1990 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy LO, 1990 Harley Davidson FLSTF Fatboy. Sometimes referred to as the Gray Ghost. First Year of the Fat Boy, one of 4400. This bike is all original. No repaints, alterations, all accessories are HD (there is a K&N air filter under the original cover). This bike is almost as nice as when it first hit the road, runs & looks like a new bike, very unusual to find a 25 year old bike this clean & original, the bike has just under 25,000 miles (still ride occasionally so mileage creeps upward) & was recently serviced, 6,000 miles on tires. I bought her new in November, 1989; she has been very well taken care of, garage kept, never dropped and no damage history, some bolt-on chrome accessories, no alterations; will continue to give good service for years to come. This Bike should continue to go up in value. Here is what many are saying is the Un-Official Story of the first edition Fatboy: Its silver on silver with rivets styling was evocative of a B-29 Superfortress Bomber. Fatboy was the Nuclear Newcomer for 1990! HD makes motorcycles, but also made casings during the 2nd World War. They made the casings for both atomic bombs that were dropped on Japan. The one dropped on Hiroshima was called "Fatman," and the second dropped on Nagasaki was called "Littleboy." When HD decided to name the bike they were originally going to call it the Fatman, but decided to take the Fat from Fatman and the boy from Littleboy and named the new bike the Fatboy. The naming of the bike was not meant to offend; rather, it was done as a tribute to a certain period in time. The bomb casings were silver grey in color with seven gold rings on them to signify the seven continents of the world. They painted the Fatboy the same silver gray and only on the original Fatboy did they place seven gold rings on the motorcycle. If you notice the Fatboy's gas-tank emblem it is reminiscent of the U.S.A.F. wing emblem. The motorcycle has seven yellow rings painted throughout the bike; one on the ignition ring, one on the primary inspection cover, two on the tank, one on the cam cover and two on the head covers. Gun metal gray paint on the tank, fenders and frame on this first edition. No disappointment on this piece of Harley Davidson History. Although the Fatboy is one of the most popular bikes Harley sells, they have decided to never duplicate the silver-gray color on subsequent Fatboy Motorcycles. All HD accessories are original and include passing lamps, chrome controls, tinted windscreen, chrome engine guard w/highway pegs, chrome upper & lower belt guard and rear sprocket cover, backrest, luggage rack and saddlebags.
