Engine has Matching Belly Numbers. Motorcycle was Previously Partially Disassembled by Original Owner for Restoration, but that never progressed. This is my 48 flathead 45",its as original of a bike that i've come across in a long time, its all oem HD and has been sitting in a barn since '06. This bike starts easy, runs and drives, goes thru all the gears just fine and quiet,clutch feels great, lights all work, high beam low beam, brake light,dash lights, horn makes noise,has original exhaust,bars,grips, j-slot air cleaner with tag,M88 linkert carb which is not original to this year,has glass HD tailight lens which is cracked, original speedo with red pointer but face and numbers were hand painted for some reason, has deluxe seat and #6 high compression aluminum heads which were a 48 option, the front fender light does not work, the front tire is a Goodyear and rear is a Beck,both are old and cracked but hold air just fine,it seems to have been repainted years ago but in the same color red,has one bondo filled dent on rt front bottom of tank, paint is peeling and flaking, primary tin was chrome but painted black and is peeling, chrome looks pretty good underneath, in todays world lots of patina real deal classic. Engine cases have matching numbers and no repairs that i can see, i did find one repair where the generator strap mounts and looks like a very good job, all tins are HD and no aftermarket parts that i can find. I have original keys and clear title in my name. 500.00$ non refundable deposit via paypal, balance in cash or bank-check. Bike can be picked up at my shop in Pa.18360 or if you need shipping it will ship from NY 12550 and i will make sure its loaded correctly, setting up and cost is on your end,bike wont leave till funds clear.Thanks for looking and ask questions

For sale is a 1948 Harley Davidson Chopper Straight leg frame, raked and molded, very nice job 1948 Lower clean and clear vin, beautiful shape Shovel top end, very dependable and very strong. Some flaking of chrome on heads, minor paint chips High gloss paint in very nice shape with air brush eagle and flag emblem Foot clutch, jockey shift, S&S model B, sweep up pipes that sound fantastic Starts easy, runs great, lots of power and a great sounding chopper Brakes system all new, new battery, this bike is ready to jump on and go. HARLEY DAVIDSON 1948UL FLATHEAD SIDE VALVE CHOPPER/BOBBER. This is a very nice 1948UL that runs, cranks and shifts great. It has the correct 1947 & 1948 only side valve, Flathead Tanks. The motorcycle comes with a clear North Carolina Title. The front brake needs the cable installed. The carburetor is a Linkert M-344 and the Belly numbers are 48-1397. It has a 12 Volt Electric System and has a 21" Front Wheel. The lights work and the tanks look good inside. The primary is chain driven as stock and as you can see it is a foot clutch with a tank shift. It has the correct Bowleg Harley Davidson Frame but appears to be missing the neck lock. The Exhaust Pipes are NOS. The front end is a Wide Glide and looks to be apx 4" over. This would make someone a very good inexpensive rider.

A mirror-like coat of black paint serves as the foundation for era-correct scallops that are detailed with red pin striping. At the front of that pigment, the dark vibes start with an NOS Harley fender, which parades NOS Harley trim and an NOS Harley light in front of a correct fuel tank. Simple and classically shaped, that attractive tank, equipped with a factory dash, breaks perfectly in to an NOS buddy seat that's propped on NOS buddy springs. That saddle hangs over a second NOS Harley fender that centers an NOS tombstone taillight behind an NOS Harley bumper. That stiff suspension is great at ensuring the rider gets an authentic feel for the road. There's an NOS Harley electrical system that works well with an NOS Harley accessory carb choke. And everything rolls on NOS Harley rims, which twist NOS Beck tires around NOS hubs and NOS cadmium spokes. DRIVETRAIN After almost two decades of manufacture, Harley had tweaked their flathead engines into well-tuned running gear. That said; 1948 would be the last year of the Big Twin UL, as it and the brand's wildly popular 'Knucklehead' were replaced by an upgraded V-Twin that would eventually earn the nickname 'Panhead'. That means this bike's original, 74 cubic inch flathead was an interesting rarity even in its heyday. Naturally, that VIN-matched powerplant is outfitted with an array of NOS components, including aluminum motor heads and old school primary covers. Electricity still takes the shape of a 6-volt system, which is augmented with a vintage-look gel cell battery. And behind that zero-mile motor, a correct Harley 4-speed processes commands from an NOS Beck gearshift knob. In addition to great aesthetics, this incredible motorcycle provides an authentic riding experience that's sure to inspire memories for older bikers while creating plenty of adventure for young enthusiasts.
