About Me | See my other items | Email A Friend Description of [FOR SALE 1964 BMW R69S "THE RED GENT "] We are offering for sale this lovely, low miles, 1964 BMW R69S w Meier Large Sport Tank. It's a beauty!!!This is all numbers matching machine including the frame, frame badge and the motor. Miles appear to be original to the bike. This bike is pretty original with accessories that every BMW enthusiast will appreciate like engine crash bars, Denfeld solo seat complemented with the Pagusa in the back (stock factory setup). Bike comes with 2 ignition keys, original owners manual and Shop Manual. I can help to arrange the shipping of the bike to lower 48 states on buyers expense $350-$650 depending on the destination location. I use Uship.Recent service included following:* Change of all top end seals and gaskets, (big job),* New drive shaft boot, new screws and lock washers,* Everything torqued to specs, * Valves adjusted, * Fluids all changed, * New Air Filter Installed* New Exhaust Headers from Vech installed including the cross pipe,* New Solo Seats Installed, * New Switch Harness installed, * NOS tires installed, * Timing set, Bike runs and rides excellent and needs nothing. I rode this bike and shifted all 4 gears. It was a pleasure. This extraordinary machine usually starts in three kicks or less if you follow the procedure correctly. Electrical components all work as intended including the horn. Front and rear brakes are fully functional as well. Clean title in hand. "The BMW R 69 S VIN 658506 was manufactured on February 10th, 1964 and delivered on February 14th, 1964 to the BMW importer Butler & Smith in New York City. The bike was equipped with a bench seat." The BMW R69S, produced from 1960 to 1969, was BMW’s sport bike of its day. With 42 horsepower, it was by far the most powerful bike BMW made at the time. You had to pay to play ($1,564 in 1966), but that extra money bought you one of the most prestigious motorcycles available in the day. This is one of my favorite motorcycles of the 1960’s. But I’ll leave the explanation of why that is to Cycle World, who put it best in a 1962 review: "Whatever the BMW’s merits in a contest of speed, it is still the smoothest, best finished, quietest and cleanest motorcycle it has ever been our pleasure to ride. To be honest, we think that anyone who would worry much over its performance-potential is a bit of a booby. The R69S is fast enough to handle any encounter, and it has attributes that are, in touring, infinitely more valuable than mere speed. All things considered, if we were planning a two-wheel style vacation/tour, the BMW would have to be our choice of mount." We make every effort, to accurately describe items and their condition, and have an extensive track record of accuracy. In October 2010 I bought what is call a BMW /2 “Conversion” Motorbike. It is constructed from taking a /2 bmw chassis (1955-1969), and implanting a /5 Engine (1970-1973). In the years since it has been completely rebuilt mechanically, while preserving it's look as an old bike. I have kept a detailed blog, with thousands of photos and a few videos starting here: http://kirkusblog.com/2011/01/10/a-new-direction/ You can keep hitting the "next" button in the upper right corner to read through it all, but here is the bike in a nutshell. REAL 1966 R69s 1973 R75/5 motor with Siebenrock 1000cc Big Bore KitNew Nikasil cylinders. Stainless steel pushrod tubes. Lightweight 9.5:1 1000cc pistons . Dellorto carbs, Real Paul Dunstall Silencers (not copies), SUPER rare Sig Erson cam. New /5 and /2 wiring harness, Rear Fender Wires Replaced, Valeo Starter, Dyna Coil, Uli Electronic Ignition with adjustable Advance Curves, Omega Alternator, 12v AGM Battery, H-4 headlight, new handgrips, mirrors and turnsignals. All engine, transmission and Final drive seal replaced. Final drive rebuilt with new gear and spacer plate. Head redone: Valves, Guides, Springs, Pivots, lifters, and Hardened Valve Seats Timing Chain, Tensioner, Front crank bearing, and sprockets replaced, later model engine front cover installed. New period correct Metzler tires, stainless spokes, wheels trued, New High Friction Brake linings installed, wheel bearings packed. Total R90s Heavy Duty Clutch installed, Oil pump and cover. Engine Breather RARE tachometer installed, with specail cable to mate to the /5 engine. All shock absorbers replaced, swingarms greased and adjusted. All Bowden Cables replaced, Solo seat mounted back 3 inches,Stainless Seat Rail, Fibreglas Enduro Saddlebags, Small windscreen, EZ_clutch I reserve the right to pull this ad at any time, for any reason. I'm sure I am forgetting something, please feel free to ask serious questions! "How does It run?" I cant believe that in my effort to get all the mechanical details correct I did not talk at all about how it all works as a motorcycle. It starts, runs shifts and stops just fine! Because of the cam its happiest at higher revs, and drives like a regular R1000 engined bike until about 3500 rpm, and thats when the cam really comes on, then it pulls like a freight train! The Dellortos have accelerator pumps in them and are very responsive. The brakes have a high friction lining, but are still R69s drum brakes. As always, please message with any questions. I should mention that the full persormance potential of this bike has yet to be realized due to having less than 1000 miles on the new Seibenrock cylinders, pistons and rings.

I purchased this 1962 R69S from the original owner in 1991 restored it from top to bottom, inside and out. Over the years I have ridden it approx. 500 miles. This is the real deal that has every nut, bolt and widget that is came new with except some rubber parts and a new after market stock exhaust. The motor was completely gone thur with parts replaced refurbished to original spec. by a top Maryland BMW shop. This bike starts, runs, stops and lights up as it did the day it was sold in 1962. It will only go up in value. Only two minor issues are the black handle bar controls were hand painted and the chrome speedo bezel has a dent. The motorcycle is in Maryland Shipping, crating Ect. is up to the buyer. All reasonable questions answered $500 DEPOSIT VIA PAYPAL .... NO PAYPAL FOR BALANCE
