Up for sale is my 1999 Ducati Cromo that I purchased from Max Papis, the grand prix driver. I have documentation showing it was his bike. I am the second owner of the bike, and now it's time to pass it on to someone else who will appreciate this rare beast. This bike only has 4500 miles on it, and still turns heads anytime I ride it. I've heard conflicting numbers of how many were built. But from what I've researched, it's no more than 101 total bikes. The Cromo is obviously unique because of its chrome tank. However, in 1999 the Cromo also received the adjustable front forks and the higher-output 74hp engine. Cosmetically it shared many styling cues with the 900S, such as the black frame and wheels and carbon fiber front fender. In addition, the Chromo was decked out with a carbon fiber rear fender and rear seat cover. I have made some additions, but I have kept all of the original parts. I have put on a Moto Creations exhaust, which really woke the bike up, and it gives it a great sound. The mirrors, belt cover, clutch cover, and a tail chop with integrated blinkers in the tail light are the main things I did. I also had a carbon fiber cover chrome plated, which goes over where the second rider would sit. I do have a carbon fiber cover for this area if you want to change the look back to stock. Mechanically, the bike runs great. I had the belt changed when I brought it home after I bought it. Also all of the fluids were changed. The bike ran perfect through the Smokey Mountains last year when I took it out there, and I would trust it on any road trip to anywhere. The tires have about 1000 miles left on them from what the dealer told me when I took it in for service. Now there are some scratches on the brackets that hold the foot pegs. Also, underneath the cluster where the speedo cable screws in, the carbon fiber is broken. This does not affect anything. The speedo is correct, and all of the gauges work on the cluster. The bike does show some wear, but it's still a 7.5 out of 10. The belt cover had something leak on it, and it shows a witness line where the solution dripped, but it doesn't look that bad. A new battery was put in 2 years ago, and it has been on a tender since. The grips and rubber on the foot pegs have some rips, but they will still hold up to plenty of miles if you didn't want to change them. I can assist a trucking company if you want it picked up. A $500.00 non refundable deposit due within 24 hours after the auction is complete. The rest of the payment is due within 7 days
