The bike is equipped with a strong 1700cc V-Twin, long-stroke, liquid cooled, SOHC, 8-valve 1,700 cm3 engine which cranks out 73 hp at 5,000 rpm and 136 Nm of torque at 2,750 rpm.To keep the engine's performances to a high level, Kawasaki uses its first fully electronic throttle actuation system which enables the ECU to control the volume of both the fuel (via fuel injectors) and the air (via throttle valves) delivered to the engine. The engine is paired with a six speed transmission.
