The attractive and well-equipped Nomad returns to the line-up in 2006 in both two-tone dress and in “basic black” and brings with it that same promise of the beckoning open road.Its 95ci V-twin engine not only smoothes out backroads and highways, but produces enough torque to gain a new appreciation for a well-outfitted cruiser.The engine features a single overhead cam and four valves per cylinder. Hydraulic valve lash adjusters automatically maintain valve clearance for smooth engine performance, reduced noise and reduced maintenance, while automatic cam chain tensioners keep cam timing accurate with virtually no maintenance.The digital fuel injection system feeds each cylinder the appropriate fuel mixture through dual 36mm throttle bodies. A separate intake tract for each throttle body provides smooth engine operation, and the top of each injector contains four small nozzles, with two aimed at each intake valve.A 16-bit electronic engine control unit (ECU) features programming tailored specifically for the Nomad’s fuel injection system. Using readings from various sensors, it monitors engine coolant temperature, intake air temperature, atmospheric pressure, intake air pressure and throttle position to adjust the amount of fuel injected.Attention to these engineering details provides the 1600 Nomad with the best balance of power and performance, so the rider has an abundance of torque for any riding condition.Large engine mounts and a gear-driven engine counter balancer reduce handlebar and floorboard vibration, yet these features do not interfere with the engine’s distinctive V-twin rumble or power-pulse feeling from its single-pin crankshaft.The 1600 Nomad’s steering geometry is designed so that the motorcycle feels more neutral at low speeds, as when maneuvering in parking lots.The 1600 Nomad is endowed with chrome and comfort features: Chrome engine guards are standard and a thick passenger seat includes a backrest and aluminum grab bars. Floorboards for the passenger combine to make long-distance rides more comfortable and pleasurable.Self-canceling turn signals, 5.3-gallon fuel tank, topped by an elegant electronic speedometer and LED odometer/tripmeter display let Nomad owners fully enjoy their ride. Streamlined hard saddlebags provide generous storage for those hard-to-resist overnight rides. Plus, standard features such as an adjustable windshield, plush air-assisted rear suspension and adjustable levers tailor the Nomad to its rider.

New pistons and modified cams improve performance for low rpm starts and mid-range bursts for those all-too-rare passing lanes. And since looking good is as important as performance, Kawasaki gave the new 1600 Mean Streak some extra grooming, including new valve covers and reshaped cooling fins.To give the 1600 Mean Streak more power, piston stroke has been increased by 5mm, boosting displacement from 1,470 to 1,552cc. Cam angle, lift and valve timing are also changed to improve low- and mid-rpm performance.

This is an awesome cruiser! Looks gorgeous, amazing power and so much fun to ride!! Sounds awesome too! People compliment me all the time. This bike currently has 14K miles. Rides perfectly well, nothing needs to be done, just start her up and ride! I really don't want to sell this bike, but I am buying an adventure bike and I don't have enough room in my garage :(. This is a 2007, but it looks pretty much brand new! 13600 miles, Cobra exhaust, Cobra fuel tuner, K&N air filter, Cobra light bar, Kuryakyn ISO grips, Phat 2 risers and have original risers. Both tires under 1,000 miles, clean title. Not perfect but in good shape, no issues, selling because I bought a new bike. Shipping is buyer responsibly but we can talk about drop off near Orange County NY. For sale is my 2007 Special Edition Kawasaki Mean Streak. Features include a 1600cc engine, custom exhaust, sport windshield, smoke directional lenses, red/blue LED strobes as an auxiliary brake light under the license plate, self adjusting valves, inverted forks, auto-cancelling directionals, recently changed fork seals, newer Metzeler tires, recent spark plugs, oil & filter and final drive fluid change. This is the ONLY year with flames on the tank and fenders. Everyone either thinks it's custom or a Harley. Red wheels and frame accent the flat black paint. This bike is a blast to ride and it shows in the approximately 41,000 miles she has. Oil and filter changes have been done regularly at 3,000 miles with Kawasaki oil and filter. The roar of the custom exhaust sends deer running away and can be heard for miles. "Loud Pipes Save Lives". This baby has never been down and has been very well taken care of. It is truly a low-maintenance cycle and only requires wiping down. Never apply wax to the tank or fenders because it will take away the matte finish of the paint. Need to sell this to support a new business venture, otherwise I'd keep it forever. Price is $4,500 or best REASONABLE offer. Check the values on KBB and NADA and you'll see this bike is very reasonably priced. Google the online reviews from 2007 and they'll all say this is a Vulcan with a Mean Streak, and numerous rants and raves.

This is the only year Kawasaki made this Special Edition Mean Streak and the only year with the flames on the tank and fenders. This is one mean cycle with lots of power and attitude with its roaring custom exhaust. People either think this bike is either custom or an H-D. Extras include smoke directional lenses, newer Metzeler tires (front and back), sport windshield, custom exhaust pipes (they scare the deer away), and auxiliary strobe brake lights (red and blue) (not shown). While there are just over 41,000 miles it has had regular 3,000 mile oil and final drive fluid changes, newer spark plugs. Read the specs and you will see it has dual front disc brakes, inverted forks, self-adjusting valves and more. Garage kept. VERY minor paint flaws. Never down. Don't waste your time making lowball offers. No REASONABLE offer refused. This bike is a blast to ride and needs nothing but a new owner to love her. Check out the original reviews from 2007 and you'll agree this is a Vulcan with a Mean Streak!
