Beautiful 8000 mile example of this cool turbocharged touring bike. I got his from the original owners estate sitting in the back of the garage. It had been sitting for years. I resurrected it and drove it several hundred miles and love it! but i'm a harley and triumph guy and although I like all bikes it really is not my type of bike. But more about the bike, it runs great and drives great has the original owners manual with the tire gauge and the only thing I did to get it going was replace the fuel pump and rebuild the petcock and it runs beautifully. All the gauges work great. It has a few scratches here and there but nothing too noticeable. Original paint!! It's a big thing in the Harley world. Any questions feel free to call me at 508-965-12eight eight. My name is Marc Shipping can be arranged at the buyers expense.

Here she is, my beautiful 1982 CX500 Turbo, for your consideration. She runs great. Just did a complete service on her. Tires are good. Everything works as it should. The only reason I'm selling it is because I have my eyes set on a family member's 1984 BMW R100RT. Please let me know if you have any questions at all. Thank you.

The CX500 Turbo wears minimal patina. Paint is excellent and still holds its luster. There are a few minor nicks in the decals and very slight oxidation on the pipe end caps. The gold Comstar Rims are absolutely stunning and in perfect condition. The plastics are in beautiful shape with zero stress fractures. This is a great example of a motorcycle from a time when the Japanese were experimenting with new and novel ways to achieve more power. This bike was part of a sub grouping within the collection, of Turbo bikes from other Japanese makes, that include both an 82 Yamaha Seca Turbo and an exceedingly rare Z1R-TC. The seller is open to offers for a package grouping. As stated, the bike was part of a static display. It has been stored in a climate controlled space for the past 15 years. Though it is in beautiful shape, Fluids and tune up will be required to get it roadworthy. We are happy to assist with shipping on our end, but all fees and arrangements must be handled by the buyer. All international customers will be required to have payment clear the bank before the motorcycle trades hands. For other amazing bikes from this collection, please checkout our other motorcycle offerings on Ebay.

Make us an offer on this bike!! You never know!! We are selling a few bikes from our private collection. This is a 1983 CX500TC Turbo. We bought this bike in 2005 out of Iowa. A 3-year ground-up restoration was completed on this beautiful bike in 2010. Every part, grommet, nut and bolt was removed from this bike. Every part on this bike has been either plated, powder coated, painted, polished, restored or replaced. There are countless hours and thousands of dollars spent on this very complicated restoration. This is no doubt one of the finest CX500 Turbos on the planet. A true collectors item and ready to add to your collection or to hit the show circuit. Look at the pictures carefully and you will see how much detail was paid attention to on this restoration. From the windshield cleaning instructions decal to the tip of the rear fender, we brought this one back to almost showroom new condition. I'll be glad to discuss in detail exactly what we did to the bike during the restoration to any serious buyer. Nicknamed the $6 Million Motorcycle in its day as this is what Honda spent on the development of this true piece of history. Mostly a statement as to the Honda engineering teams abilities, this is the very first motorcycle produced with dual front disc brakes, rear disk brakes, shaft driven, adjustable front & rear suspension, turbocharged, fuel injected and all this with a vertically opposed V-Twin engine. The bike has 26 miles on the restoration. We chose to keep the speedometer at the actual mileage when we purchased it. The pictures speak for themselves as to the quality of the restoration. A few things you can't see other than the obvious are the rebuilt Turbo done by Mr. Turbo, valve job including new seals, new stator, radiator flush and all calipers have new seals. We bought and used as many OEM parts as possible. Two things that I know of are not original to this bike. First, the seat. We purchased a brand new CX650 Turbo seat from a Honda dealer friend of ours. The 650TC seat is almost identical to the CX500TC except for the strap. We chose to go with a Honda original seat that was close to the original versus an aftermarket seat cover. The second thing are the wheels. The wheels were gold anodized when new. The wheels are original to the bike but we painted them versus anodizing them. Our plating contact said we would have to disassemble the wheels to anodize them. The wheels clearly say on them not to take them apart so we stayed on the side of caution. I noticed when we took these pictures the tank has some surface and could use a cleaning but is still useable. It hasn't been coated. This bike was built in 11/81 which makes it an early made bike in the one year run of the CX500TC. According to the Honda ID Guide, this is bike number 933 of an estimated 5,400 produced world wide. It is estimated only less than 2,000 are left. Motor number is PC03E-2002083 which makes it a numbers matching bike. Please ask any questions you have and look at all the pictures. Cycle World, June 1981Hot on the heels of Honda's CX500 Turbo, the Yamaha 650 Seca Turbo, despite its futuristic looks, was something totally different. With air instead of water cooling, four instead of two cylinders, and, interestingly of all, pressurized carbs in place of fuel injection, the blown Seca took an entirely different approach to what a turbocharged motorcycle should be.Many expressed doubts as to the durability of an air-cooled engine under duress of a turbocharger; those reservations would prove unfounded (80,000+ mile Seca Turbos that have never had major engine work or even blown a turbocharger are quite common). The pressurized carbs worked very well ("Best carbureted bike I've ever ridden" -- Bob Miller, President, T.M.I.O.A.).'82 Seca Turbos suffered from weak performance when they were initially introduced. Tired of being embarrassed by Honda CX500 Turbos in head-to-head tests Yamaha rushed out a "Power-Up" kit (free of charge!) that consisted of an inline boost pressure sensor/restrictor that fooled the turbo into thinking boost was lower than it was, and a washer that you stuck at the end of your right-side turbo exhaust muffler to increase back pressure. Both measures were designed to increase boost pressure and keep it in the cylinders longer. Peak boost went from an anemic 7 psi to a respectable 12 psi. The bad news for '82 Seca Turbo owners ('83 models came with the modification) is that Yamaha ran out of the kits in 1985. The good news is that you don't need it. Simply disconnect the vacuum hose leading to the wastegate actuator, clamp it shut, close up the hole in the actuator and experience the thrill of 14 psi. The poppet valve in the surge tank now serves as your "wastegate" to keep the engine from exploding. This also solves the problem of turbocharger wastegates failing to close, a common cause of power loss in Yamaha Turbos (blame it on the placement of the unit under the engine where it collects all sorts of road debris). The Power-Up Kit, thicker forks and a larger 5-gallon gas tank in 1983 helped sales somewhat, but a price drop to $3100 in 1984 (an '82 could be had for $2800) helped more to clear the floors of unwanted Seca Turbos. Average Seca Turbos go for $2,500-3,500. Low mileage bikes bring about $3,500 to $4,500 today. Showroom/museum examples may fetch $5,000, but Seca Turbos in such a state are extremely rare. '83 models, with their 1mm thicker forks and 1 gallon larger gas tanks bring more due to rarity and production numbers.
