrors the cars sinuous profile. And above that console, a custom tan headliner stretches from a leather wrapped windshield frame and a billet rearview mirror to custom rear panels which hang over a small, leather lined storage area. In front of the driver, a polished tilt steering column spins a leather wrapped, polished aluminum steering wheel. At the sides of the driver, a six point, body matched and leather wrapped roll cage ensures maximum safety should the car ever feel the need to become acrobatic. And behind the driver, a professionally finished trunk hangs a polished decklid over a leather wrapped fuel tank and a small carpeted cargo area. At the base of those carburetors, a polished Dyers 6-71 supercharger rides between polished breathers and polished, "CHEVROLET" branded valve covers. At the back of that blower, an aftermarket distributor shoots spark through proven MSD plug wires, which snake around 10 to 1 pistons, a Comp hydraulic roller cam and Summit Motorsports heads. Cooling is provided by a small aluminum radiator, which is strung in front of large SPAL puller fans. Exhaust travels through coated long-tube headers, which look great next to the block's bright red paint. Charge comes courtesy of a small alternator that, along with an aluminum water pump, spins on an array of billet hardware. And overall, the car displays a first-rate level of workmanship that conveys a high quality, tailored demeanor. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Behind that fire-breathing engine, a Muncie-style 4-speed, built to withstand 800 horsepower, twists torque through a vented 9-inch Currie to big, 4.32 gears. That first class drivetrain is held off the ground by a sturdy Outlaw Performance chassis, which is bathed in the same red hue as the car's smooth body. At the front of that chassis, modern tubular control arms utilize beefy coil-overs and quick rack-and-pinion steering to mix a pleasant ride with vintage feel. Got this in a trade awhile back, had plans to build, but just too many projects at this time so I am going to pass this one on. It is a fiberglass car sitting on a rolling chassis, has a GM front end clip with a chassis engineering back half with a narrowed 9 inch Ford housing with 31 spline Strange axles, set up with ladder bars and coil overs. Also included is an IFS front frame section if you want to change to a Mustang 2 type front suspension. It comes with inner and outer doors, inner and outer deck lid, and hood. Also included are some miscellaneous parts, Brake pedal assembly, master cylinder and booster, and some other stuff. Also have a new hinge kit for the doors and deck lid. The chassis is 90% done and body is in great shape, just some minor body work. This car comes with a bill of sale only. It has never been titled or issued a VIN Number.
