It was first released in the US in 2000 as a limited edition. The last year of production for the 800cc Drifter model was 2006. To my knowledge Kawasaki has never released actual production numbers. However based on the VIN number series, it is speculated that ONLY 1,500 Drifters were produced and distributed world wide for each year of production. If this speculation is true during the 7 years they were produced, there were only 10,500, of these motorcycles ever built and distributed around the world. Not all were shipped to the US. Now 9 years after the last one was built they have become more collectible than ever.
