1974 Honda MR50 Elsinore A little History on the Honda MR50 Elsinore; It is an off road mini cycle made by Honda. It was manufactured in Japan by Honda and imported first to Australia and the United States in 1974 and continued to be available in the USA, Canada and Australia until production was discontinued in 1975. It was patterned after the CR125 and CR250 Elsinores. Like its big brothers it has spoke wheels, knobby tires, and plastic fenders. The engine was a 49 cc (3.0 cu in), air-cooled, two-stroke with 3 speed manual clutch transmission. Starting is a primary kick on the right side of the bike. The bike used conventional controls just like larger models. The shift pattern is neutral at the bottom and 3 up. Lubrication; premix at 25:1. The exhaust has a spark arrestor. This bike's mechanicals have been restored; with the engine and transmission rebuilt, new clutch, frame sandblasted and powder coated. Wheels have been professionally trued. It runs and shifts as it should. The fuel tank paint is in great original condition. This is a real beauty. You will not be disappointed with your purchase. Selling my 2011 CBR250R with only 5,500 miles!Bike is in Great condition. Tires have good tread, chain good, sprocket good, all fluids changed. Next service not needed for few thousand miles.It's not as fast as the bigger bikes of course. If your starting out riding this is a perfect choice for you, or are looking for something a little slower then your current or last bike, this one is great. Low seat height, the light weight, and quick steering make it a fun ride for around town and the commute to work. It'll do 70-75mph no problem on the expressway, and get around 70-80MPG depending how you drive! I am 6' and have no issues fitting on the bike. The upright riding position is comfortable and I have plenty of leg room.Unlike the Ninja250, the CBR250R is fuel injected, so you never have to worry about it not starting or running poorly every other year because it needs a carb cleaning after a cold wintery season in the garage.I installed a HotBodies rear fender eliminator kit, also installed front flush mount turn signals. I installed a HotBodies MGP Growler Exhaust, is it a shorty pipe. I am in no rush to sell or trade my bike, I plan to put work into every other two weeks this riding season, a lot can be done, this bike is screaming for some customization.
