2011 Harley-Davidson Road King CLASSIC, The 2011 Harley-Davidson Road King is a big cruiser motorcycle fully equipped for touring. It is an ideal bike for long days of comfortable, relaxed riding. The Road King was introduced in 1994 with a carbureted, 1340-cc iteration of the iconic Harley-Davidson V-twin motor. Fuel injection was introduced the following year. In 1999 displacement increased to 1450 cubic centimeters. The engine in the 2011 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic is a 1584-cc version. Harley-Davidson aficionados generally refer to it as a 96-inch engine. The first Road King came with a full-dresser-style headlight cover and the Fat Bob fuel tank with twin gas caps. The current Road King has much more of the simple, classic, Electra Glide look from the mid 1960s. Solid color options include Vivid Black, Sedona orange, Brilliant Silver Pearl, and Cool Blue Pearl. Two-tone paint schemes of Cool Blue Pearl with Vivid Black, Cool Merlot Sunglo Pearl with Vivid Black, or Dark Candy Rootbeer with Light Candy Rootbeer are also available. And there are custom colors of Psychedelic Purple with Vivid Black or Apple Green with Vivid Black. Harley-Davidson offers a custom color paint program as original equipment. Although the Road King looks like a boulevard cruiser, it is equipped for long-distance touring. Front and rear floorboards are standard equipment. The passenger floorboards are adjustable for height. The simple windshield and pillion seat can be installed or removed easily in just a few seconds. Both passenger and rider seats are upholstered in leather. And of course the Road King comes standard with molded, lockable, hard bags. The engine is mounted via a four-point system to reduce vibration. A redesign of the chassis and suspension in 2009 gives improved handling. Electronic Sequential port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) is controlled via Electronic Throttle Control (ETC). This is a throttle-by-wire system that makes it easier to include cruise control. At more than 800 pounds, the Road King is a big motorcycle. Yet it is the lightest Harley-Davidson touring bike. This makes it much easier to maneuver when riding in town. The 2011 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic steps it up several notches. It includes the bigger 103-inch (1690-cc) engine, anti-lock brakes, and the Harley-Davidson Smart Security System. These are all packaged as the Powerpak option, standard equipment on the Road King Classic. The larger engine also has a higher 9.6:1 compression ration compared to the 9.2:1 of the 96-inch motor, The standard hard saddlebags are wrapped in leather. There is new metal detailing on the seat, side cases, fuel tank, and fender. And the Road King Classic comes with wide whitewall tires wrapped around chrome, spoked, wire wheels. Harley-Davidson motorcycles in general, and the Road King in particular, are about relaxed, comfortable r $17.00
