Up for sale is a near new four stroke 2008 Kawasaki KLR 650 Dual Sport with only 1747 miles. So here is the deal with this awesome bike. It was purchased about 6 months ago from a dealer by me with less than 500 original miles on it... one owner in pristine condition. I bought it with the intention of taking it on a Central American trip next year and made the follow upgrades: New tires, new battery, touring windscreen (+4" taller), Bark Busters, Eagle Mike fork brace and fender lowering kit, Eagle Mike doohickey (if you ride KLRs, you'll know what this is), rear lowering link (lowered 1.5"... forks rebuilt and lowered as well to maintain handling), power outlet, aluminum skid plate, Sargent low world touring saddle (lowers standover by approx. 2 "), Givi top and side racks, Tusk Aluminum lockable panniers (with matching interior bags), Coyote Trips lockable Aluminum top box, Rotopax spare gas tank and mount, motocross foot pegs and trickle charger. Two sets of keys, stock tool kit and owner's manual are included. Oil, oil filter, coolant and air filter were all changed when purchased as well as being given a thorough once over by my mechanic. I put about 1250 touring miles on it over the last few months before a good friend of mine was very seriously injured in motorcycle accident. Since then my interest (and my wife's interest) in my proposed trip has declined significantly. So... as a result the bike is up for sale. This is the perfect bike for a long distance on/off road tour. All the ideal upgrades have already been made and after a few shakedown trips it is 100% ready to go. Compare it to a Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, BMW, Triumph, etc... you won't find a better bike for the asking price. On the subject of price... it is FIRM and CASH ONLY (no trades, etc...). Title only states Maico mc not engine size. As you will see in the pictures this bike was adult owned and not abused. Original shock has good dampening as do the front forks. no rust on forks and wheels look very nice. Still has the original Metzler front tire! The engine has great compression and starts and runs well. Shifting is also very good. Also you will see the seat and lettering is still in great shape. This bike even has the original Maico handlebars, cables and covers. Bike has motoplat motocross ignition (small rotor). n old blacksmith once told me, when you walk around with a hammer in your hand all day, everything looks like a nail. This bike is no different. When you ride it, everything seems very doable. It's powerplant is great for inspiring a new rider, or bringing out the kid in all of us. The (2004) bike is reliable, just your like your hammer. Never left me stranded. The really awesome about this bike. It's got an amazing amount of accessories, much like one would put lipstick on a pig. I doubt you find a DR200 with as much in accessories as this one. It's a disease around this place, and somehow, we got our grubby hands on this one too! 1) Suspension: As an entry level bike, the OEM suspension was unremarkable and pogo-ie., so I upgraded both ends and what a difference it made! Front Forks have been upgraded by Racetech with Gold valves and heavier springs Rear Shock is a Works Performance unit 2) Rear Fender If you were a purist, beauty is where function meets form. That is true except when speaking of the hideous OEM rear fender. I replaced it with a more modern, MX type fender. 3) Rear Tail Light LED The rear tail light has been upgraded to LED. The following parts were usedEdge2 Tail LightDRC Edge2 Processor Upgrade Board) by 12 O'clock Labs Quote: This unit gives programmable integrated turn signals to the Edge / Edge2 tail light, as well as safety brake pulsing, a drop in replacement for the OEM led board, the unit also has brighter led's than the stock edge2 board, and is designed with 500,000 life hour capacitors for exceptionally long life operation 4) Rear Luggage Rack by ManRacks 5) Ricochet SkidPlate 6) Front Hand guards which are ProBends By Cyra and Pillow Top Grips 7) Front clutch lever is adjustable 8) Unbreakable Mirrors by Double Take 9) Power mount for a Zumo 660 (Does have a crack in the plastic, but seems to work fine) 10) Front brake line was replaced with Stainless Steel 11) Bar risers 12) After market bars with a higher bend (Protaper SE HandleBars) The not so glorious about this bike: 1) The body plastic has wear. White plastic never stays white. This one is no exception. 2) The left side gas tank has a big dent. It doesn't affect the functionality, but it's a bit of an eyesore 3) The paint has been rubbed by leg contact on the tank. The it probably doesn't matter much: 1) The previous owner(s) modified the airbox. It's suppose to allow more air in and pep up the motor. It's a DR200, I don't think it helped nor hurt the bike so I never fiddled with it 2) The same folks also modified the OEM muffler. I assume that they removed the CAT and maybe shortened it. Again, never bothered me enough to investigate it. Included in the sale is the OEM repair manual, owners manuals, my maintenance log book, and clean title.
