It's arrival came at a time when Kawasaki's Voyager, Suzuki's Cavalcade and the Yamaha Venture Royale had started to challenge the GL1200 Goldwing. Unfortunately, these challengers, while being great machines in their own way, concentrated on adding more in the way of luxuries to their machines and had they attended to the real needs of a touring bike, such as reducing weight and improving handling, there is no doubt that they would have been a real threat to the Honda flagship. Nonetheless, by 1987 the touring market was decidedly crowded and Honda had been working on the next Goldwing for a few years. The result of their efforts was an astounding machine that looked, handled and felt light years ahead of any touring motorcycle to date, period.Younger riders looking at the GL1500 twelve years later cannot really appreciate it's impact when it arrived. This monster had a silky smooth six-cylinder engine that pulled like a train, a reverse gear and it's appea

This exceptionally well cared for three wheeler will satisfy even the pickiest shopper. This is a new build with only about 1300 miles since being converted. The required timing belt replacement was done at the same time. Notice the color matched lowers and the raked triple tree was added for easy steering. Low mounted driving lights and the trunk spoiler with integrated brake light are a couple more of the many added value niceties this premium trike has to offer. Unquestionably a quality build that's ready to travel. How about you? Roadsmith Trike Conversion Features:Independent Rear SuspensionThe smooth ride of the HT1500 is primarily due to our innovative suspension system that offers a ride like no other trike. The Trike Shop was the first to offer Independent Suspension for trike conversions over 20 years ago. The cynics said it would never work. They’re eating those words today. Talk to anyone who has actually ridden an Independent Rear Suspension and a solid axle system trike for a period of time and ask them which one rode better. You can’t deny Independent Rear Suspension is the way manufacturers of cars, SUV’s and ATV’s are going. Trikes are no different. These trikes are built with a purpose- “Touring”. On the HT1500, the suspension is fully adjustable right from the dash controls with the optional air ride shocks, the same way the GL1500 was originally designed. This air ride system works great for adjusting the right height and sensitivity depending on the way the trike is loaded. The multi-point mount of the chassis to the frame actually strengthens the bike's frame as well as dissipates the added stress of a trike. We attach it to the existing mounting points on the frame. On the HT1500, we use the crash bar mounts, the top shock mounts and the swing-arm attachment point. A feature of the trailing arm type independent suspension is the fact that there are very few moving parts. There are literally only two pivot points on each trailing arm and they are encased within urethane bushings. This eliminates any adjustments or maintenance requirements. There are more complicated way’s to design a
