Cherokee Cycles was chosen to compete in the Indian Build a Scout Challenge. We chose to model the famous WW II B-17 bomber, MISS BEHAVIN’, as the inspirational theme for our entry. The bomber flew with the 8th Air Force, out of England in 1944, and completed 26 missions. Additionally, the Cherokee team decided that MISS BEHAVIN’ should become a TRIKE and has proudly partnered with one of America’s top tier trike conversion manufacturers, Motor Trike, in Troup, TX for a one-off design and build. Cherokee also will partner with White Wall Choppers in Summerville, S.C. for the CNC work on floorboards, front wheel and other parts; BKP Art in Easley, S.C. for custom paint and graphics; and Heather’s Leathers of Clover, S.C. to construct a floating leather seat. Here's a little history:Continuing through with discussions produced Cherokee Cycle's decision to use a World War II era bomber as the basis for its build as Indian Scouts were used in World War II by the US Army. Once the team saw Miss Behavin' they immediately knew this was the inspiration for a winner in keeping with "Build a Legend." The aircraft known as Miss Behavin' was a Boeing B-17G heavy bomber. It carried a crew of 10 and was delivered to the US Army Air Corps on December 27, 1943 in Denver, CO. It was assigned to the 94th Bombardment Wing (Heavy) and operationally flew with the 401st Bombardment Group out of Deenethorpe, England. The crew christened their ship Miss Behavin' and had her famous likeness painted on the nose.Its first mission was July 16, 1944. Miss Behavin' flew 26 consecutive missions over Nazi Germany. Its last mission was on September 28, 1944 when it sustained battle damage over Madgeburg, Germany which caused a forced landing in Belgium.Cherokee Cycles is honored to create and enter Project Miss Behavin' in recognition of the accomplishments of this historic B-17 and its crew.
