I'm listing this machine for a good friend who's not very computer savvy... This amazing Ducati Mille BOTT racer has quite a history. Legendary Ducati tuner Reno Leoni built this machine for the late Jimmy Adamo to replace the Daspa-framed machine that he had been campaigning for many years. Using a rare, limited production endurance frame & swing arm, Tecnomagnesio wheels, a Double System air shock, Marzicchi M1Rs, and the team's seriously modified '86 Mille engine, the machine was tested by Adamo - but he elected to stay with the Daspa package. The machine was put aside, but when the Mille engine was replaced by a new motor for the Daspa-framed bike, Leoni put it back into this machine; which was then sold to Canadian racer Frank Marazek - who, with Tim Speigleberg as tuner, campaigned it for a few years in Canada and at Daytona in the AMA BOTT class. It was eventually restored by Canadian George Jonas - who sold it to the current owner. This machine was fast - posting better trap speeds than the Adamo bike at Daytona and frequently running at the front during most events. The current owner ran it at a Mosport track day in 2001 and we fired it up at another Mosport event in 2009 - where I had the opportunity to run it in the lower paddock. The sound was amazing the the torque incredible. It's in remarkable shape and could be put back into service as a racer or track day machine without too much effort (full valve service, carb rebuild, new tires). A modern rear shock would be a recommendation as well if the machine were to see track use. The bike was at the inaugural Ducstock event at Barber a few years ago where I had the opportunity to chat with Reno about it and verify its history. I've also had the opportunity to chat with Tim Speigleberg about his experience with the machine. Perhaps the most notable comment was the issues he experienced with the ultra high compression requiring enough cylinder head torque to distort the cylinders. Anyone planning to run the machine would be advised to send the liners to Millennium for resurfacing and take steps to reduce the compression. It's an amazing and unique machine - unlike any other Ducati bevel that was campaigned back in the day. Detailed high-resolution pics taken at Mosport in '09 are on my Flickr site. To view the full-sized images on Flickr, click on the icon on the lower right of any image page and you'll be able to download or view all sizes. The title is listed as "Clear". The bike does not have a title, but a bill of sale will be provided. Mileage is listed as "1", but we have no idea as to the actual mileage. The machine is located in Whitby, Ontario, Canada (just east of Toronto). I'm listing this machine for a good friend who's not very computer savvy... In 1953, the ‘four pipe’ 997 cc Ariel Square Four Mk II was released, with separate barrels and a re-designed cylinder head with four separate exhaust pipes. This 40 hp Square Four was capable of 100 mph, weighed 425 lbs and cost £336.16. The last of the line, the MKII represented the peak of development of the Square 4s offering top performance, increased reliability and improved ride quality. This one benefitted from a full frame-up restoration by Canadian Martin Jensen and was acquired by the current owner with only a few hundred miles logged after the restoration. Jensen rebuilt the engine & gearbox, generator and regulator. The machine starts on the 1st or 2nd kick and runs beautifully. Although 'purists' will note that Jensen took a few liberties with chrome on a couple of the components, this is an excellent, fine running example with lots of attention to detail. Jensen sold the bike to the current owner with a solo seat installed and the current owner ordered a dual saddle from Draganfly - shown in the pictures. The dual seat did not come with mounting brackets, and remains to be permanently installed. The bike was storage-prepped soon after acquisition and displayed in the current owner's collection since. Detailed hi-resolution pics are on my Flickr page. The machine is located in Whitby, Ontario, Canada (just east of Toronto). I’m listing this machine for a good friend who’s not very computer savvy.. If I was going to buy a Harley, this would be the bike. I think the early Sportster truly captures the essence of the 60's American hot-rod culture. It's a raw, primal machine with the only the bare necessities. Almost from the model's debut, riders wanted higher performance and meaner looks for the XL Sportsters. America's response to the British invasion, the '62 went down the 1/4 mile in 14.3 seconds - establishing the Sportster as the King of the Hill. First offered in 1958, legend insisted that the last two letters in the model name stood for "Competition Hot." Delivered as an off-road scrambler with bobbed rear fender and the peanut gas tank borrowed from the 125cc Hummer, the CH was a good 40 pounds lighter than the road model. All XLs got bigger valves and more horsepower that year, but the CH's power-to-weight ratio was superior. Overnight the scramblers sprouted lights, giving riders one of the hottest bikes on the street. By 1962 lights had become standard equipment, the headlamp with its now-iconic "eyebrow" mount. This remarkably well-preserved example came out of Willi Marewski's museum in Florida and has the Akront aluminum rims as well as the rare hi-mount exhaust. The current owner had originally planned to restore the machine, but it's been on display in his collection since its acquisition. 3,738 miles showing on the speedo - He hasn't fired the bike, but it kicks through with good compression and has been properly storage prep'd. Hi-resolution pics on my Flickr page. The machine is located in Whitby, Ontario, Canada (just east of Toronto). I'm listing this machine for a good friend who's not very computer savvy... A visually stunning machine with performance to back up the looks. When Dennis Stemp, Editor of Iron Works Magazine decided to build and document a project bike over the course of a number of issues of his earlier Iron Trader News magazine, he chose to enhance an XLCR with the dramatic performance of a factory XR1000 engine. Dennis went a step further by sending the heads off to noted HD tuner Gerry Branch for race-spec Stage II porting, Branch's tapered intakes for use with Mikuni 39.5 flat slides, Andrews #2 cams, Screaming Eagle Ignition module and coil, and VW oil filter. Extensive frame mods were required to shoe-horn this new engine into the CR chassis. Additional mods include an indent in the tank to clear the rear carb and the following:Lockhart oil coolerDunlopads in the front calipersProgressive front fork kitWorks Performance shocks Bandit clutchCR Shift plate Included in the documentation are Branch's build notes, original flow results and dyno pulls, wiring diagrams, an original IronTrader April 1993 featuring the machine and copies of the original build articles as published in Iron Trader News . The motor was originally built with 11.5:1 pistons and developed 92RWHP @ 6,800rpm, but Dennis had the motor redone with 9:1 pistons to make the machine more civilized and practical for street use. The IronWorks artcle is on my Flickr page and it's important to note that in the carburation issues mentioned in the article were subsequently addressed by Stemp. The machine is now much easier to start, the low speed transition improved and the bike will "idle all day". The current owner acquired the machine in '99 and soon after, a factory stainless exhaust system with Genco mufflers was swapped in to replace the original carbon-steel system. He put a few hundred exciting and enjoyable miles on the bike and pronounced it a "a very strong runner". The machine was subsequently prepped for storage and put on display in his collection in a climate-controlled environment. The speedo shows 3,558 miles, but this is not the actual mileage on the machine. It's estimated that Stemp may have logged around 700 miles on the machine after the project was completed - and the current owner then logged under 300 miles before retiring the machine to display in his collection. Detailed, hi-resolution pics and scans of the April '93 issue of IronWorks featuring this cool piece of history are on my Flickr page. The pictures taken of the bike on the lawn were taken not long after the machine was acquired - the ones taken on the driveway were shot this month. The machine is located in Whitby, Ontario, Canada (just east of Toronto).
