Recently received this 1973-4 Kawasaki Big Horn from an older gentleman who had it in the back of his garage for years. It is complete except for two missing pieces: the rear-tail light and the left-side cover. The seat has a tear in it and the clutch lever mount is broke as seen in the pictures. The back brake is completely seized as well as the engine; I don't know. It does not have a title, but it does have the key. Gas tank has no rust. Please send me any questions you may have, thanks.

Sensational Barn Find ! Bike was nearly 10 years in storage and fires up and runs ! I will add more pictures once the bike is cleaned up and polished. It runs great ! This is a one of a time opportunity to buy such a great Kawasaki Classic. The bike can be driven as is or will be the best possible base for a full restauration.

I purchased this as a brand-new leftover in 2004 from Powersports East (Bear, Delaware), where the service folks recently told me this is the best-running, best-maintained ZR-7S they know of. Needs absolutely nothing; I'd jump on and ride cross-country without a worry. Regular 3,000 mile oil changes with Repsol semi-synth. This bike has served me well for commuting, weekend back-road exploring, and occasional week-long touring throughout the north east US. Don't fear the 67,000 miles: it means the bike was ridden frequently, and year-round. There are plenty of low-mileage bikes for sale out there that have sat around too much, with carbs getting gummed up, fuel tanks rusting inside, electrical contacts corroding, and charging systems going bad.I'm an ex-USAF jet fighter mechanic so I'm big on preventative maintenance. I replace items before they wear out, fail or get corroded or sun faded, such as the cables, seat, rear shock, fork seals, cush-drive, mirrors, footpegs, turn signal mounts, fuel lines, hardware and lots more. Nearly new tires, brakes, and front master cylinder. Recent valve adjustment. Plenty of life left in chain, sprockets and clutch. All work has been done by either Powersports East or me.Tasteful and useful sport-touring modifications, such as a larger, tinted Zero Gravity windscreen, Givi racks and E-21 side cases (will fit any Givi Monokey series of cases), Givi Monolock E-350 top case and mount that goes with bike but not currently installed, Garmin GPS on RAM cradle, Formotion clock, Fiamm horn, Fenda Extenda, spot mirrors, Gafler stainless steel braided front brake lines, Progressive fork springs and custom PVC preloaders, upgraded headlight bulb, BMW Sport Grips, Battery Tender pigtail, extra RAM ball mount on throttle side, and fuel gauge modified for increased accuracy. The PAIR (exhaust air-injection) system has been removed for smoother running; otherwise, the engine, carbs, and exhaust are bone stock. Full maintenance/service/modifications log and all original sales paperwork goes to the buyer, along with the factory service manual (complete with notes and greasy fingerprints), Fuel-brand end can/muffler (English import) that was used for less then 1,000 miles, sheepskin butt pad, a tank bag or two, a bunch of misc. hardware/spare parts, original seat, spare headlight and gauge bulbs, Kisan Tailblazers, unused OEM fork springs, and maybe some other stuff I'll find hiding in the garage. Always garaged at home and at work. Never down, not even a parking lot tip-over. Tags good until March 2018! Has been reliable as a rock, lots of fun, and I'll miss it greatly, but I bought a new bike a few months ago and need to free up space in my small garage, so someone is going to get to steal this. Not interested in trades unless you've got a mountain bike of equal value. Willing to delete some of the extras to lower the price.

Needs absolutely nothing; I'd jump on and ride cross-country without a worry. Regular 3,000 mile oil changes with Repsol semi-synth. This bike has served me well for commuting, weekend back-road exploring, and occasional week-long touring throughout the north east US. Don't fear the 67,000 miles: it means the bike was ridden frequently, and year-round, so no carbs getting gummed up, fuel tank rusting inside, electrical contacts corroding, or charging systems going bad you'll find on garage queens. I'm an ex-USAF jet fighter mechanic so I'm big on preventative maintenance. I replace items before they wear out, fail or get corroded or sun faded, such as the cables, seat, rear shock, fork seals, cush-drive, mirrors, footpegs, turn signal mounts, fuel lines, hardware and lots more. Very good condition. Comes with original owners manual. Mileage may change as i still ride it around town now and then. New battery and fresh oil. Needs nothing and runs as it should. No ticking, smoking or knocking. No puddles under it either. Everything on the bike works as it should including the electric start and the horn. Inside the tank is very clean. NOT re-coated or epoxied. all metal inside this one. I believe its in exceptional condition for the age and hard to find one nicer. Local inspections welcome. I wont ship it. Do your research if you need it shipped. Motorcycle doesn't leave until I'm paid in full. Clean and clear title in hand. To see in person contact me at Eight four seven 9 0 9 Three seven four 2. A little History on Harry Hindall: Harry HindallHarry Hindall was a motorcycle frame builder, aerospace engineer, and a desert racer From England who learned his welding skills working from some of the best; Don and Derrick Rickman. A new job brought him to SoCal. where he worked for Northrop in L.A. area, and until the layoffs of the 70’s would work as an engineer. While in SoCal he became a desert racer in District 37 AMA. Others noticed his specially built Triumph Twin in his home built frame, and they asked to ride it.After that he had friends wanting frames built for their bikes as well. When he was layed off for a few years, he ramped up his production of hand built one-of-a-kinds’s to make frames for D & RT1’s, Suzuki’s 250/400, Kawasaki 350 Bighorns, BSA and Triumph Twins and Singles. His final design was a TT500 Yamaha. Most 2-stroke bikes were about 30 lbs lighter when done, and the Twins sometimes up to 60 lbs lighter! He also made his own plastic Rickman style tanks (in Red) and seat combos. You would custom order your frame telling him what forks and wheels you were going to use. He also sold lightweight hollow axles and swing arm bolts, as well as Adel clamps that were used to mount most anything to his frames without welding. Frames sold finished were all nickel plated, unfinished w/o motor mounts, and would come bare metal. Less than 75 total frames were built, and no real records were kept. But if you look at the bikes VIN’s they are very different. Both of these bikes end in #72. Made in 1972 maybe? Both bikes had the then new state of the art conical 1972 Yamaha front wheels on them. Maybe a clue… I believe the VIN is nothing more than a manufactures date, and nothing more. I have seen two bikes with big horn motors and the #71 as the last numbers also. This is an original Harry Hindall DT1 250 still the original nikel plating in the frame in excellent condition! this bike runs great! has the Akront shouldered rims, DT1 tank, Hindall seat, Motocross style bars (solid) Really nice rare bike! if you google Hary Hindall you will see several of his bikes that sold, another DT1 250 sold for $15000.00 you can have this one for less. Can crate and ship in the continental US , and can crate for overseas Shipping also .I will not ship overseas though. there is no title on this off road bike
