When BMW decided to jump into the super talented SuperBike field , they headed straight for the grids front row . In 2010 the S1000RR made its debut and BMW wasn't looking for anything else but the best 1000 cc sportbike on the block . The S1000RR shocked the two-wheeled world with its awesome performance and handling right out of the gate . They have made some improvements over the past few years and the 2014 is a full-blooded racebike that can be ridden on public roads as well . The liquid-cooled , fuel-injected 999 cc power plant makes an astounding 193 horsepower and 83 ft.-lbs. of torque . BMW's electronics package helps put all of the wicked power to the ground and maximize the the performance all the while helping the rider better manage this machine . The RR has 4 Riding Modes that adjust power delivery , throttle response and Race ABS and it even has heated grips ! A 6 speed transmission with a slipper clutch also help manage the performance and make you look better out there in the twisty roads . Wrap all of that into a race bred aluminum composite bridge chassis and you have one amazing street bike . The looks are truly unique and very aggressive , BMW knows how to make a good looking motorcycle . Fully adjustable suspension with a 46 mm fork up front and an aluminum swingarm with compression and rebound damping . The S1000RR comes standard with Brembo Race ABS brakes but they can be switched off too , that's a nice feature . The S1000RR has proven itself against the worlds best SuperBikes and with all of that power , great handling and great looks , the RR definitely deserves all of the accolades from the moto-journalists who have tested it . While you probably won't get to experience the RR on the German Autobahn pushing it to its limits at a true 184 mph , just knowing you could puts a smile on your face while cruising the speed limit in America . I do believe it makes an excellent track day bike though , just ask The California Superbike School . That's what they use , must be a good choice .
