1971 Norton Commando 750 Roadster, matching numbers on motor, frame and transmission. I found this Norton in the Fall of 2012. The original owner put it inside a truck body on his property 30 years ago. He said it was running but missing the speedometer and had dreams of riding it again one day. I convinced him that I could make it a classic ride and we made a deal weeks later. I picked it up and had it running in one hour. It shifted in all gears and the motor was running on one carb but it ran. I knew then I had a solid bike for restoration. I started on the Norton project right away and in the Summer of 2013 drove it back to his farm to show it off. He wasn't there; he had passed away months earlier. I restored this Norton using as many of the original parts as I could. I completely disassembled the bike and polished, painted and overhauled whatever I could. Some items just had to be replaced and I used genuine Norton parts purchased from suppliers. The bike still has the original Amals carbs, the frame is in perfect condition, the transmission shifts smoothly, the motor starts easily and has great compression. It idles nice and is strong and responsive in any gear. The rims were bead blasted, primed and painted using zinc primer and enamel paint with hardener. The spokes are strong and tight, no wobble. This classic Norton is a nice smooth ride with the Isolastic motor mounts; it draws attention everywhere I go. I put 500 miles on it in 2013 and sorted out all the running issues. You can start and drive this bike anywhere with confidence, reliability and unbelievable performance.
