1997 Honda Shadow VLX DELUXE, The PERFECT beginner's bike! It's well balanced, and has a low center of gravity. This bike is the lightest in weight, compared to other popular beginner bikes, which usually makes beginners feel more confident. This bike is also very forgiving of those little mistakes that can get you into a lot of trouble. The best part is that this bike is foolproof. It starts every time, the first time. It doesn't leak oil. I've never had any problems with this bike -- very reliable for commuting, long road trips, and Sunday poker runs! I'm the second owner, and the bike has never been down. 1st owner got pregnant and didn't want to ride. I bought it I think around 2001-2002? It has always been well maintained. However, I will tell you that, this bike needs 2 new tires -- that's why I priced it lower than the competition -- to compensate for having to get new tires. Other than that, it needs nothing. She's black, with a yellow teardrop shape and Honda graphic on the gas tank. I have 4" pullback risers on her, because I'm a little older and needed to sit up straighter when riding. Nice saddle bags with eagle emblem. Tool bag on front. I have the sissy bar, and it comes with the bike -- it's real easy to take off, or put on, depending on your taste. Lots of chrome (standard for the DLX model, which this one is). Lace wheels. Also, this bike is going to be louder than you'd expect (people often mistake it for a Sportster because of the sound). Lady's husband, owner before me, "personalized" the pipes a bit -- that's what originally sold me on this particular bike -- I like to be heard, in case people in cars don't see me. Also, I can personally verify that this bike can do well over the 99.4 MPH listed by Honda! Well, that's her story. I have no complaints about her. Other than routine maintenance, I've never had to do much to this bike. Comes with Service Manual, Owner's Manual, and Riding Tips & Practice Guide. She's solid and reliable.
