For sale is a an Original Paint 1972 Harley Sportster. This bike runs incredible, starts up with ease and idles nicely. I drove it about 100 miles and loved it. It has a brand new $150 heavy duty battery. I purchased this from a friend who ran into the side of a car that pulled out in front of him. The fender has some dents. The forks and the wheel were replaced. The motorcycle will need some work to be 100%, but again runs & drives as-is. Since it was involed in an accident, I always recommend having the bike checked for straightness. It will come with a PA Salvage title. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. Item is for sale locally. Bike located in West Chester, PA. Please read all descriptions thoroughly and ask all and any questions prior to bidding. Parts are used unless noted and wear should be expected with age. Always have trained proffesionals install your parts, and always consult with an expert prior to bidding or purchase. 1977 HARLEY-DAVIDSON XLCR CAFE RACER IRONHEAD SPORTSTER, Harley XLCR Café RacerThe Harley-Davidson XLCR was Willie G. Davidson's one and only brush with the cafe racer set, and it created a classic for all time Harley-Davidson XLCR 1977 cafe racer classic motorcycle sportster ironhead amf Heres a classic if there ever was one, designed by wille g davidson as a playtoy for himself, someone caught a glimpse of it in the background of a picture, the public went wild & demanded one.... they put them in production a few years later, classic style coffin gas tank, xr750 style rear tail, racer type shield, saw the article on this bike in the 1977 cycleworld, instantly fell in love, had to have one, first harley I ever had at 16 years old.....this one is all original down to the factory goodyear eagle a/t rwl tires.... has the early mufflers (ones that were recalled) most desireable.....got it off the original owners son in law....just a classic.... dont think these will ever do anything but appriciate, kind of a work of art!!!Years produced: 1977-1978Total production: 1,923Claimed power: 61bhp @ 6,200rpmTop speed: 110mphEngine type: 998cc, two-valve, 45-degree V-twin Weight: 234kg (515lb) wet The city streets were thick with traffic, but it was still a memorable ride. With deceptive speed, the slim, black Harley-Davidson XLCR carved a swath through the miles of slow-moving metal. The slightest twist of the throttle sent the torquey V-twin stomping effortlessly forward. Everywhere the menacing black Harley XLCR Café Racer went, its booming bass exhaust note cleared cars from its path, turned pedestrians’ heads and threatened to turn buildings to rubble.Magical stuff — and I wasn’t even riding the Harley, just following behind on a modern Honda while the XLCR’s owner led the way through his neighborhood with practiced ease. Even before I got to ride it, the original Harley-Davidson Café Racer had charmed me with its unique style and presence. But if that’s the V-twin’s great strength, then it’s also the Hog’s fatal flaw. For if ever a motorcycle was built for image rather than performance, this is the one.Read about Tony Long's experience of riding and owning a Harley XLCR Café Racer Form over functionThat was not quite what was intended when the Harley-Davidson XLCR — pronounced 'Excelsior,' one awe-struck tester commented — was launched in 1977. This is a matching numbers 1983 Harley XLX Sportster Ironhead. One of the last years that Ironheads left the Harley Davidson Motor Company factory. In 1986 the Sportster Ironhead engine was replaced by the Sportster Evolution engine. Some consider the Ironhead engine to be the last real Harley. This motorcycle also marks the great come back of Harley Davidson from AMF. It has a 1000 CC engine, four speed transmission, chain final drive and disc brakes front and rear. I have both the solo and two up seat with no rips or tears. You get both. This beautiful Sportster is all original with the exception of the handlebars. Also fork gators were added but they are “Jammer” type that can be easily removed without disassembling the forks. Low 6300 original miles. She starts easily, the engine sounds and runs great. Transmission is smooth and tight and shifts with ease through all gears. Never dropped or ridden in the rain. All fluids were changed at about 5800 miles. There is a new AGM sealed battery as well. Always garaged and covered. There are no leaks. There is a small ding on the top of the rear fender (next to last photo). There are no issues with this bike. This motorcycle has a has a clear and current California registration and title. Buyer must make a $500 non-refundable PayPal deposit within 24 hours of auction's end. The balance to be paid by cash or check within 7 days of auction's end. I can recommend a motorcycle shipper that will provide door-to-door delivery almost anywhere in the 48 states for $760 or less.

The narrow frame is more agile than ever. The rumbling V-Twin and muscular front end feel more powerful than ever. The flawless steel and jewel-like fuel tank reveal their authentic American motorcycle roots in every inch of detail.Iconic EngineThe Evolution engine riding in the nimble Sportster frame is a prime example of the power, durability and proven reliability The Motor Company was built on. Born from the legendary Shovelhead and Ironhead engines, it s been the power at the center of a Sportster motorcycle since 1984. Its overhead valve design and four-cam gear train have their roots in the company s race program, and you know it when you feel the surge of brute torque that accompanies every twist of the throttle. The air-cooled V-Twin design with a compact one-piece crankcase/transmission fits the narrow Sportster profile like a fist in a fingerless glove. We began with a strong, trouble-free design. Then gave it constant refinement to bring us to the modern powerplant of today. A testament to the unwavering hunger for advancement in motor technology that has always driven Harley-Davidson.TechnologyWhat the eye sees and the rider feels on a Sportster motorcycle goes deep beneath the surface. Which is where you ll find some our latest technology hard at work. The immaculate styling is due in part to an integrated electrical system that reduces wiring harnesses, switches, relays and fuses. Up for sale is a 1973 ironhead with a clean and clear Arizona title in my name. Can get a pennsylvania title if its a deal breaker. The good: Runs strong, recently timed it and adjusted the pushrods. Has an S&S super e on it New fork seals New drum shoes Has AMF original paint superglide tank. Electric start. The not so good: Missing front brake, caliper and master cylinder Clutch needs new plates, won't actuate quite right. Dead battery Tank is just kind of thrown on there Kicker is non-op Leaks oil, like all ironheads. Also have a headlight, new tail light lens and fender strut for it. Overall, just needs a few things to get it 100%. It's a good start for a chop. This is NOT a major project bike. Was my daily driver for 2 months, would not take much to get it 100% cruisable.

1982 Harley Davidson Sportster XLH 1000. Ironhead. Not an AMF. This is a one-owner bike that was only used in the summer in NY. 46,549 original miles. It's in good shape, starts right up, and is ready to ride. It has the original engine and paint. The windshield, pipes, seat, air cleaner, and kickstand are aftermarket. The oil tank is factory but is a replacement. The bike had a new clutch and ignition installed in 2012. The battery is about two years old. Brakes are good. The rear tire tread is at 2/32"; the front is at 4/32". Everything on the bike works, including the lights, horn, turn signals, speedometer, etc. The engine has a real slight oil leak (a few drops per day), which is common for bikes from this era. The bike is on a NY title, which is clean and in-hand. Includes a soft bag (not pictured) and a factory HD cover. It has always been garaged up until a few days ago when I moved it outside to make room for the new bike. The bike is located in Maricopa, AZ (near Phoenix). Will assist with shipping.
