2015 Kawasaki Z1000 ABS, Leave a Lasting Impression - When Kawasaki engineers penciled out the all-new 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 ABS, they approached it with the goal of building the most radical Supernaked bike on the market. The bike would need to be intense, powerful and give off a vibe that says, “approach with caution”— in Japan that intimidating, almost palpable presence is called Sugomi. Emphasis on immediate rider response, and sharp handling were the focus for the new bike. To achieve these goals suspension saw upgrades in the form of a Separate Function Fork-Big Piston (SFF-BP) and new damping settings and lever ratios for the Horizontal Back-link rear suspension, and a new tuning package for the 1,043cc Inline four-cylinder engine makes throttle response and the sounds you hear incredibly invigorating. Mass centralization is a key Z1000 design feature. Kawasaki’s unique Horizontal Back-link rear suspension, an under-engine pre-chamber for the exhaust, and downdraft throttle bodies all allow mass to be positioned close to the center of gravity for light, nimble handling. This physical concentration of parts is visually reinforced by the tight-fitting new bodywork, compact new LED headlamp and minimalist rear seat section. The lean, muscular styling hints at the more direct, sporty street performance of the Z1000.
