Bike has been gone through down to every nut and bolt. Valves re-lapped and adjusted. All new gaskets and seals. (so far I can't find any leaks or seepage) All of the screws that were the #3 phillips style we all hate so much have been replaced with polished stainless steel allen heads. All of the screw holes in the head for the cam bearings and the valve cover have been heli-coiled to prevent stripped and or broken screws. Anti-sieze used on everything with a few exceptions where it would cause problems. Everything has either been freshly painted or polished. Many custom "one-off" parts. Front brakes are from a CBR954. Frame narrowed in the rear and all un-used tabs ground off. Frame was then sand blasted and painted. Tank has been treated and then coated with Caswell epoxy. "Pingel" style petcock. Oil pressure gauge in the center of the instrument cluster. LED indicators for the blinkers and high beam. Needs a different set of blinkers. I bought a cheap set off of Ebay and the lenses crack if you look at them funny. (To me that isn't a big deal since I usually don't run blinkers but, I made the wiring harness with provisions for them so, it's up to you) Custom wiring harness made with all new connectors of the appropriate style. (not BS Home Depot spades and butt connectors) Wiring is all high temp polyethylene insulated expensive stuff. I converted the alternator to a 3 phase from a 1980 model so the battery will stay charged. Also, the electric start actually works. Granted, a toddler could probably kick-start this thing but, it's nice to be able to just push the go button. It handles beautifully. Very neutral and stable. Transmission is perfect and shifts very nicely and smooth. Front brakes are extremely strong but, predictable. Really nice around town bar hopper kinda thing. It has a bit more power than I was expecting from a 650 and runs really nice. I'm pretty solid on the price. But, cash talks. Low-ball offers will be scornfully rejected.

1979 Kawasaki LTD 1000 Midnight Blue with OEM feathered decals. This bike is a nice original example of the the cool Superbike era of the late 1970s when bikes were fast yet still comfortable. This bike is a good running bike with only 13,044 original miles, it has newer Dunlop white lettered tires that are no longer available, which are in great shape, the bike has had recent maintenance having the carbs cleaned, tuned, and synced, also a new battery. The bike starts and runs great. It was kept in storage from 1982 until 2014 which is why it has such low miles, but over the years it has developed some lite surface rust and corrosion on misc parts, most likely from climate change and condensation inside the building it was kept in. I have not done any serious cleaning or detailing on the bike but I believe most of that could be scrubbed off with some lite duty cleaner or 000 steel wool. Or just ride it as it is. There is a small tear in the back left side of the seat. This bike also comes with its original exhaust system that was pulled off the bike at approx 1000 miles, and the Kerker 4 into 1 system was installed along with jetting, filters, and coils at the same time in 1979. The OEM factory exhaust system is in excellent condition and is included. These bikes are getting hard and harder to find in nice condition, I've watched several this year sell for over $8k on eBay that were only a point or two over this bikes condition. Pictures tell the story, or come check it out for yourself. Buy something that's only going up in value. Original clear title in hand. Interested parties may call me at 616-218-6454 Mike Feel free to ask questions No Deadbeat Hyenas, international buyers are always welcome. Please Note, all of the items I sell on eBay are considered to be antiques, they are not new,and are sold as is, and carry NO warranty. Please read the item description I work really hard to tell it like it is,so we are both happy with our eBay experience. Every attempt has been made to describe them accurately and thoroughly without boring my audience, I am not considered to be an expert on this item so please feel free to ask questions before you bid. I will do my best to answer all questions. eBay's shipping calculator is for reference only,it is not the gospel. If you see as shipping price that looks unreasonable please feel free to contact me I charge actual shipping and crating cost, what it cost me is what you pay. For sale is a 1979 KZ650 C3 with just under 17K miles. This is a 2 owner bike that has spent the last 23 years in storage. It has a new Yuasa battery, Dyna coils and wires with oem CDI ignition system, new oring chain and sprockets, rear tire, rebuilt master cylinders and calipers, new fork seals with dust boots, rebuilt carbs, 2 out of 4 airbox boots replaced with new air filter and new halogen headlight. The factory paint shows some minor scuffs and scratches with almost no fading. The tank interior is perfectly clean as new and there is a dent above the left emblem as seen in pics. There is also a long shallow crease where something fell on it while in storage. There was a luggage rack installed at some point and scratched the sides of the tail fin down low. The left side cover has a crack on the front leading edge with a quality repair made from the inside and the original seat has a clean rust free base with all warning stickers; but could needs repair or a new cover. The chrome fenders still look good with minor flaws and the stock exhaust is totally solid with chrome wear from storage; but no dents or scrapes. The hard to find factory Toyo mirrors and grab handles are present and still in great shape! The original owner used this bike regularly until about 1991 according to the pile of insurance cards found under the seat with owners manual. The bike was parked for a leaky head gasket until about 2013 when the kid next door bought it. That owner bought a service manual, but luckily never attempted any repairs not being the mechanical type. I purchased it in May of this year and replaced the head gasket with a good quality oem unit from an early 80's model with better sealing capabilities. I only had to make a couple changes on the valve shimming and have since put 350 trouble free miles on it. The malfunctioning Kawasaki clean air system has been disabled and completely removed. I also performed other PM services such as swing arm and steering neck bearing lubrication and also converted the brake fluid to DOT 5 synthetic. Overall, this bike is in awesome survivor condition. It starts, runs, rides and stops beautifully and is very well mannered both in traffic and out on the highway with a smooth quiet engine and a nice tight transmission. This bike comes with owners manual, service manual, warranty letter, partial tool kit and one factory key that operates all 3 locks on the bike. The 79 C3 was the last year for the C as it was originally designed with triple disc brakes and probably the most reliable with auto cam chain tensioner from the factory. Although this bike shows cosmetic wear, it is in outstanding mechanical condition and is worthy of a restoration or use as is for a super dependable rider. All of the expensive and labor intensive services have already been done for you - just throw your plate on and ride it. Personal inspections are welcomed and encouraged - there is a $500 paypal deposit required at time of sale with balance to be paid within a week by cash or bank wire. Possible delivery is available in the northeast for a fee.

ONLY 400 miles on this extremely well preserved 1979 XS Eleven in Indigo Blue. It is all stock as it came from "Anaheim Motorcycles" in 1978 as a 1979 1100F model. The bike was first purchased in the fall of 1978 but it was only registered for 3 years up to 1981. I have the registration records 1978-1981 and the license plate sticker shows 1981 as well. As of last year the bike is registered in CA and has a clean title. When I bought the bike it had the original tires still in new condition. I decided to replace them with the OEM Bridgstone brand to stay as authentic as possible for safety reasons only. I still have the original tires and inner tubes which amazingly look new and are soft to the touch. The carburetors were professionally cleaned and refurbished using only new old stock (NOS) parts. The engine runs as it should considering it's basically a brand new machine. The exhaust system is in excellent condition, and sounds beautiful. The engine purrs at cruising speeds, but when you give it some gas it growls and accelerates with no hesitation. All bolts and nuts are like new. The new battery fires up the bike instantly and it idles perfectly. The XS11 has a stock 95 HP engine which makes it as fast as a modern motorcycle. The "Eleven" in the name not only stands for the displacement but also the quarter mile time (which is sub 12 seconds) achieved easily. Original owner's manual, toolkit, and emergency kick starter are also included. Asking 8,900 For fun you might want to search Youtube for the 1978 Castrol Production Bike Race at Amaroo Park where the XS1100 beat the rival 6 cylinder Honda CBX1000 and Suzuki GS1100, Ducati 900SS, and BMW R100S while no Kawasaki KZ1000 models were present the new Z1R made its debut.

Up for sale is a very clean YAMAHA XS 650 ,Has about 17,000 miles on it about 900 with fresh top end , all original except for the Kirker headers on the bike I do not have the original Pipes , also I removed the points and condenser and installed an electronic Ignition for a more reliable ride , other that that it is all ORIGINAL STOCK bike , the seat , cables , and everything else are original , I have installed new tires and tubes and rim strips for the spokes , the aluminum rims are absolutely perfect ! Changed the brakes out when the tires were installed this bike is ready to ride Seriously , Added a new Gel Battery , All original paint and graphics . Had the carbs rebuilt and tuned at Shear's Cycles in Newark Ca. This bike sounds great and rides even nicer . Was stored in a garage since 1989 . I have owned this bike since 2012 and it has current license and registration in California ...... Model history[edit]The 1970 model was designated the XS-1.[2] Subsequent Yamaha Xs650 models[3] were XS-1B (1971), XS-2 (1972), then TX (1973), TX-A (1974), XS-B (1975), XS-C (1976), XS-D (1977), XS-E (1978), XS-F (1979). 1979 was the last year of the so-called "Standards" (an unofficial term commonly used to differentate it from the "Special," which has pullback bars, a teardrop tank, and other differences in appearance). The Es and Fs also came in Special form: XS-SE (S for Special) and XS-SF. From then on they were Specials only to XS-SG, XS-SH, XS-SJ, XS-SK. There was a Special II (Two) model designation in 1979 (XS-SF-II), 1980 (XS-G), 1981 (XS-H) which were models with fewer chrome parts and drum rear brake (1979, 1980) or wire wheels (1981) versus disc rear brake or cast wheels. The first two model years (XS-1 and XS-1B) were kick start only, with an electric starter added from the 1972 model year on. This had a compression release added to the front left exhaust tappet cover resulting in a square versus triangular cover found on the other exhaust and intake covers. Upon removal of the compression release mechanism in 1974 due to uprated starter, the square cover at the left exhaust valve was continued.Brake modification notes:Drum fronts on early models cannot be changed.Pre '77 & post '77 fronts have different (offset) brake discs, the wheels swap but not the discs.Drum rear wheel into rear disc frame needs the rear drum frame swingarm too.Disk rear wheel into rear drum frame needs the rear disc frame swingarm and also needs brake master-cylinder lugs welded to the frame.Handling differences on swapping rear wheels:-Standard rear tire is 110/90-18. Special rear tire is 130/90-16. Because the Standard tire is narrower it will tend to steer a bit more quickly. Because the Special tire is wider it will tend to be a bit steadier in a straight line. Overall gearing is not changed from the Standard, as the two tires are essentially the same outside diameter.Prior to the XS-B model, the bike had a reputation for speed wobbles but adjustments to the 1975 setup overcame these.1976 models had the front brake caliper moved to the right fork leg, behind the fork as opposed to in front of the fork. This placed the brake caliper nearer the axle center-line, requiring slightly less effort to steer.Mid-'77 the front forks had a major redesign, fork tube diameter increased from 34 to 35 mm (1.4 in) and internals were changed (although this also holds true for various years of the same tube size). The entire fork assembly (with triple tree) will swap either way but fork parts are not equivalent. Also the brake caliper changed from a 48 mm (1.9 in) dual piston cast iron design for the 34 mm (1.3 in) fork to a 40 mm (1.6 in) aluminum single piston floating caliper for the 35 mm (1.4 in) forks. The brake caliper mounting lugs on the fork sliders are of different spacing for the 34 mm (1.3 in) and 35 mm (1.4 in) forks so the calipers can't be swapped.End of production[edit]The XS 650 was produced until 1985. The last model year was 1983 in the United States, with Canada, Europe and other markets continuing into 1984 and 1985. However, many US models remained unsold for some years due to overproduction and an economic recession and brand new 1982 and 1983 models could still be purchased in 1987 at some dealerships.Design[edit]Engine[edit]Like its contemporaries in its class the XS 650 has a 360° crank angle. This provides an even firing interval between the twocylinders, but also generates some vibration caused by the two pistons rising and falling together. This vibration is particularly noticeable at idle. The XS 650s valves are operated by a single overhead camshaft (SOHC) whereas almost all contemporaries in its class have pushrod valvegear[citation needed].The 360 degrees crankshaft uses three roller bearings and a ball bearing. The camshaft uses four ball bearings, and rolling bearings are used throughout the rest of the engine. Connecting rods turn on needle bearings. Since the engine is SOHC, there are no pushrods to operate the valves. The camshaft gets its drive from a single-row chain running from the center of the crankshaft. Chain tension is maintained by a spring-loaded guide, which also takes up unnecessary slack. The intake valve opens 47 degrees BTC, closes 67 degrees ATC, yielding intake duration of 294 degrees, exhaust duration on 281 degrees, and an overlap of 88 degrees. Because the flywheel is lighter than British contemporaries, the engine tends to pick up revs more rapidly when the throttle is opened quickly.During the later developments of the engine compression ratios were lowered, then raised. Pistons were lightened 20 percent along with connecting rods to reduce the reciprocating mass inside the engine. Aluminum pistons are slightly domed with valve pockets. Pistons have three rings installed, two compression and one oil control ring.Horizontal split of the crankcases offers the advantages of oil tightness through the elimination of vertical joints and one-step access to both the lower end and the gearbox. Oil pressure is provided by the trochoidal pump, driven by a steel spur gear off the crankshaft. The main bearings, crank pins, transmission main shaft, clutch bushing, shifter fork guide bar, and rocker arms are lubricated by pressurized oil, whereas the rest of the engine is lubricated by “oil splash.”[4][5]Carburetion[edit]Pre-1980 models use the twin 38 mm (1.5 in) constant velocity Mikuni carburetors that can be tuned by moving the needle clip position, or by replacing jets. In the carburetors the velocity of the fuel mixture through the venturi, regulated by the opening of the butterfly valves and engine speed, causes a pressure difference between the top and the bottom of the carburetor pistons. This pressure difference raises and lowers the carburetor slides, increasing or decreasing engine output accordingly.Post-1979 models use smaller 34 mm (1.3 in) Mikuni CV carbs with needles that seem to be listed in parts menus as being 'fixed' position,(in other words a needle that may only have one clip position). The pilot and main jets can be changed for different sizes. If the 34 mm (1.3 in) CV carb needles only have one fixed clip position.Ignition[edit]The models up to 1979 use points ignition. Two sets of points are located on the upper left of the cylinder head. On the right side cylinder head, an advance mechanism is located. An advance mechanism is used to retard the timing for easy starting and smooth idle. Post-1979 models use electronic ignition systems.1979 Yamaha XS650 Advance Mechanism1979 Yamaha XS650 Point IgnitionPerformance[edit]Cycle World tested the XS650 in March 1979.[6] It ran the standing-start quarter mile 13.86 seconds with a terminal speed of 96.05 mph (154.58 km/h). The motorcycle's average fuel economy was 51.4 miles per US gallon (4.58 L/100 km; 61.7 mpg-imp)[7]See also[edit]Yamaha XS750 Triple SpecialKawasaki KZ650Honda CB650References[edit]Jump up^ "Yamaha XS 650".
