BSA Lightning Motorcycle Does not run, but does have compression. Engine complete. Comes as seen in picture as a complete bike. It is a great project bike for someone that has some restoration time. It was intended to be restored, but I never got around to it. Selling it as-is. I lost the title during the move, so I will have to sell it via Bill-of-Sale. Any questions feel free to email me. Thanks.

Time to part with my 74 BSA Chopper. This has been a project bike for 8 years. It's bounced around a few shops on the west coast for various work. It has a brand new engine. It's not titled and needs a few things done before it's roadworthy and safe to ride. It's 95% ready to ride. Here are some things I can remember it may need before riding: New tires, front brake, turn signals, valve cover gaskets and possibly a battery. The old British bikes were right foot shifter and left rear brake. A friend some years ago engineered linkage to convert to left shifter and right rear brake. This may need some alignment or just taken off. The bike is 9' long. It sits low to the ground. I'm a medium built guy and comfortable with the height. If you are over 6' tall the bike may be a little small for you. It has a custom built frame, coffin gas tank, octagon oil tank, custom upholstered King & Queen seat, wrapped fishtails, springer front end and more. This is a 12 volt dc, negative ground bike. You can put 10 harleys next to each other and everyone with checkout this 74 chopper. There's nothing like it on the road. The engine is a BSA A-65 650. Spent $4,300 restoring the engine with Countryside Cycles in Florida. Have about $10k into this bike. Fully restored could be worth twice that amount. Asking $6,850. To save us both time, serious inquiries welcome. Feel free to call with questions. Thanks for looking. 909-268-1500.

Trying to make room for new project - offered for second and last time time, if it does not sell this time I will put into storage. Come and inspect 32003 just south of Jacksonville Florida I got this a few years ago as part of a deal, it was originally a BSA Lightning which the previous owner had installed a replacement motor from a same year, (1970), BSA Thunderbird. He had installed the better twin carb head from the Lightning onto the motor and re-installed into the bike. He had removed the carbs and sent them off to be rebuilt with steel slides. The carbs arrived but the bike, stripped to a frame with two wheels and an engine sat at the back of his garage for the best part of 30 years. The majority of the remaining parts were stored in Ziploc bags in cardboard boxes. I thought it would be a cheap project, how wrong I was! I decided that the bike was not and never would be original and that I would go for something different. I finished disassembling the bike and sent the frame and all bolt on parts for sand blasting and powder coating, (Deep Red Metallic). The fenders, headlamp, tail-light bracket and instrument brackets were sand blasted and powder coated metallic silver. The forks were stripped and the tubes, seals, springs and internal parts were replaced. The external components on the forks were blasted and powder coated to match the frame. New rear shocks were purchased for installation. A new-old-stock gas tank came from England, (not an Indian repro), which was orange and I had powder coated a charcoal grey. The tank badges were powder coated the same red as the frame with the side panels powder coated to match the tank. I did not install the side panels but they will come with the bike along with an original left-side Firebird Scrambler half side panel, (needs coating to match if it is to be used). The engine was completely disassembled, inspected and re-assembled with new-old-stock piston/rings after the bores, (which showed very little wear), were honed. The wheels were re-built using new chrome rims and stainless steel spokes from England before being fitted with new tires and tubes. A new chrome high-level exhaust, "chicken wire" heat shield and a set of trail handlebars were delivered from England at the same time as the wheels. The speedometer and tachometer were rebuilt out on the West Coast by a reputable company. The bike was re-assembled with all parts either being new chrome parts or the original parts blasted/powder coated parts, (no rust anywhere). A new Firebird wiring harness was installed which does not support the Amp meter so that is for show only. An original and very rare 1960’s BSA trial seat sitting on the even rarer original brackets designed for the A65 were installed. The original seat and rear (powder coated) footrests are included. I had a BSA expert install the harness and complete the wiring and he installed a new gel battery, engine/transmission lubricants and gas in the tank. The bike took a few kicks but started and ran well. I drove it around the sub-division and parked it back in my garage next to my 79 Bonneville, (a year ago), and that is where it has stayed with 2 miles on the odometer until today when charged the battery and got the bike bike started. Over the year it had wet-sumped so I drained and replaced the oil, this is a common issue with these bikes, I have a new anti wet sump valve that I did not install that I will include with the bike. I noted that the carbs will need adjustment or maybe even replacement as the left side"tickler was weeping until the bike started then it was fine. I did not ride the bike today, I only started and ran it, see video by searching you-tube for:- BSA lightning firebird scrambler and choosing the video uploaded on Dec 4,2016. It only did two miles on the first and second startups after a complete rebuild and will almost certainly need some further adjustments to ensure it is running well and is roadworthy. Because of this, the bike is for sale as-is with no warranty is implied or offered. Things I wish I had done - Removed a dent from the fender before powder coating it, purchased a lightning wiring harness, not spent so much money, I did not think I would ever decide to sell this but it needs to go to make way for a new project so thanks for looking, let me know if you need any further information. The bike is for sale elsewhere so do reserve the right to end the auction early. Located in Jacksonville Florida with clear Florida title in my name. Happy to help with shipping collection once the buyer has made the arrangements.

Here is a 1970 BSA A65L Lightning with 12000 miles on it. It is a all numbers matching bike with engine rebuilt in mid 90's and has about 500 miles on it. I have detailed service records for all work done. Tank and covers repainted in excellent condition, no rust in tank, petcocks rebuilt. It has sat for years but had it running a few weeks back. I had to shut it down due to an oil leak that came from one of the bolts that secure the valve cover(See last picture for location of oil leak). I am not sure what the issue is, it could just be a gasket. It will also need a new batteryIts a very clean bike with lots of potential. Comes with last registration and bill of sale.

1969 BSA A65T THUNDERBOLTMOTORCYCLE BARN FRESH SURVIVOR RESTORATION PROJECT ! ONE OF THOUSANDS OF ITEMS AVAILABLE IN OUR EBAY STORE! ITEM: 1969 BSA THUNDERBOLT A65TMANUFACTURER: BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS COMPANY / BSA, BIRMINGHAM, ENGLANDYEAR: 1969COLOR: BLACK and SILVERVIN NUMBER: JD 01**3 A65 TMILEAGE: UNKNOWNDESCRIPTION: Offered at auction is ONE (1) NEARLY COMPLETE, BARN FRESH, 1969 BSA THUNDERBOLT! This is the A65T model. Matching frame and engine numbers indicate that this was one of the first 1,300 bikes produced for 1969. Last inspected in 1972! Actual mileage is unknown but identified as less than 9,000 miles when title was reissued in New Jersey in 1988. As shown in the photos, this motorcycle was stored in a barn for the last thirty or forty years. Most of the metal parts are here, but the lights, instruments, shifting mechanism, wires, rubber, and several nuts will need to be replaced. Unfortunately, the motor appears to be seized – although we did not disassemble the engine, the motor will not kick-over when you stand on the kick starter. The bike is rolling, so the transmission appears to be in working order. A great opportunity to obtain a barn-fresh cycle for your next restoration or street racer / café racer project! CONDITION: GOOD in NON-RUNNING CONDITION. Although last licensed in New Jersey in 1972 – the sticker is still on the bike -- this motorcycle comes fresh from a Virginia barn. Wheel spokes and other iron parts have a light coating of pepper rust. There is one small dent, approx. 1/4" wide, located at the front of the left side of the gas tank -- you really have to look for find it. The inside of the tank has a light amount of rust and will require cleaning. Pipe parts and a collection of other small parts, including a fender and a headlight bucket, are included in a parts box that comes with the bike. I was unable to get the motor to turnover with the kick starter, so assume that the engine is seized. SHIPPING: LOCAL PICK-UP IN VIRGINIA. SHIPPING AVAILABLE WITHIN VIRGINIA FOR FUEL AND TRANSPORTATION COSTS. YOU CAN ALSO ARRANGE TO HAVE YOUR SHIPPING COMPANY PICK-UP THE MOTORCYCLE IN THE NORFOLK, VIRGINIA AREA. Cash, check, Paypal. Five hundred dollar ($500.00) NON-REFUNDABLE deposit due via Paypal within 24-hours of auction close. Ask ALL questions before you make your purchase; WE DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS OR PROVIDE REFUNDS DUE TO YOUR LACK OF DUE DILIGENCE. This motorcycle may sell locally prior to close of auction, so bid now to secure your opportunity to owner this motorcycle. Thanks for looking, and have a blessed day.

This is a 1971 BSA A65 Thunderbolt 650. It has been sitting in a garage for many years out of use. I bough the bike from the 2nd owner and it comes with a clear title. The speedo shows 8,760 miles. On april 20, 2015 I made sure there was oil in it and I put gas in the tank. It fired up after 3 kicks. for about a minute it smoked badly, then cleared up. Since then I have run it a few times and driven it around the yard with no smoke. It will still need carb work, it leaks gas out of the bowl and is dirty from sitting. The twist throttle mechanism or cable will also need some attention. The slightest turn of the throttle will bring the RPMs way up. The bike shifts through all the gears. This is a great project bike. I am not too familiar with the English bikes, so please ask any questions before bidding and I will do my best to answer them. This bike is being sold as is. I did notice a broken turn signal lens in the front, the right side of the tank is dented around the emblem. the rear loop/fender bracket has a broken off tube of some sort. It looked to maybe be a sissy bar mount? It should be visible in one of the pictures. The right side peg looks to be bent. Remember, it is a 40+ year old motorcycle, it has its fair share of scratches, scrapes and scuffs. Frame # CE02780A65 Motor # CE 05308 A65T I will not make any shipping arrangements. That is completely up to you. I have the ability to load it onto a truck if you arrange to have it shipped.
