Hello :) I have a 2004 Ducati Multistrada 1000DS for sale. Brembo Brakes. 11,700+ miles (and going up, as it is being ridden). Recent valve adjustment. Runs and rides great, but has some paint "orange peel". Has been mostly repainted. Ducati Performance gel seat. Ducati Performance mirror/turn signals (look nice). I have only owned this bike for a short time, put about 200 miles on it. It has been a great, fun bike to ride. It feels tight and solid to ride. It has some (mostly cosmetic) issues, and the price reflects that. I am open to offers, and prefer to sell it in-person, but shipping is an option (see below). I was told by the previous owner that the bike had just recently had a full service, including belts and valve adjustment, new chain and sprocket. I do not know what mechanic would have done that service, so cannot verify that, but have no reason to doubt the previous owner. I have seen no smoke upon startup or while riding. I have noticed it use no oil consumption. New battery last fall. Tires are Pirelli Corsa IIIs in decent condition. I could measure tread depth but there are no grooves in the middle of the tire to accurately measure. The front is pretty decent all around, and the rear is beginning to show a flat strip worn down the middle, as they do... More detailed description of issues: Most of the bike has been repainted. The paint looks as though it is basically unfinished, has quite a bit of orange peel. I think that the color looks alright, so my best guess is that it could be sanded down and re-clear coated, but I am not stating that as any expert on paint...just trying to describe it to the best of my ability. Some decals are missing so could be added before clearing. Another option, after looking over the prices of replacement body parts; is to buy new body parts from ebay listings...or ride a decent-if-not-great-looking bike as it is. It has some small-ish scuffs, shown in the photos, on the rear muffler/tailpipe, the left passenger foot peg, and the kickstand. Other nicks and such throughout the bike. Again, please understand that cosmetically this bike is not perfect. Some mounting tabs have been cracked/broken and are epoxied/glued in place. I think that none of these are noticeable and all function as should, but just noting things to be thorough in my description. The windshield/gauge stay/bracket was cracked (and epoxied) in one part, and these bikes tend to vibrate the windshield a bit anyway...and I think that because of that crack it may vibrate more than it would if not cracked. Clock does not keep time, "zeros out" sometimes when shut off for a while. The tach needle seems a little lazy when it revs...again...I am being very thorough in my description here so that a prospective buyer is informed. I am doing my best to list every little detail but am probably missing some things anyway. :) The top triple clamp has the (known issue on these bikes) of being cracked where the bolts pinch the forks, on both sides. I have seen a number of them sell for $80 on ebay. The issue with these is that the hold is counter-sunk too deeply, which causes the bolt head to pull right through; to break out the bottom of the hole. I am selling this bike technically for parts only, I am not in control of what the buyer does with it. :) I have ridden one of these which was cracked like this for 10k+ miles with no issue, using a longer bolt through the bolt hole with a washer to keep it from sitting down in the counter-sunk hole. I state this experience of mine for no purpose but to share that story--I am not implying that the buyer of this motorcycle would be alright with operating this motorcycle in any way that I have described. Again, I am selling this motorcycle only as a whole bike to be used as usable parts allows. It has ridden great most of the time that I have ridden it. There is one exception: I think that the vent/drain on the fuel tank at the filler neck is clogged, as it had water in it that didn't drain out after I washed it. One time when I filled it with gas, as I left the gas station the check engine light blinked a few times, then a short way down the road the light went off but the bike seemed sluggish at high RPM and under acceleration. This grew worse as I rode, then went away on its own and was fine afterward. I tried to blow air through the vent to clear it out and thought that it seemed as though it was starving for fuel at that time, possibly because the vent was not allowing air into the tank. I don't know what else to say about it, the check engine light is off now (and was only blinking for a couple of miles), I checked the engine codes and there were none saved, and it ran fine afterward. I just want to mention it in the interest of full disclosure. Other than this isolated issue it has run strong and smooth. PAYMENT is due in full within 7 days of the sale. I will only accept payment in cash or bank issued check. No credit card payments accepted. Check payment is ONLY accepted after the payment has cleared with my bank, which can take up to 10-14 business days to do. Cash, in person, is totally acceptable and instant, if that is what you prefer. A DEPOSIT of $300 is due within 48 hours of the sale. Please only bid if you are serious. I am placing high standards on the bidding requirements, please ask if you do not meet those standards as I may make an exception. DELIVERY/PICKUP is available in person, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Buyer is solely responsible for pickup or delivery arrangements. Must be picked up within 3 weeks of sale. I will meet with a shipping company to ship the bike. I may also deliver or meet within a certain radius of the Twin Cities area, at my discretion, and for a fee...just ask. :) Please ask for any additional information or photos before buying. --------------------------------------------- LEGAL STUFF: Considering that I am selling this bike most likely sight-unseen, I am making no promises in any way. Selling my Multistrada 1000 DS. Runs Great, daily driver, rebuilt title. Has 28k miles and still runs like new. These are impressive machines. I'm a mechanic and I rebuilt this downed bike a couple years ago to ride because Ducati's are fun, cool bikes with excellent engineering. I didn't make it a perfectly cosmetic bike because I ride, I don't show my bikes in events, don't need to impress the ladies that don't know what it is anyway. There is some small rash from the left side crash the previous owner had, but he had frame sliders, so, it's minimal. The left Motivation Frame Slider has been replaced with a new one. I also bought a couple used pieces that had slight rash, but it doesn't bother me, and the bike rides the same. You can spend the extra time and money to make it prettier, but for me it was more economical to leave it as is and just enjoy it. It has a new battery, Rizoma Red Italian Grips (they look and feel just like the cheap Chinese aluminum grips, just cost a bunch more), excellent Pirelli Tires, great Brembo Brakes, nice stock alloy Ducati wheels, stock seats, turn signal mirrors, etc. . . New front fork seals, too, so you won't have to worry about that for a long time. I like this Ducati because it's simple air and oil cooled and you're not hassled with all the water cooled bike maintenance issues, extra bulk and weight, etc... I also like the dry clutch. Yes it rattles when not engaged, but I kinda like that classic Ducati sound. The dry clutch lasts a lot longer than the wet ones. I'm only selling this bike because I'm getting into long distance touring and I have too many bikes as it is. I don't need money, so, please understand that I won't accept a lowball offer. Use ebay email if you have any questions. This is a great bike to ride and enjoy, very reliable and nimble. She's not cosmetically perfect, but if you're a rider, you'll Love this bike. The bike is available for inspection by appointment before the end of the listing. After the sale, you own the bike and are responsible for paying for it. This bike is for sale locally in Reno, Nevada on one of those free listing sites. It may sell before this listing ends. If it does, I'll close this listing early. This bike is sold "as-is, where-is" no warrantee is offered. Please ask all questions before buying this bike. I do not take checks of any kind, EXCEPT: I don't take checks of any kind EXCEPT in person, and we cash them at your bank before I turn over the bike and the title to you, so, your check has to come from a National Bank, like Bank of America or Wells Fargo, Chase, etc…(unless you're a local Nevadan). Check with me to see if your bank has a branch in my area to cash the check BEFORE you BID. I don't take payments. Not into trades either, unless it's something cool/unique/interesting. (your '98 Yamaha YZF6 is not interesting, etc...) This is a cash only sale. Bike and Title will only be released after full payment has been made. Thanks for understanding. A non-refundable $500.00 deposit via PayPal is due within 24 hours of your purchasing the bike. (to cover the time and money involved in listing and dealing with this sale and ebay fees if you decide to not pay for the bike in full.) The balance due must be paid in cash on pickup or bank wire transfer within 7 days after the end of this sale. This is a cash sale. Please have your cash ready before you bid. Non-payers waist everyone's time and we still incur ebay listing and final value fees which are significant. If your feedback is less than 5, please contact me via ebay email prior to bidding, or your bid may be rejected. Buyer is responsible for shipping and shipping costs. This bike sells F.O.B. Lovelock, NV 89419. We can load the bike into your shipper's open or enclosed vehicle, as long as it's big enough to accommodate the bike. This is a USA sale only. No international buyers. Thanks for reading.
