1198cc V-4 VENTURE 90hp Yamaha's entry into the full-dress luxury touring market was the first motorcycle to be conceived from the beginning for the touring crowd. Rather than just adding a fairing to an existing machine, Yamaha engineers designed a total package. They succeeded very well. The Venture was extremely smooth and quiet, and was very comfortable. Yamaha claimed the seat was orthopedically designed for maximum comfort. The machine was also adjustable... the bars could be moved, the passenger pegs had three positions etc. This was a supreme attempt by Yamaha to oust the Goldwings from their perch as the most popular touring machine. This was the beginning of this great bike that so many of us have come to love and respect. The 1983 Yamaha Venture, also known as the 1983 Venture Royale, was the first first liquid-cooled, four stroke, V-4 Yamaha motorcycle. The bike was comfortable -- it came with an adjustable air suspension and its seat was orthopedically designed to deliver maximum comfort. In addition, the motorcycle was equipped with a stereo radio. Engine and Transmission The 1983 Yamaha Venture comes with a powerful 1198cc, or 73.1-cubic-inch, 90 horsepower engine. The engine has a 76.0mm bore and a 66mm stroke. Its compression ratio is 10.5:1. The engine is equipped with a Mikuni 34mm constant-vacuum carburetor. The bike has a battery-powered, inductive, magnetically triggered ignition. The 1983 Yamaha Venture has a five-speed transmission. Chassis The motorcycle has a double-downtube, full-cradle frame. Very good bike for cruising long distance. Paint finish is pretty good for a 1983. It has been well maintined. new rear tire, very good front tire, excellent brakes, excellent electrical, will pass a safety with flying colors. The bike is loaded with every option it could have and lots of extra chrome. Selling due to little time to ride any more due to back injury and would like to trade for a smaller street bike between 250 and 650. If you really want a nice XVZ and want to have a less common colour, then this one is for you. Chances are you will see 50 burgundy bikes before you see any gold ones. 1200CC engine is in great shape and meticulously kept that way.
