Putting our money where our mouth is, we gave the 250 SX engine an all new architecture with a new shaft arrangement for better mass centralization, a new cylinder with a twin-valve controlled power valve, a new counter balancer for less engine vibrations, a 5-speed transmission and a hydraulically operated DDS clutch. CYLINDER The newly developed cylinder of the 250 SX - with a bore of 66.4mm - has all-new ports and is fitted with an overhauled power valve system. This system features a sophisticated mechanism for the lateral support exhaust ports, providing smooth and controllable power on tap. Furthermore, it s possible to change the bike s mood in seconds thanks to two supplied powervalve springs. Limitless settings for different tracks and preferences are up for grabs. Throw everything you have at it; new water jackets in the cylinder and head will take care of excess heat and reworked lateral cylinder head brackets allow a more efficient fixation of the engine to the frame via lightweight head stays. Yes, this is a serious piece of kit. ENGINE CASES These all-new die-cast engine cases feature a 8mm higher clutch shaft and a 27mm higher crankshaft, resulting in better mass centralization. But that s no surprise. The successful combination of a powerful and torquey engine in a lightweight and agile ch***is is bound to place the 250 SX-F onto podium after podium. Features may include: 98.2 KG The main target for the KTM engineers when developing the SX models was a m***ive weight reduction compared to the previous generation. The result: the current SX-F models are the slimmest, lightest bikes on the track. Even though the 4-strokes are equipped with an electric starter as a standard feature, while the competition still needs to be kick started, the SX-F line weigh in pounds less. Rather than kicking to start - you can focus on kicking ***. AIRBOX The airbox design offers maximum protection of the air filter while ensuring maximum airflow. The large twin-air filter is mounted in a stiff cage, which at the same time holds the system in place. This design is so simple you could still pop a fresh one in with a face full of mud. Without tools. In seconds. FRAME The high-tech, lightweight chrome-moly steel frame is engineered for excellent handling, precise cornering and supreme stability. You can also count on high torsional rigidity and low longitudinal stiffness for better absorption of the energy created by the front and rear suspension sucking up jumps and bumps. In short: more comfort and less rider fatigue. Laterally attached, lightweight engine head stays contribute to a reduced vibration level. Two threaded inserts in the lower cradle tubes allow for an optional skid plate. The engineers were able to pull off all that, while making the frame two pounds lighter than that of the lightest competitor on the market. In addition, the frame is easier to maintain, easier to work on and supplies more space for the tank and other components. The bike also features an extra-light aluminum subframe, which weighs in at less than 2 pounds. FOOTPEGS Sophisticated ´No Dirt´ footpegs prevent clogging of the footpeg pivot, even when digging in deep ruts. Looking for a higher riding position? Features May Include: ENGINE The new 250 SX-F engine is based on the similar overall design of its predecessor, with some major refinements to make this MX2 power plant more compact and lighter, with the production of improved torque and power across the entire rpm range. New valve springs and retainers for the four lightweight titanium valves (intake 32.5 mm, exhaust 26.5 mm) and high-flow ports create a maximized flow rate for an optimal power band and maximum performance, which concludes at an engine speed sound barrier of 14,000 rpm. CYLINDER & PISTON In the reworked and shorter cylinder that has a bore of 78 mm, is a weight-reduced, forged bridged box-type piston made by CP. It features a unique piston ground shape adapted to the new combustion chamber and stands out with its extra rigid structure, combined with a low weight. The compression ratio is at 14.4:1. All over the world, in both professional and amateur classes, the 2014 motorsport season was very successful for the 250 SX-F - and the 2015 season promises to be no different. In MY 2015, the feisty 4-stroke hits the scene with further improvements to engine and chassis a performance package that will continue to dominate the MX2 class. Features May Include: Bodywork KTM engineers have focussed on designing the bodywork ergonomically and functionally in such a way that the whole motorcycle is in perfect harmony with the rider down to the very last detail. The front fender is a perfect example of how moulded plastic components can gain maximum stability with a well thought out structure and well-conceived attachment. Seat The ergonomically perfectly designed seat is equipped with a durable foam core, ensuring both adequate comfort and high stability. Handlebar All SX models are equipped with the extremely sturdy, tapered Renthal Fatbar 827 handlebar that features an offset specially designed to meet the demands of motocross. In accordance with the proven KTM standard, the handlebar can be fixed in a choice of four positions. For MY 2015, it is equipped with softer two-component grips to spare the rider's hands. Wheels The wheels fitted for MY 2015 feature black coated, high-end Excel rims with lightweight, CNC-machined hubs and spokes with lightweight aluminium nipples, allowing highest levels of stability to be achieved, while keeping weight to a minimum.
