2000 Indian Chief. The Chief Marketing Officer for Indian Motorcycles commissioned NASA logo designer Bill Helin in Vancouver to paint his original "Mystery Chief" painting over one of their brand new 2000 Chief's. The bike was shipped to Vancouver, completely disassembled and the Mystery Chief painting was custom painted on every part of the bike. After 4 months, the bike was shipped back to Gilroy, California (Indian HQ),where it then went on a national marketing and promotional tour of every Indian dealership in the US (it was never for sale and was never driven). One year later, after completing its promotional tour, the Mystery Chief Indian motorcycle landed in Los Angeles and was put up for sale at Indian's Santa Monica dealership. I bought the bike for $34,000 USD in 2001. I drove it for three years until my first child was born, after that it was put in storage where it has remained since 2004. The bike has 2900 miles on it and has not been driven since 2004. Serious inquiries only- NO test rides, for sale at $18,000.00. The bike was formally appraised in 2010 for $45,000.
