1974 BMW R Series RS, In 1974, BMW's 1st run on a race machine was the R90S. It has a 900cc high compression engine with twin 38mm Dellorto carbs with accelerator pumps along with a five-speed gearbox and a shaft final drive. Equipped with dual discs front brakes. Weighing in at 470 pounds, this bike was one of the most famous superbikes of its time, with a top speed of around 125 mph. Stock, it had about 67 bhp. Exhaust has been race tuned to maximize he Dellorto carbs. In its 3 years of production, 17,455 R90S models were sold. Today it is an extremely sought after collectors bike. This particular bike has been stored in a heated garage since 1984. It was purchased with 17k miles on and 23,000 miles have been put on it by the current owner. The odometer reads 32k miles, but in reality it has about 40k miles in total. This particular R90S comes equipped with an oil gauge in the S fairing as it was the original track setup. It also has Luftmeister front Fork Brace, rear pegs set up, extra seat cowl w/ the R90s insignia, and Koni shocks with triple rate springs. It also includes original Krauser hard bags. Only thing missing is the right side battery cover, which would be a dealer item. One was replaced and both were repainted before the right side went missing. It has a rebuilt starter. Ran it two years ago and it ran great. Hasn't been started since so may need new battery (engine turned over easily from kickstart this morning. tank was drained of gas for storage). small scratch on front fender leather seat shows some wear/tear.
