The Harley-Davidson MT500 is a bit of an unusual motorcycle. It's thought that just 500 were ever made, and it's not known how many have survived in original condition.The MT500 is powered by a 500cc Rotax single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with 4 valves, 5 gears, a left side kickstart and electric start. It's a mechanically simple motorcycle designed explicitly for military use - though it's broad adoption never took place due to many militaries only wanting diesel-powered vehicles for matters of logistical simplicity.The basic design started in Italy, before finding its way to Britain, being put into production with the Armstrong-CCM company in 1984. The model saw limited military use in Britain, Jordan, and Canada until it was phased out in 2000.Harley-Davidson isn't a stranger to badge-engineering motorcycles, and if you look back over the long arc of motorcycle history there are very few established marques that haven't at least dabbled with rebranding bikes. The reason Harley bought the MT500 stateside was the hope of acquiring a military contract with the richest armed forces on earth. Sadly it never came to be, largely because of the aforementioned diesel-only guidelines.The majority of the Harley-Davidson MT500s that were built, were built to the same specifications. There's a waterproof rifle case on the rear right side for an M16 or similar, and the case is designed in such a way that it can take both scoped and unscoped weapons.All-original MT500s only rarely come up for sale, possibly because collectors are sitting on them in anticipation of a value increase as they edge closer to vintage territory.

1999 Harley-Davidson Mt500 , 1999 Harley Davidson MT500 with ELECTRIC START. this bike is one of only 100 ever manufactured by Harley Davidson. About 975 miles Less the 100 miles ago the oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter where are replaced with new OEM parts . Oil was replaced with 20w-50 motorcycle AMSOIL . Brake system was flushed about 4-5 cycles with new AMSOIL dot4 brake fluid. Chain maintained with AMSOIL Chainlube I have all the tools shown in the picture and H-D mt500 manual still is excellent condition. New OEM Extra oil and air filter come with the bike A new OEM extra seat cover comes with the bike, there is a pin hole in the seat cover that's not noticeable unless it's pointed out. HISTORY Do not compare the rare U.S. MT500s with non U.S. models. Only 1999 & 2000s are U.S In England, Armstrong Motorcycles produced; MTs from 1983 to 1992. The MT350s all went to the British Army and the few MT500s went to Jordan and the Canadian Militarys. In 1993 Harley-Davidson bought the Armstrong Motorcycles for the right to use the Rotax engines in some of their dirt track racers. In 1995 Harley-Davidson produced about 20 U.S. MT500s for the U.S. market. (about 3500 from 95 to 2000 although most were not U.S. bikes) Some were made for the U.S. Military. One was kept by Harley- Davidson and now displayed at the Harley-Davidson Museum. They made 278 U.S. MT500s in 1999s and less U.S. MT500s in 2000. Thus making the U.S. MT500s one of the rarest and lowest production motorcycles ever made by Harley-Davidson in this Country for the past 100 years. The U.S. Military had 15 new ones left that they did not use for testing. On Friday July 21, 2000 the Military put an ad in the Stars & Stripes newspaper for these remaining bikes. They had such a large response they had to have a raffle for the bikes. Reliable sources have only found about 50, 1999s and about 25, 2000s. Several non-U.S. bikes and a very very few 1995 to 97 U.S. bikes. Most of these bikes are in dealerships museums, or in a private collector museum. Parts are readily available from ForceMotorcycles or KLMotorsport of Great Britten. ( They purchased the entire MT parts inventory from Harley-Davidson. I have not had any mechanical issues with this motorcycle nor do I foresee any mechanical $10,995.00

1999 Harley-Davidson Mt500 , The Harley-Davidson MT 500 is one of the rarest motorcycles that harley ever produced. The bike was originally produced by Armstrong-CCM for the English, Canadian, and Jordanian armies in the 1980s. Harley bought the rights to produce it in 1999 and made bikes for the american market. It features a rifle case mounted on the right rear, and two ammo/luggage cases on either side of the fork. It also has a famous rotax single cylinder engine which produces 32 horsepower.This bike was hand picked and part of a personal collection of many special bikes.It is a true collector's item and has only 124 miles on the odometer.
