The compact SOHC (single overhead camshaft) engine that delivers explosive but controllable power shares 95% of the parts with the bike of Ryan Dungey winning the AMA Supercross championship 2015. AIRBOX The new airbox design offers maximum protection of the air filter against soiling, while ensuring maximum airflow in conjunction with lighter intake snorkel that is made of a new material to reduce the deformation due to air intake pulse for improved performance. The new Twin Air filter is easier and safer to mount and can be changed without tools in seconds, a standard and original KTM feature. BATTERY AND WIRING HARNESS As in the past, all new XC-F engines are fitted with the proven electric starter - a unique KTM feature and a major benefit at all levels of motocross racing. For MY 2017 the XC-F range fits a super compact and lightweight lithium-ion starter battery, providing safe starting of the engine while reducing the weight significantly. SEAT Ergonomically perfect, the new seat has a higher foam volume, which offers great comfort and durability, while weighing the same as the previous model. BRAKES High-tech Brembo brakes have always been standard equipment on KTM off-road bikes, and combined with the lightweight Galfer Wave discs, they are the ultimate solution in braking technology. FRAME The new frame design provides approximately 20 % higher torsional rigidity and 30 % less longitudinal stiffness, with newly designed engine stays for less vibration. This increased flexibility results in better absorption of the energy created from the front and rear wheel loads supporting the suspension for more comfort and less rider fatigue. A 0.4° steeper steering angle and a 10 mm shorter wheel base contribute to better handling, and last but not least it´s lighter than the previous model. GRAPHICS New modern in-mold graphics highlight the Ready to Race character of the cutting-edge 2017 XC-F range of bikes. HANDLEBAR The new generation XC-F models are equipped with a new tapered handlebar made of high-strength aluminum by NEKEN, which is fixed in a new rubber damped handlebar clamp allowing the handlebar to be mounted in two different positions. All 4-Stroke models feature a new throttle assembly with model-specific throttle cams for different opening characteristics and new ODI grips featuring lock-on fixing clamp on the left-hand side. In 2016 the ISDE (International Six Days Enduro) will be held in Navarra, Spain and the KTM model line-up has been suitably equipped to handle anything the dusty and rocky terrain can throw at it. Arriba! Features may include: FRONT SUSPENSION The all-new WP XPlor 48 upside-down fork is a split fork developed by WP in close collaboration with KTM. It is fitted with a spring on both sides but features separated functions for each fork leg: compression damping is fitted on the left side, while rebound is on the right. So the forks can easily be adjusted for compression and rebound with the twist of a dial on the top of the forks. In addition, a longer and sealed hydro-stop guarantees better resistance to bottoming-out. Due to high-quality materials and a state-of-the-art production process, the new XPlor 48 fork - with approx. 300mm of travel - has outstanding response and damping characteristics and is about a half of a pound lighter than its predecessor. And to make life even easier, separate systems for cold starts and idle adjustment await you. Push the throttle back when the engine s alive and well, and the cold start mode disengages. As a proud owner of a SIX DAYS 4-stroke model you can select a stronger power curve and activate the unique traction control system for maximized grip. A bonus mapping via the map select switch on the handlebar, brings even more ferocity to the game. FRAME The high-tech, lightweight chrome-moly steel frame is engineered for excellent handling, precise cornering and supreme stability. You can also count on high torsional rigidity and low longitudinal stiffness for better absorption of the energy created by the front and rear suspension sucking up jumps and bumps. In short: more comfort and less rider fatigue. Laterally attached, lightweight engine head stays contribute to a reduced vibration level. Two threaded inserts in the lower cradle tubes allow for an optional skid plate. The engineers were able to pull off all that, while making the frame two pounds lighter than that of the lightest competitor on the market.
