This is a 92 Harley Softail Custom that I stripped down to the bare frame and completely rebuilt. The build itself took about a year and half and features many one-off handmade parts. It also features many improvements to the parts of a Harley that I feel lack. When I set out to rebuild this bike I wanted to build what I thought was the best version of a 92 Softail Custom that I could build and at the same time I wanted it to stick out from the rest of the pack. I believed I have achieved that. Wherever I go with this bike it always gets loads of attention and if you park it next to other "Factory" Harleys you will never lose it in the crowd. I have been riding it around since I built it to shake it down and put some miles on it to make sure everything works as it should. So far I have put 1500 miles on it since the rebuild. It is a blast to ride especially on the windy roads out here. It still puts a gigantic smile on my face every time I take it out. Here's how it all breaks down:Engine: The stock 80" engine was disassembled down to the cases. The cylinders were bored .030" over and Wiseco pistons were fitted making it now about 83". All the machining and piston ring gapping was done by NRHS Performance in Colorado. The engine was assembled using Cometic Gaskets. It's running an S&S Super E with S&S Stealth Air Cleaner and a Dynatek Ignition with Accel wires and NGK spark plugs. The exhaust is a Roland Sands Design (RSD) Slant Stainless Steel exhaust that is coated in black. Drivetrain: As far as the drivetrain goes it's a stock Harley Davidson 5 speed with a BDL Clutch and I added an automatic primary chain tensioner. Also converted the final drive from belt to chain using PBI Sprockets and a Diamond 530 chain. I also built my own shift linkages using PTFE rod ends so it picks up all the slack and you get a more positive shift. Bodywork and Sheet Metal: The fuel tanks are the stock split tanks. The oil tank is an aftermarket tank that fits the frame much better than the stock one did. The rear fender is handmade from aluminum as well as all of the supports and brackets that attach it to the bike. It also is attached to the swing arm and not to the frame so that it rides with the rear tire. The paint is called Speed Blue and was laid down to give it a frosted, semi gloss look. All of the black is semi gloss powder coat except for the aluminum rear fender supports and brackets which are anodized black.Suspension and Running Gear: The front forks feature Progressive Suspension springs and rear shocks have adjustable preload and height. The front wheel is an Excel rim with a newer Harley Davidson hub off an '06 Softail so that it runs a bigger 1" front axle instead of a 3/4". The rear wheel is the stock Aluminum solid wheel that came on the bike. It is running Metzeler ME880 tires front and back. I also went to a 140mm rear tire instead of the stock 130mm. All the bearings throughout the whole bike have been replaced with All Balls bearings.Brakes: When it came to the brakes I really liked the way Brembo brakes performed so I sourced a 4 piston front caliper for the front and 2 piston caliper for the rear similar to what you would find on a Ducati. I then found floating rotors through QTMI Brembo in Anaheim. They measure 11.5" front and back. EBC Brake pads were used in the calipers. I can honestly say that new Harleys don't even brake as good and as confident as this one does. Electrical: All the electrical wiring on the bike was replaced and simplified. The witches were relocated to the dash and the stock speedo was replaced by a GPS unit with custom face by Speedhut. Weatherpak connectors were used for most of the connectors so that you can easily disconnect them and they are very well protected from the elements.I could seriously write about this bike for pages and pages but I think that's pretty much the short and sweet version of it. I have a folder full of receipts for this bike as well as numerous pictures and videos of the build process. If you'd like to know more about the bike, let me know and I'd be glad to provide you any information or answer any questions you might have. I personally did the build so there is no better person to answer questions about this bike. Many more pictures of this bike are available if you go to my website http://www.jawindustries.com. There are links there to my social media pages where I documented a lot of the build process. For a full set of pictures go to this link: http://jaws1303.tumblr.com/post/125526966541/1992-harley-davidson-softail-custom-by-jawThe bike has a clean CA title and is titled as a 1992 Harley Davidson Softail Custom Delivery of the bike can be arranged within 500 miles of the San Diego, Ca. area.
