This 1989 R100RT is in great original shape. While the paint is not perfect it presents very well and has some nice original patina. Starts right up and idles smoothly and rides great. Previous owner did all of his own maintenance and took exceptional care of the bike. Side bags in great shape, fairly new tall windshield and a nice corbin seat.

1982 BMW R/100/RT, The Classic Air Head R/100/RT. This one runs & rides just as it should. It has a New Metzeler "Lasertec' front tire, and a like new Metzeler ME88 "Marathon" on the  back. We have checked the charging system, in addition to that we have done a complete service on it too. The steering stem bearings have been replaced too.  The paint on the bike is in very nice condition, it has been touched up on the fairing, {it looks like they used a spray can}. Comes with the large cap. BMW bags. The seat is a bit ugly,  and has some flaws, but it is very comfortable.  It can be seen at our Bettendorf, Iowa store. Also be sure to visit brennys dot com for this, and lots of other bikes, and ATVs!!!

This is a great project bike for someone looking to bring an airhead back to life. This RT is in good cosmetic condition and will need a little work to get it down the road. We completed a safety inspection and the technician's findings are in the service report below. Keep in mind this bike may need additional work not listed; our safety inspection is thorough however it can only cover what we see. All motorcycles of this vintage and mileage will most likely require work and care below the surface. If the purchaser of this motorcycle is not capable of working on this bike we would be happy to do the work. All MAX BMW Motorcycle stores are BMW heritage service centers and stock genuine BMW parts or quality aftermarket parts for this bike. Call Frank (x112) or Jim (x119) at 603-964-2877 with questions or to purchase this machine.

BMW Motorcycle R100RT 1982 Vintage All Original This was the most expensive bike in 1982 and has the solid German Engineering feel you expect in a BMW. A 980cc, boxer style, air cooled engine, with 5 speed transmission, this bike can be a daily driver. This comes with original fairing, original saddlebags, original toolkit, original wheel lock cable, owners manual, papers, and with the larger 5 gal. tank. Relatively new tires. New fluids, rubber, battery, and I run 100% gasoline (no ethanol) through the engine. I run it weekly, but drive it only about once a month, primarily cruising to the island. See the pictures and let me know if you want more or have questions.

Up for sale is a 1982 BMW R100 RT in full café racer glory! This bike has been my baby; it’s been a labor of love which I have now have to sell. Thats the problem with building these bikes, sometimes you fall in love with them. Absolutely no expense (or blood sweat and tears) have been spared in the building of this café. My goal was to build another café racer with the legendary BMW reliability and ride ability that really turns heads. BMW’s have always been the best bikes on the road, but I think most would agree not the prettiest. My aim is always to fix this. I started by addressing all of the known weak points on these older airheads by swapping out and up grading parts to the very best available (see parts list below), Then after a few hundred miles of tweaking, a total frame up restoration began. I have a full build file with a nauseating amount of detail photos of the entire process that will of course come with the bike. The frame had all the now un-necessary tabs removed, the sub frame shortened 8 inches so the seat and rear end had a smoother line and was painted with KBS Coatings Jet Black enamel epoxy for durability. The same product was used on the wheels for a meaner look. The steering head and swing arm bearings were replaced and the build was truly on! The engine was stripped and totally gone through from the big end up. A new clutch, Mikuni flatside carbs, upgraded 450 watt charging system, timing chain etc... (see parts list) and purrs like a kitten (or tiger depending on the revs!!). Then I totally rebuilt the forks using all new seals and progressive springs and period correct 13 rib fork boots, while they were apart I also painted them with the same KBS Coatings to carry the smooth look throughout the whole bike. At this time I also added a telefix fork brace and Boxerworks billet top clamp for stiffness and handling. The dual Brembo calipers were stripped, seals replaced and painted with high temp black caliper paint. I fully rebuilt the final drive and (you guessed it) painted that too, and installed the swing arm with a new boot, new D-shaft bolts and new Progressive shocks. I replaced all the cables and hoses and upgraded the front and rear brakes to braided stainless Steel lines. Then I installed the exhaust with shorty megaphone cans and wrapped the headers in titanium hod-rod wrapping that reduced the pipe temp by almost half! The perfect handle bar turned out to be an 70's Daytona flat track bar which futher improved comfort and the lines. The tank took me almost a month to decide on there were just so many choices!! I finally decided that paint is over-rated and stripped then buffed the tank. That still didn't scratch my itch so I frosted a center racing stripe in the bead blaster and coated the whole thing in KBS Coatings Diamond clear for durability. I wanted the seat and tank to be vaguely reminiscent of a Manx TT bike so I went with a black leather wrapped seat and cowl to really stand out. I wanted a chunky street tracker look so I fitted 4.5 inch street legal trials tires. The bike does not ride like a regular beemer, this thing hauls ass! It's almost 100lbs lighter than a stock bike and the new carbs really liven up the ride. The seating position is spot on for someone 5'6 to 6'1. I really could rattle on about the bike for pages and pages but take a look at the pictures, read the parts list below and ask any questions you may have. There isn’t a more beautiful, well-made or better running R100 out there. This bike needs nothing and is perfect for riding and or showing. It wasn’t built to be a trailer queen but it could be! C’mon people, make me an offer! I will provide a “Bumber to Bumper” 3 month warranty on every piece of the bike, and if you hit the “buy it now” I’ll provide free shipping to anywhere in the continental US. I don't fall in love with every bike the garage builds, but I'm head over heals for this one. She was built to be mine but if you love something set it free. AIRHEADS FOR LIFE!!! Here she is, my beautiful 1982 CX500 Turbo, for your consideration. She runs great. Just did a complete service on her. Tires are good. Everything works as it should. The only reason I'm selling it is because I have my eyes set on a family member's 1984 BMW R100RT. Please let me know if you have any questions at all. Thank you.
